People always ask me, “Christy, what motivates you?” I hate that question. Because I don’t rely on motivation - it’s not real. It fades fast. In this episode, I’m breaking down the 3 things that actually keep me going. The real stuff. The hard stuff. The stuff that works when nothing else does. I’ll tell you what I’m afraid of (and how I use it to push harder), why I never settle, no matter how far I’ve come - and what keeps me showing up even when no one’s watching. I’m also getting real about the behind-the-scenes moments… the weight struggles, the heartbreak, the financial pressure. I’ve been knocked down more times than I can count. But I refuse to stay there. And there’s someone in my life who keeps me steady, even when I feel like quitting. You might be surprised who it is. So if you’re feeling stuck, burned out, or wondering if you’ve got what it takes - listen up. You don’t need more motivation. You need a reason that lasts, and I’m sharing mine in this episode. This isn’t some pep talk. This is raw, real, and uncomfortable - just like success actually is. If you’ve ever felt stuck, lazy, or just over it, this episode will change how you think about pushing forward. Listen now - before you give up. Connect with me! I got hit with the flu very hard. And I mean ‘hard’. One minute, I was fine, heading to the Arnold Classic, and the next, I was stuck on a plane with fever, chills, nausea, and full-body aches, wondering how I was going to make it through. It hit me so fast that even the flight attendant was worried. But the crazy part is that I recovered in ‘half’ the time it takes most people. How? Because I did things before and after I got sick, that set me up for success. In this episode, I’ll be sharing exactly what helped me bounce back so fast. I’ll tell you about the number one mistake that keeps people sick longer (most people don’t even realise they’re doing this). Plus the one simple habit I’ve been doing for years which gave me a massive advantage, and why your body might be struggling to fight off illness without you even knowing it. I’ll also break down the three biggest factors that made the biggest difference in my recovery, like how I kept myself out of the hospital, what I took to support my immune system, and the biggest game-changers for fighting off and a key nutrient that most people don’t get enough of. What I share could mean the difference between being stuck in bed for a week or greatly reducing the symptoms and recovering quicker, bouncing back in just a few days. So, if you’ve ever been knocked down by the flu or want to make sure you recover fast the next time it hits, don’t miss this episode. Connect with me! Grief is something we all go through at some point, but most people don’t really know how to deal with it. We’re often told that “time heals all wounds” or that “moving on means forgetting,” but those ideas can actually keep us stuck in pain. In this episode, Tim Ringgold, a board-certified music therapist and grief counselor, joins me to share his powerful story of loss from losing five close friends to the heartbreaking death of his young daughter from a rare disease. Tim opens up about the importance of music during his dark times and how it can help you heal. We’re talking about why grief doesn’t follow a set timeline, how ignoring your emotions keeps you stuck, and how to heal without forgetting the people you’ve lost. Tim also explains the best ways to support someone who’s grieving. He shares what to say (and what NOT to say) to someone who's hurting. If you or someone you love has experienced loss, this episode will give you hope, guidance, and practical advice for navigating grief and finding peace again. This conversation is filled with powerful lessons about love, loss, and learning to live fully again. No one tells you that losing weight is just the beginning, and the real battle starts with keeping it off. And in this episode, I’m sharing the surprising truths about weight loss that no one talks about. I asked my Code Red coaches and mentors to tell me the real story - the good and the bad. They reveal how to deal with losing friends who don't support your new lifestyle, the shocking difficulty of maintaining weight loss, simple steps to maintain your new lifestyle, and avoiding excessive weight regain. I’ll also get real about my own journey, what happened after my bodybuilding competition, why regaining weight is 10 times harder to lose the second time, and what I wish someone had told me before. What’s really stopping you from being healthy, losing excess weight and feeling better? I’ve heard it all - from genetics to caregiving and having kids - and I’m here to tell you, those aren’t the real problem. Today I’m breaking down the top three excuses people cling to like their life depends on it and showing you why they don’t hold up. Genetics? Sure, they determine where you store fat, but they don’t control whether you can lose it. I’ll tell you about a family with “perfect” athletic genes and why lifestyle choices matter way more than DNA. Too busy caregiving? Whether you’re taking care of an elderly parent or a special needs child, I get it - it’s exhausting. But if you don’t take care of yourself, who will? I’ll show you how to make it work, even with a packed schedule. I’m also diving into the no one reason parents give for not being healthy and how to overcome it. You’re running them all over town for sports and activities, but what example are you setting when you’re sick, exhausted, and falling apart? You really don’t need perfect circumstances. You don’t need more time, better genes, or fewer responsibilities and today I’ll show you how to stop whining and start taking action! This topic will probably make you squirm, but someone has to bring it up. There's a lot of stuff in our society that's acceptable now that didn't used to be. In some ways, that's a good thing. For example, it used to be unacceptable for women to vote, own property, or open a checking account without a man signing on. I'm glad that's not the case anymore in this country. In other ways, though, we've become too accepting. Just take a look at the state of our food. So much of it is processed and stuffed with rancid, disgusting seed oils and soaked in sugar, GMO soy, and American wheat. It's wreaking havoc on our health, and it's kinda old news that processed food is terrible for you. Yet so many people keep eating copious amounts of the stuff and end up obese and sick in ways that are completely preventable. Eating poisonous crap has become an acceptable sin. Staying obese and sick when you could do something different has become an acceptable sin. Even stuff like cheating on your spouse and lying on your taxes is more of an acceptable sin than ever. Listen, none of us are perfect, and we've all got challenges and baggage and hangups to try and figure out. At the same time, letting acceptable sins take over our lives isn't gonna serve us, our loved ones, or society as a whole. In this week's episode, I'm diving deeper into acceptable sins and how to stop them from taking over before it’s too late. This episode will help you identify the acceptable sins in your life and get fired up to start weeding them out. Join the 10 Pound Takedown Challenge - Lose your first, next, or last 10 pounds!! Finding time to take care of YOU and recharge your batteries (without derailing your progress) is tough for a lot of people. You have a family, a partner, obligations, or maybe all three! I have a high-maintenance dog to train and exercise, a business to run, employees to manage, and fitness to prioritize, minimum, so I get having a full plate. I also get how easy it is to convince yourself that you "can't" make the time to recharge your batteries. But after my bodybuilding competition last month, I moved some things around and spent three days off-grid, out in the woods. Meaning, no cell service, no devices, nothing. And I gotta say, those three days of (mostly) solitude taught me a lot about myself...my mind, my patience, how I think about my body, and more. Being able to disconnect and really recharge my batteries drove home how critical it is to give yourself that rejuvenation time on a regular basis. But how do you do that when your plate is full? How do you justify it? How do you give yourself permission to do it? And what happens to the people who count on you if you dare to step away for a hot minute? All that is what I'll cover in this episode of Rebel Weight Loss & Lifestyle. If you're someone who wishes you had "you" time, but you either can't seem to get around to it, or you think it's just a luxury that's fine for others but not something you get to do, this is the episode for you. I heard a saying once that goes don't get high on your supply. It comes from drug dealers who use their own drugs. They get high on their own supply. Not a great situation, but don't get high on your own supply is a great metaphor for the dangers of complacency. What I mean is, it's really easy to get complacent and think that because you do well at something, you don't have to remain vigilant. You can let your guard down and let the rules slip. For weight loss, it might look something like this... You get a program, you clean out your cupboards, and you're ready to hit the ground running. And you do! For that first week, you blow it out of the water. You think, "Wow!! This is amazing!" And then, IF you're not careful, you start getting high on your own supply. Meaning, you get complacent and decide that if you can lose that much weight in a week, you can fudge the rules a little, sneak in extra food, and still drop a ton of weight without as much sacrifice. You let things slip a little more and a little more, and pretty soon you're not losing anything because you got high on your own supply. Getting high on your own supply can happen to anyone. A new Rebel, a maintenance Rebel, a veteran Rebel - ANYONE (me included). So in this episode, I'm gonna cut through your cheat voice's sweet-talking and give you the no-B.S. reality you need to identify when you're starting to get high on your own supply, PLUS how to hit the brakes so you can make your weight loss stick this time. I walk my Belgian Malinois, Hazel, in downtown Boise a lot, including at night. Boise's very safe compared to most cities, but there's a possibility of trouble just about anywhere. Case in point: I was walking Hazel during Halloween evening when a homeless man with a pitbull crossed our path. I always take Hazel across the street when we encounter another dog, which is what I did this time, too. But something about us triggered the pitbull, and it went into full-on attack mode. I reacted quickly, putting myself between Hazel and the pitbull and bracing for impact, just like I was taught to do. In a way, that pitbull reminds me of all the obstacles that try to come for you during your weight loss journey. Make no mistake: The deck is stacked against you. You've got the holidays. You've got birthdays and anniversaries. You've got late-night food gremlins. You've got food companies happy to profit from your obesity and disease be selling you chemical crapstorm garbage. Weight loss mode or maintenance mode, there's always something. And if you don't learn how to brace for impact, any one of these "threats" could take you down. Tune into this episode to learn how you can "brace for impact" and defend yourself and your weight loss against the threats that cross your path. If you've seen the second Hunger Games movie - Catching Fire - you know that Katniss and Peeta, two of the main characters, are touring the districts by train after winning the 74th annual Hunger Games, as is custom for the winner to do. Things go badly in District 11, when Katniss accidentally provokes the crowd into doing something that gets one of them killed by Capital Peacekeepers. Completely freaked out, Katniss cries to Haymitch, hers and Peeta's mentor, about how to just get through the end of the tour so they can go home. "Wake up, girl," Haymitch says, snapping his fingers. "This trip doesn't end. You ain't EVER getting off this train!" The concept of never getting off the train is pretty terrifying in those circumstances! But when you look at it from a different perspective, it’s actually a powerful way to think about your health journey, and here’s why. One reason SO many people gain back weight is because they keep "getting off the train." Put another way, they think they can skip doing the exact things that work to get and keep the weight off! I call it the diet mentality, and it's only gonna ever lead to frustration and failure. Unlike the train in the Hunger Games, you actually want all the incredible things that come with staying on the real food, water, and sleep train to get and KEEP your weight off! Listen, there IS a way to stay on the train and love it. In this week's new podcast, I'll explain why you ain't ever getting off this train...and how and why that's actually a great thing! I was standing at the Mr. Olympia bodybuilding competition in Las Vegas with my buddy Kris Gethin last month, looking at all the exhibitor promising things like DNA testing and weight loss pills... When I was suddenly reminded of something I heard years ago: That there are no new ideas. Despite endless rounds of "promising new" gimmicks that want you to believe you can pop a pill or get a shot and melt away the fat in six seconds, there's no getting around your body's need for real food, water, and sleep for lasting weight loss and optimal wellness. Real food, water, and sleep are what we've needed for all of humanity's existence. It's the proper human diet. It's what we're designed for. It's NOT new! And even high-quality supplements like the kind Code Red offers don't change that. Do I think high-quality supplements have value? Absolutely, to a point. Do I think you can out-supplement a bad diet? Absolutely NOT. And to say otherwise is pretty insulting to Rebels like Lory Stobart, who lost 205 pounds in 18 months. Lory didn't lose all that weight because she took Code Red D3. She lost all that weight and is keeping it off because she did the work. Same for Andrea Dell, who lost 28 pounds in less than two months with Code Red and has kept it off for over seven years and counting. She's maintained for so long because she's doing the work, not because she's taking Code Red Magnesium. So despite what the latest gimmicky promises provoke you into believing...despite a fresh round of claims about yet another magic pill that's supposed to "help with weight loss"... Ain't nobody getting out of eating real food, drinking enough water, and getting enough sleep for safe, optimal weight loss and lasting optimal wellness. Before the siren's song of yet ANOTHER gimmick calls you away from the proper human diet, tune into this episode to learn all about why there are no new ideas when it comes to weight loss. Then use what you learn to protect yourself from gimmicks like hype-y magic pills, expensive shots that force your body to gobble up your muscle tissue like Miss Pac-Man, and "specialty" processed diet foods dripping with more chemicals than the cleaning products aisle at Walmart. In this episode, I'm talking about three things that every single business needs in order for a customer to feel comfortable buying their product or service: Proof Promise Plan (You may not realize it, but when you're making a buying decision, you're unconsciously on the lookout for these things, too.) Using Code Red as example: Proof: Before and after photos and testimonials of Rebels who've gotten results Promise: A nutrition program that enables you to lose up to 10% of your body weight every month without shakes, diet pills, diet foods, or exercise Plan: A Home Study program, the 10 Pound Takedown, the 7-Day Total Body Reset, the 21-Day Identity Shift, my books...there are lots of plans with Code Red! In today's world, proof can be faked (or stolen), and consumers are - understandably - pretty distrustful because of it. As a consumer, it's important to do your due diligence. As a business owner, it's important to be transparent about your proof as well as show it. This podcast episode is especially great for you if: A) You're new to Code Red and trying to understand how Code Red is different and whether it's for you, and/OR... B) You're a current Rebel who has people interested in Code Red (you can send them this episode!), and/OR... C) You're a business owner who wants to understand more about using proof, a promise, and a plan to inspire more people to buy from you. https://reset.coderedlifestyle.com/7-day-reset Join the 10 Pound Takedown Challenge - Lose your first, next, or last 10 pounds!! I’ve been in this industry for over 30 years, and I’ve learned that even small steps, taken CONSISTENTLY, will get you where you wanna be. I've also learned that a lot of people fall prey to the “all or nothing mindset," which is an outlook that says, "If I can't do it perfectly, I'm not doing it at all." A lot of people are either all in or they’re all out. It’s understandable that if you’re wanting to do something, you want to do it right and dedicate everything you have to it. But refusing to do ANYTHING if you can't do EVERYTHING is a recipe for failure. Small steps are better than no steps. And as much as I love seeing people go all-in with Code Red... I'd still rather they do something than nothing. (That's why I encourage people to start with a 10 Pound Takedown. It's only 30 days of doing the simple basics.) Not all days are going to be good days, and on those not-so-good days, the most important thing you can do is SOMETHING, because the days you struggle are the days that matter most. In this episode of Rebel Weight Loss & Lifestyle, I'm again joined by special guest, Jeff Later, to break down both the "all or nothing" and "small steps are better than no steps" mindsets. When you, me - anyone - goes into a new venture of any kind... Whether it's weight loss, building your own business, getting married, having kids... We tend to be pretty ignorant about what it's ACTUALLY gonna take to be successful. We think we know, but usually, we don't. Not really. In some cases, our ignorance comes from a lack of knowledge. In other cases, we do have some knowledge, but the knowledge doesn't prepare us for the EXPERIENCE of doing what it takes to succeed. Either way, our ignorance catches up with us, and we take a step back and go, "Woa, there is WAY more to this than I expected." A while back, I heard about this concept called paying down your ignorance. Basically, it's four steps you need to take to go from ignorant about how to be successful to actually BEING successful. Whatever your goals are in your health, wealth, or relationships, check out this episode to learn these four keys to success used by people who hit their goals (including in weight loss). I'm 48 at the time of this writing, and I've been in a few relationships and a few marriages. A couple of those relationships were toxic. For all of them, I wish I would have known then what I know now. But I’m a better person now for having gone through them (particularly the most recent one from 2023), because I learned so much about myself. I learned what I don’t want and what I DO want. I also learned three very important lessons that I want to pass onto you to help you recover and heal from any toxic relationships you may have been in (or are currently in). You, me, pretty much everyone has set at least one goal in their lifetime. It might be to lose weight or build muscle. But what most people don’t really think about are the benefits of reaching their goals. Put another way, our end goal isn’t to lose weight or build muscle. It’s what losing weight or building muscle will get us. There are BENEFITS to them that we want in our lives. Using weight loss as our example, you’re not losing weight just to lose weight. Nobody WANTS to “lose weight.” You’re losing weight because you want to have more energy, or to feel confident in your own skin, or to enjoy stable moods, or even just to feel good about YOU. I’m a big fan of getting clear on the benefit of the benefit, because when you go deeper than "lose weight" and find the benefits of losing weight that are meaningful to YOU, it can keep you going when nothing else does. In this episode, I'm joined once again by special guest, Jeff Later, and together, we're gonna dive into the benefit of the benefit. Tune into this episode and discover how you can tap into the benefit of the benefit to help YOU stay on track. Life doesn't stop throwing you curveballs just because you're on a weight loss journey. A divorce, the death of a loved one, getting fired, sick kids, losing a pet...the rollercoaster of life never stops while you’re still alive. A lot of people try to find stability in unstable times by eating themselves into obesity and disease...which only creates MORE instability. Then there are those who lean in and find stability in the process of living the Code Red Lifestyle™. I remember a 1:1 client I had about seven years ago. Her mom died during her program with me, and I asked her if she needed to pause the program for a bit. "No, I don't want to, because this is something I can control," she told me. In a situation you can't control or predict, the best way to feel in control is to focus on what you actually CAN control. And what you can always control are your thoughts, choices, and actions... Including the last eight inches between your plate and your mouth. Tune into this podcast episode and learn how to find stability in the process of living the Code Red Lifestyle™, no matter how out of control your life feels. In this week's new podcast episode, I'm joined by a special guest to talk about something I don't often talk about on Code Red: Men. My guest's name is Jeff Later, and I've known him for years. He's a pro body builder, fitness coach, and lifestyle coach. To look at him, you'd likely assume that he only works with bodybuilders. But the reality is, he works mostly with men and women over forty, with sixty-five percent of his clients being female (because women, in general, are more open to receiving instruction than are men). Jeff and I have talked before about the state of our country's health, and Jeff recently shared a thoroughly researched (and scary) statistic with me: The fathers of today's men had more testosterone than today's men do; and their grandfathers had even more. In fact, society-wide, we've seen severe declines in testosterone and other hormones (in both men and women). Women have testosterone, too, and in both men and women, it influences muscle mass, longevity, mood, libido, and MORE (when it's present in the proper amounts for each gender). After hearing about this from Jeff, I invited him onto this podcast episode to talk about men. Yes, ninety-three percent of Code Red's clients are female... But if that's you, you also interact with men and have them in your life. Maybe there are even men in your life who aren't very healthy, and you wish you knew how to reach them. If so, be sure you tune into this week's podcast episode, where Jeff and I will talk about society's view of men, women's interactions with and attitude towards them and how it affects their hormones, plus hormones in general and MUCH more. Listen to this episode to get a unique perspective that will help you AND may help you help the men in your life reclaim their health. Plus, you're gonna hear a ton of health and wellness facts you won't hear in the mainstream medical world or your Facebook news feed. I've been to Europe eleven times and traveled all over the world during my boxing career. And one thing I saw over and over is that in most European countries (not all, but most), obesity is very rare. One of my Certified Coaches recently asked me why that is. Meaning, why are Americans so much heavier than most Europeans? Well, one reason is that Europe has banned most of the gross chemicals we pack into our foods (especially our processed foods). They also don't do GMOs or add inflammatory seed oils to everything. Even fast food restaurants like McDonald's have fewer ingredients and fewer chemicals in their "food." But all that is just the tip of the iceberg. In this podcast episode, I'm diving into the reasons most European countries are not as fat or sick as we are in the U.S. The reason I'm focusing on most is an eating style known as grazing...including what it is and why it adds to our obesity and disease. Tune into this episode for the full scoop on why grazing is the enemy. Plus, learn more about why most Europeans don't battle their weight like we do in the U.S. ---- coderedlifestyle.com/grind https://coderedlifestyle.com/retreat ---- Become a Code Red VIP https://coderedlifestyle.com/vip ---- coderedlifestyle.com/meat at checkout and use codered for free pound of ground beef! ---- Lose your first, next, or last 10 pounds with absolutely NO pills, powders, shakes, or exercise required. Last month, I took Hazel to detection training school in Canada. I did it because Hazel is a working dog. A Belgian Malinois. Belgians are the most agile, heroic, and (potentially) lethal dog breed on the planet. That's why law enforcement agencies use them as detection and apprehension dogs. Hazel was too small and too sweet to officially work for law enforcement, which is one reason I decided to adopt her. But she's still a Malinois, and she's not built to be a family pet... Which is why I signed us up for detection training school...so I better understood how to give her what SHE needs, as a Malinois. The detection class itself was really fun, but going to Canada was an expensive, exhausting pain in the butt in pretty much every way. Seriously, there were plenty of reasons NOT to go...like the money (I spent thousands of dollars on the class, the travel, and the Airbnb I stayed at), like being gone from home for too long, and like having to get up at 4 AM to get my work done before the class started. But I did it all anyway, and even though it really kicked my butt, I'm SO glad I did it. Why? Because I might not get the chance again. What if the training company shuts down? What if the world situation changed, and I couldn't fly to Canada? What if my schedule got even fuller, and it got even MORE inconvenient to make the time? I get how easy it is to justify postponing stuff because you assume you'll get another chance. But as I share in this week podcast episode, one day you WON'T have the chance. Tomorrow is not promised. And if you keep waiting for "one day," you may "one day" yourself into missing out entirely...including the chance to be healthy, slim, and strong. While I was in Calgary a few weeks back, I got coffee from the drive-thru of a coffee shop called Tim Horton's. On the way out of the drive-thru, I spotted a sign that said, "See you tomorrow." Not, "Have a nice day" or "Thank you for your business," but "See you tomorrow." On the one hand, it's kinda brilliant. It plants this little seed that you should come back tomorrow, and does it in a subtle way so you don't feel like you're being told what to do. But in some situations, getting someone to come back is one of the WORST things you can try to do. And if you're a customer who keeps going back, you could be doing yourself more harm than good in these certain situations. Watch this episode to find out why, including why and when YOU should think twice about "going back tomorrow." ---- coderedlifestyle.com/grind https://coderedlifestyle.com/retreat ---- Become a Code Red VIP https://coderedlifestyle.com/vip ---- coderedlifestyle.com/meat at checkout and use codered for free pound of ground beef! ---- Lose your first, next, or last 10 pounds with absolutely NO pills, powders, shakes, or exercise required. There are three months out of the year when a higher than normal percentage of people try to lose weight. It's interesting to see how many people mindlessly fall into the pattern of waiting until one of these three months. So why is it even an issue? Because when you wait for them (even if you don't realize that's what you're doing), you're programming yourself for failure... Just like you are when you think you should wait until Monday, or until you're not on your monthly cycle, or until some other outside circumstance falls into place and life is perfect. The reality is that you're ready when YOU decide you're ready. When you get yourself to that point, nothing will stop you. I know because I see it all the time. To find out what these three biggest months for weight loss are, and more importantly, how to avoid the unconscious trap of thinking you should wait for one of them to get your weight and wellness under control, tune into this episode! This week’s episode is about how to avoid “sales at all costs” companies that don’t care about your success. Here’s an example of what I mean. On July 7, a guy pulled out in front of me. I couldn't stop in time and T-boned him, leaving me without a vehicle. I decided to buy a Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40, as I'd always wanted a vehicle like that, and it's a good vehicle for summer. I found one in Lake Tahoe, bought it, and made arrangements with a car transport company to drive it to me in Boise. The transport company told me they'd get it to me in one to three days, and it would cost over $600. 😬 Sheesh, but I agreed to their terms, because it might cost me that much to fly down there and drive it back myself. Well, one day passed, and nothing. Then two days passed. Still nothing. I called them to make sure everything was going okay, and they said they were still looking for a driver. They also suddenly clarified that when they said they'd get it to me in one to three days, they really meant they'd "try" to. THEN they said, "If you really want your rig picked up, we can do a 'guaranteed' pick-up, but that will be double the price." 😡 They also told me it would be extra because my FJ40 had a winch on the front. But here's the real kicker. When they told me about their "guaranteed pick-up," they said they'd "give it the old college try." Uh no. I ain't paying you $1500 for a "college try." It's either a guarantee or it's not. I ended up paying someone local (and unaffiliated with this company) to drive down and get the FJ40 for me. I was telling Andrea (Code Red's Director of Coaching) about all this, and she said, "Yeah, so many companies out there will do ANYTHING to make sales at all costs, even if it means destroying the long-term relationship with their customers." THAT is exactly why you've gotta be careful about stuff that sounds too good to be true (like magic shots or gimmicks that promise you don't have to make any changes to get and keep the weight off). Some companies have zero problem telling you whatever fantasy they think you wanna hear in order to get you to buy their crap. There are plenty of GOOD companies out there, too. Tune into this week's podcast for tips on how to tell the difference between the ones that care and the ones that don’t. Picture this. You're following the program and doing well. Then you make a bad choice and set yourself back. And instead of getting right back on track, you abandon the program entirely...because if you can't do it perfectly, you aren't gonna do it at all. I see this mindset in a lot of people. It's called the all or nothing mindset, and it is NOT your friend. Case in point: This week's podcast guest, Lory Stobart, lost 205 pounds in 18 months on the Code Red Lifestyle™... Which she NEVER would have done if she'd given in to the all or nothing mindset. I talked to my cousin, Hannah, a few weeks ago at a family wedding and invited her onto my podcast as a guest...because she's a teacher and youth pastor who figured out how to make Code Red work for her. Before she started Code Red, Hannah’s bones would crack when she got out of bed. She was in pain, and it was difficult to lift things and squeeze herself between the desks in her classroom. Hannah’s journey with Code Red actually started after a dream she had last year (2023). In her dream she had lost all the weight she was carrying and became pregnant (fertility is part of her health journey). Hannah told me the Lord gave her that dream...so when a friend encouraged her to care for her health, she decided to sign up for the Code Red Lifestyle™. She started on March 4, 2023, and says she's never looked back. If you're a teacher, nurse, caregiver, or someone with any kind of crazy schedule who struggles to make Code Red work for you (or you flat-out think you can't make it work), tune into this episode to hear how Hannah committed to Code Red and made it work...even in spite of her doubts and insecurities around whether she could (or would) stick with it. Most people agree that sugar tastes good. Yet most people don't know that "tasty sugar" is also a chronic, dose-dependent hepatotoxin. Put another way, sugar is a liver toxin when you eat too much too often. There's a safe threshold for sugar, just like there's a safe threshold for arsenic. But most people in today's society eat WAAAAY above that safe threshold. That's why, in this week's new podcast, I'm gonna tell you what happens when you STOP eating sugar. So if you're eating sugar and you also struggle with: Sugar cravings Low energy/fatigue Fatty liver Vision problems (including vision correction) A weak immune system A bad (or declining) memory Heart disease (or risk of heart disease) Diabetes or pre-diabetes Moodiness, anger, and/or anxiety Brain fog Intestinal issues like gas, bloating, and heartburn Then tune into this episode of Rebel Weight Loss & Lifestyle to learn what happens when you get off the sugar. Code red - For this episode, I'm sharing my answers to the top SIX most asked questions I've been getting this summer. I got these questions from reading comments on my YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok channels. Here are the six questions I'm gonna answer in the episode: "How is Miles?" (Miles is my ex-husband. We were together for ten years.) "Anything new happening for you, Cristy?" How is Hazel?" (Hazel is my Belgian Malinois who turned two a couple months ago. She's featured in a lot of my content and is quite a character.) "Why did you grow out your hair and change the color?" "Why are you competing in bodybuilding again?" "Are you SEEING anyone?" Yep, these are all personal questions about me rather than about the Code Red program. (I've also done podcasts where I answer common Code Red program questions.) And, since so many people seem to wanna know the answers, I'm dedicating this episode to answering them. A few months ago, Instagram suggested I start following a guy named Jake Thomas. I'd never heard of him, but when I saw that we followed a lot of the same people, ran in the same circles, and had a lot in common, I thought, "Why not?" One thing Jake said that stuck with me was, “Every day is day one.” See, Jake grew up in New Orleans in a suburban family. He appeared “good” on the outside and his family seemed “perfect"...but things were NOT good OR perfect. Having no direction or purpose in his life, and while carrying a lot of suppressed emotional baggage he didn't know what to do with, Jake joined the Marines at age 17, where he found leadership, assertiveness, and mission. But after he left the Marines, he lost all sense of identity. Even working in the oil fields and making plenty of money, he couldn't handle reality and escaped with booze and "pleasurable company." He also got fat and inflamed. His turning point came at age 30, when he finally got fed up and asked himself, “Dude! Where are you going? What are you doing?!” Determined to clean up his act, Jake researched human physiology and discovered that what we eat impacts everything in our lives, including our mind and spirit. Jake took control of his eating (he went carnivore) and adopted the same training style used in recruit training in the Marines, which is where "every day is day one" comes from. The day recruits ARRIVE for training is day ZERO. The day they START is day ONE. As Jake explains, it doesn’t matter what you look like on day zero. When training starts on day one, it’s on. Everybody is the same on day one. Jake also says that “The single most effective thing we can do as human beings is controlling what we put in our mouth.” Amen! And you can start doing that today, even if you've never done it a day in your life or you've gone back to your old ways. Every day is day one, which means every day you can "start training" again. For more motivation and encouragement to move beyond past choices, guilt, shame, and any other crud holding you back, tune into this episode of Rebel Weight Loss & Lifestyle, where I talk with Jake Thomas about why EVERY day is day one. ---- Connect with Jake: https://lifelikejake.com/ ---- Become a Code Red VIP https://coderedlifestyle.com/vip ---- coderedlifestyle.com/meat at checkout and use codered for free pound of ground beef! ---- Lose your first, next, or last 10 pounds with absolutely NO pills, powders, shakes, or exercise required. Exodus 14 of the Bible includes a famous story everyone’s heard about: The parting of the Red Sea. The Israelites were fleeing captivity and slavery in Egypt at the hands of Pharaoh. With the Egyptian army closing in on them, the Israelites stood at the edge of the Red Sea with nowhere to go. So God told Moses to stretch out his arm to part the waters... BUT the waters didn’t part until the children of Israel TOOK A STEP toward the Red Sea. In the New Testament of the Bible, while Jesus was walking on water, he told Peter to take a step toward him - ON the water - to meet him. These stories remind me that the first step is usually the hardest. (Or, as we say in boxing, the first round is the hardest.) For example, at the half-marathon most of my Coaches and I ran in Jackson Hole, Wyoming this year, that first mile was the hardest. The first step is usually the scariest, too, no matter what you're doing...starting a business, going on a first date, or even starting the Code Red Lifestyle™. I wish more people understood that NOT taking that hard or scary first step is worse than the fear or difficulty of taking it. I’m not good at very many things, but I don’t fear taking chances, because when I take a chance, I have a 50/50 chance of being right. Sometimes I’m right. Sometimes I’m not. But I find out. If I don't take a chance, on the other hand, I have a zero percent chance of being right. Tune into this episode to find out why taking that first step and finding out if you're right is the key to an amazing, fulfilling life that you'll be proud of (and quite possibly, the key to getting and keeping your weight off). ---- For a few items talked about in this episode - coderedlifestyle.com/amazon ---- Become a Code Red VIP https://coderedlifestyle.com/vip ---- coderedlifestyle.com/meat at checkout and use codered for free pound of ground beef! ---- Lose your first, next, or last 10 pounds with absolutely NO pills, powders, shakes, or exercise required. If I had to pick someone to be stuck on a deserted island with (or even go through the apocalypse with), it would be a Code Red Rebel. That's because we rebel against gimmicks and instead pick our hard and we do hard things. We rebel against a society, a government, and an education system that brainwashed us to believe lies like: You "have" to exercise to lose weight. You "have" to eat low fat to lose fat. You "have" to eat 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. You "have" to eat 9 to 11 servings of grain a day. That dogma has kept us sick and fat for over 70 years. But a Code Red Rebel doesn’t bend the knee to that narrative. The Code Red Lifestyle™ is structured for more than safe, sustainable weight loss without gimmicks, shots, or exercise. It's also structured to help you become anti-fragile in every way - physically, socially, and mentally. That's why Code Red Rebels are tougher than your average bear. They're anti-fragile. To hear more about being anti-fragile with Code Red, tune into this episode. ---- Join us at the next retreat - coderedlifestyle.com/retreat ---- Become a Code Red VIP https://coderedlifestyle.com/vip ---- coderedlifestyle.com/meat at checkout and use codered for free pound of ground beef! ---- Lose your first, next, or last 10 pounds with absolutely NO pills, powders, shakes, or exercise required. This episode is gonna ruffle some feathers. It's one of those things a lot of people do NOT wanna hear. It’s also something most people think about and deal with all day every day. It’s on our minds (maybe consciously or unconsciously), and it is shaping our daily lives. What am I talking about? I'm talking about the fact that each of us are a walking billboard. How we show up in the world sends a message, and we're not always thinking about the message we're sending. And whether we like it or not, other people judge us based on how we show up. Tune into this episode to get my take on how and why you are a walking billboard, and how you can influence how other people perceive you (for better or worse). ---- Become a Code Red VIP https://coderedlifestyle.com/vip ---- coderedlifestyle.com/meat at checkout and use codered for free pound of ground beef! ---- Lose your first, next, or last 10 pounds with absolutely NO pills, powders, shakes, or exercise required. In today's cancel culture environment, speaking hard truths is something more and more people are scared to do. I get it. I get angry DMs all the time from people who don't like my direct, no-B.S. approach. In last week's episode of Rebel Weight Loss & Lifestyle, I talked about how they're counting on your surrender. Well, that applies to more than your health. It applies to surrendering what you believe in, too. If standing up for what you believe in is something you're scared to do, it's understandable, and THIS podcast episode might help you feel more empowered to do it. It's about being willing to risk it ALL for what you believe. Whether you agree with me on everything or not, give it a listen and let it fuel you to stand up to the food pushers, to the people who claim drinking water will kill you, and to the people who think you should get a shot that starves your body of nutrients instead of losing weight with real food. Drug, food, and insurance companies, along with the government and the "health" care industry (among others), are getting rich off your obesity and poor health. Here are a few stats to bring this fact to life for you: The medical costs of an obese person are 40% higher than those of a non-obese person. Obesity brings in a staggering $261 billion in obesity-related medical issues in the United States alone. A 2022 study showed that obesity put people at a 71% higher risk for cancer. In 2022, cancer drugs alone raked in $147 billion, and that’s projected to almost triple over the next 10 years. A UK study showed that cancer cells don’t use ketones for energy, so diets low in carbohydrates and high in fat may help starve cancer cells by lowering glucose levels...which suggests that high levels of glucose, which typically result in high levels of insulin, may feed cancer cells. Bad news for today's sugar-addicted society. A 2020 study in the National Survey of Children’s Health showed that one in six kids in the USA is obese. Childhood obesity has tripled since 1980. (All the stats above are gonna get worse as this generation of obese kids grows up.) There's no money in healthy people, but there are BILLIONS of dollars (at least) in obesity and disease. And the companies, broken "health" care system, and government getting rich off your poor health are counting on you to surrender your personal power to take control of your health, curl up with that comfort food, and line their pockets. If that doesn't make you mad, it should. To find out more about why you’re manipulated into hurting yourself to make companies and the government money, plus how the system is set up to make you and your kids sick, fat, and dependent on food that slowly poisons you, check out this episode. In this new podcast episode, I'm talking about the top three things I would change if I were to start Code Red over again. Code Red’s been around for fourteen years. It was 2017 when it really took off. The way I run things now is different in a lot of ways than how I ran things back then. Some things I absolutely would not change, but some things I for sure would. What I hope you'll take away from this episode is: Stuff's always gonna happen that you can't predict, but it can't be an excuse not to take action (0r you'll never get anywhere). You can't change what happened in the past. You can only learn from it and use those lessons to make better decisions moving forward. No matter what you do, not everyone's going to like it when you're YOU. Conforming to what "everyone else" thinks of you is a sure way to feel resentful and miserable for most of your life. To hear the three things I'd do differently if I were starting Code Red over, and why they inspired the takeaways I shared above, check out this episode. This episode is all about the impact YOU can make. People are watching your weight loss journey, and they want what you have. (Just because they don’t “follow” you doesn’t mean they don’t follow you!) You do NOT have to be an influencer, business owner, YouTube star, or "famous" in some way to make a difference. Your coworkers are aware that you passed up the pizza and instead brought your own lunch. They've noticed that you're setting boundaries. Your resolve, your strength, your commitment, your dedication, your discipline...they're noticing it all, even if they don't say ONE SINGLE WORD. People who don't have structure, but see you implementing it and wish they could do it, too...they might make jokes or tease you, but behind that laugh is probably someone who's frustrated with themselves and wants what you have. Make no mistake: people are watching you. That means YOU have an opportunity to inspire them (just like someone you watched probably inspired you). Tune into this episode to learn more about the positive impact you can make on the people who are watching you (especially if you're part of the Code Red Referral Partner Program!). ---- coderedlifestyle.com/partner ---- Become a Code Red VIP https://coderedlifestyle.com/vip ---- coderedlifestyle.com/meat at checkout and use codered for free pound of ground beef! ---- Lose your first, next, or last 10 pounds with absolutely NO pills, powders, shakes, or exercise required. A friend of mine recently had a miscarriage. This was after going through IVF, hormone treatments, and working SO hard to get herself healthy, so she could get pregnant and carry a fetus. It was tough. But she began to come up with a plan, which was to get back to baseline, because she’d gained 15 pounds doing IVF and wanted to lose that. I suggested that what she needed was to reset and recover, and give herself time to heal her grieving heart. Resetting and recovering are things many people dismiss as "being weak" or "wasting time"...OR as something you only do if you've gone through an accident, miscarriage, divorce, loss, or some other tough experience. But the reality is, resetting and recovering is good to do in a lot of different situations. Yes, there are times to push. There are also times to reset and recover. To be clear, reset and recover doesn’t mean you go backwards. To find out what it DOES mean, and how to use it to be successful in your weight loss, join me for this episode! A common barrier to staying on track is being mentally exhausted from making tons of decisions all day. The more decisions you have to make, the more friction it creates in your life, and the more mentally wiped out you feel. This phenomenon is called decision fatigue. (It's why you start out strong in the morning and feel like cheating by the end of the day. Your willpower is highest first thing in the morning because you haven't really used it yet.) My Certified Coaches all have busy lives full of decisions to make and problems to solve, so for this week's episode, I asked them to share their tips for streamlining their lives and, in so doing, setting themselves up for success. They offered up several great and SIMPLE strategies that reduce friction, ease decision fatigue, and make it easier to stay on track. I also added some things I do to help me stay on track and do the things I've committed to doing. We came up with about twenty-five different things you can do to streamline your life and reduce the number of decisions you have to make.
