402. Tumbling Tabby: a children’s bedtime story and meditation

Grubby Kitty discovers packing peanuts — and makes a mess! But Dad is very patient. Hello everyone! We hope you enjoyed our new stories this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Tumbling Tabby,” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Male Story Begins: 8:16 Tumbling Tabby Excerpt: The afternoon sun poured through the big kitchen window onto the shelf placed under the window. The shelf was covered with some pretty fabric with flowers on it; Mom had put the fabric on the shelf to protect the shelf from scratches, but Grubby Kitty liked to think that she had put it there just for him, because it made a very cozy place to sleep. Grubby Kitty had discovered this wonderful napping location quite recently, and so this afternoon, like every other afternoon for the last two weeks, Grubby was curled up on the fabric, taking a nap in the warmth of the sun. But suddenly, ding-dong! The front doorbell rang. Grubby woke up with a shake. Fromthe other room, he heard Dad walk to the door, open it, and shout out “thank you!” Grubby was a little startled at first, as he had been deeply asleep and the noise surprised him. But he took a couple of big Dragon Breaths and felt much better. He stretched and yawned. Now he was wide awake and felt like exploring. Who had been at the door? 817. Sunny Solution: a calming bedtime story and meditation

Kiwoo Lizard finds that his favorite basking rock has been covered by a branch! How will he move it? Narrator: Male Story Begins: 3:49 Sunny Solution Excerpt: It was a sunny day on Ahway Island. The forest was alive with the cheerful songs of birds flitting from branch to branch. A soft breeze whispered through the trees, causing the leaves to dance. It was the kind of day that made you want to close your eyes and let the sunshine wash all over you. This was exactly what Kiwoo lizard had in mind for a day like today. Having woken up to the sun shining brightly through the trees, Kiwoo just knew he had to make a trip out to his favorite sun-bathing rock. The vibrant greenery of the forest and the warmth of the sun promised a perfect day of relaxation. With a grin and a gleeful hop, Kiwoo set out on his journey. His favorite rock was near the forest pond, and not too far away. As the little lizard strolled through the forest, he couldn’t help imagining what awaited him. Kiwoo sighed happily. He pictured himself basking there on his favorite rock – the warmth of the sun on his scales, the gentle forest breeze, the soft splish splash of the pond. 816. Astronaut Dragon: a story and relaxation for kids

Callie and Anora embark on an exciting space adventure with Dragon, exploring imaginary constellations. Narrator: Female Story Begins: 3:46 Astronaut Dragon Excerpt: Even though it was the weekend, Callie woke up especially early. Today she was going to play at her best friend Anora’s house. Callie and Anora had a lot in common. They both loved playing what they called “imagination stories,” where they would make up a story then act it out. Sometimes they were adventurers exploring a new land. Other times they pretended to be geologists, making discoveries about the planet. And other times, they pretended to be veterinarians, taking care of their stuffies as if they were real animals needing treatment. The best part of playing “imagination stories” is they could pretend to be anything they wanted to! On this day, Anora told Callie she had also invited over another friend – a new friend that Callie had never met. When Callie had asked who the friend was, Anora said it was Dragon! Having lived on Ahway Island for some time now, Callie had seen Dragon flying overhead in the sky, but had never actually met Dragon up close. Generally, Callie felt shy about meeting new friends, but Anora had spoken so nicely about Dragon that Callie felt more excited than shy. She was ready to meet Dragon. Narrator: Male Story Begins: 3:46 Imaginative Grass Excerpt: It was a brisk morning in the Animal Sanctuary on Ahway Island. The sun was shining over the pasture as the breeze made the grasses dance across the meadow. Horses grazed in the distance, their tails swaying back and forth. Ducks waddled on the shore of the pond, quacking in a chorus. At the edge of the forest, shade covered a large rock and a small patch of green grass. Narrator: Male Story Begins: 4:01 Loon Lessons Excerpt: It was evening on Ahway Island, and the waters of the lake sat peaceful and still. A gentle mist danced across its smooth surface, encircling the rocks and reeds by the shore. In the hushed calm a gentle birdsong emerged, mournful and otherworldly. The hauntingly beautiful melody echoed across the waters of the lake. On the lake, five little loons swam about, playing and gigging as they explored. When the song rang out, they all paused and listened, little beaks perked up in curiosity. Their papa, Leland, was calling them for dinner. It was time for them to come back to the nest and eat. Narrator: Female Story Begins: 3:40 Dragon's New Home Excerpt: It was a usual day in the Ahway Island forest. The truth was, it was a usual day for all the creatures of the forest except one: Dragon. Today, Dragon felt different, somehow. 799. Soft and Loud: a calming story and meditation for bedtime

Clara Clarinet learns the importance of listening when she meets Portia Piano. Narrator: Female Story Begins: 3:18 Soft and Loud Excerpt: It was a bright weekend morning on Ahway Island. Sunlight streamed through the leaves on the trees as a trio of sparrows flitted through the neighborhood. In the cheerful Olsen-Mueller house, Clara Clarinet was resting quietly in her cozy case that sat on the bookshelf in Lisa’s room. Clara had been given to Lisa on Lisa’s last birthday, and Clara loved when Lisa made music with her. The house had been silent for quite some time, and the peacefulness had lulled Clara to sleep. From her slumber, Clara heard footsteps and noises in the other room, and she instantly popped awake. A pair of familiar footsteps that Clara recognized became louder, and Clara knew that Lisa was nearby! 386. Catching Kindness: a children’s bedtime story and meditation

Holly the green airplane has a great idea! She wants to spread the feeling of love and kindness across the island. How will she do it? Hello everyone! We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Catching Kindness,” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Male Story Begins: 8:11 Catching Kindness Excerpt: Holly the green airplane rolled out of the hangar to catch a glimpse of the sky. Clouds formed a continuous fluffy blanket that dimmed the sun’s light to a soft glow. Holly sighed. “Oh well, it can’t be sunny all the time.” she thought. Then Holly felt the peace and calm the clouds carried with them. “Yes, the sparkling sunshine was nice, and so were the clouds.” the green plane decided. She smiled as she observed the airport vehicles. Everyone rolled by slowly. Some even grumbled as they looked up at the clouds. Holly’s eyes sparkled as an idea sparked a plan. Today would be the great day to spread some kindness around the island, starting with the other planes. The green airplane simply smiled as she passed Hawk, the red airplane. As Hawk caught Holly’s smile, the corners of his mouth started to turn up until the red plane smiled broadly back. Holly continued to smile at everyone she saw, and when she rolled past Herb, the yellow airplane, she stopped to say, “Hi Herb! Thank you for your help watering the fields the other day. I learned a lot!” Today’s Meditation: Relax in the grass as you imagine sunlight warming you from head to toe. Looking for stories with positive learning moments for your little one? 798. Shapes in the Stars: a soothing meditation and bedtime story

Callie and her parents have an evening of dancing and imagination under a bright, starry sky. Narrator: Male Story Begins: 3:45 Shapes in the Stars Excerpt: It was a beautiful evening on Ahway Island. The sky above was clear and cloudless, gradually fading from a vibrant blue, to a soft orange, to a gentle pink. The weather was just right – not too warm and not too cool – the kind of night that makes people want to spend time outside. And outside is just where the Kim family found themselves. Callie, after having a super fun day playing in her inflatable pool, sat on the back porch with her mom and dad. They had eaten dinner together, and now Callie was drawing pictures with colorful chalk on her patio. She drew all sorts of fantastic things – like a purple unicorn, and a red firetruck with a bright yellow hose. 797. Singing Bamboo: an original short story for kids

Huan and Baba the pandas embark on an adventure in the windy forest to discover the source of a mysterious song. Narrator: Male Story Begins: 3:54 Singing Bamboo Excerpt: It was a particularly windy Autumn day on Ahway Island. The breeze was so strong you could see the trees sway in the distance as sunlight illuminated the fluttering leaves on the dancing branches. Gusts of wind kicked up rocks and pebbles, rolling them down the hill. Loose leaves and branches tumbled about in the air. In the Animal Sanctuary, Huan panda and Baba panda were relaxing. Huan sat on a ledge on a hill. He gazed out at the trees and admired the vibrant colors of the leaves in their Autumn glory. Vivid shades of cherry and burgundy reds, burnt oranges, sunshine yellows, and mossy greens intermingled with each other on the tree lines above. Once surrounded by the ancient trees Dragon took a deep breath, in and out, enjoying the crisp scent of forest air. Grasses rustled up ahead. Dali the Drone goes on a fabulous evening adventure over Ahway Island! Narrator: Female Story Begins: 4:13 Delightful Drone Excerpt: The evening sky was like a giant canvas, stretching wide and open. The warm glow of the setting sun painted the clouds in pink, orange, and gold. The ocean below reflected the colors of the sky; the last rays of sunlight danced on its surface. The air was still, as though the whole world was holding its breath at the sunning sky. Dali Drone thought that this was one of the most beautiful sunsets she had ever seen. The little drone sat on the soft ground, patiently waiting for her special instructions. 795. Surprised Dragon: a kids’ relaxation and story

Dragon takes an unplanned adventure to the mountains after falling asleep on the Sparkling Train and discovers a new friend! Narrator: Female Story Begins: 3:39 Surprised Dragon Excerpt: It was a lazy afternoon on Ahway Island. The sun shined brightly. There wasn’t acloud in the sky nor a breeze to rustle the leaves of the trees. Many animals were taking an afternoon nap in the warmth of the sun. Everything was still, except Dragon, who was sitting by the side of the pond, dipping a toe into the water and watching the ripple it made on the surface. Dragon yawned, feeling peaceful and calm, but also a little curious. Truth be told, Dragon was always curious. Dragon loved to learn new things. Dragon loved to figure out how things worked. Dragon loved to understand why things happened a certain way and not another. Most of all, Dragon loved to explore Ahway Island and discover new places. And the best way to do that was to ride on the Sparkling Train. Today’s Meditation: Imagine that you are a graceful willow tree in today's meditation. Charlie Truck and his driver set off on a trip up the mountain! But can Charlie make the challenging drive? Narrator: Female Story Begins: 3:42 Sky-High Adventure Excerpt: In the early light of dawn, the sun tiptoed through the windows of Charlie Truck’s cozy garage, casting a warm glow on his metallic exterior. The air inside was soft and still, as though the space was holding its breath in anticipation for a special day. Nestled in his spot, Charlie gradually awoke to the sound of the garage door opening. Morning sunlight spilled in, silhouetting Charlie’s driver in golden light. Charlie’s tires tingled with anticipation as the driver approached with a smile. He wondered where they were going together today. Charlie’s driver secured some bags in Charlie’s truck bed and then hopped in the front seat. But before he turned on Charlie’s engine, he pulled a map of Ahway Island out of Charlie’s glove box. The driver unfolded the map and traced his finger over the lines and markings on the map. 793. A Joyful Swim: a meditation and soothing child’s tale

Shayla Shark decides to travel to the other side of the reef with her friend Sean Shark. What kinds of creatures will they see? Narrator: Male Story Begins: 4:09 A Joyful Swim Excerpt: It was a hot day on Ahway Island. The sky and the water were both a brilliant azure blue. It was so warm that all the sea creatures came out to have fun. No clouds were in sight—just the fluffy feathers of happy seagulls flying high above the sparkling waters. Today, Shayla Shark was swimming around the coral reef, not too far from her home, and not far from the Ahway Island shoreline. It was nice and warm near the shallow waters, so Shayla thought it was the perfect time to take a little swim. As she went, Shayla was careful not to bump into the beautiful, living coral that was part of the reef. Today’s Meditation: Picture floating in the safe and comforting waters of a tranquil pool. Winfield and Brian are ready for wheel fun! With the new wheelchair wheels they are ready to play anywhere. Hello everyone! We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Wheel Fun,” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday! Narrator: Female Story Begins: 10:52 Wheel Fun Excerpt: Brian and Winfield the wheelchair watched from the sidewalk as a group of kids gathered on the bumpy field. But this time they were ready with a surprise for their friends. Winfield had his new all-terrain wheels and felt excited to try them out. So, Brian smiled when Ian said, “Hi, Brian! Do you want to play with us? We can move over to the black top.” “You don’t have to move,” Brian answered proudly. “I’ll join you right where you are.” The other kids stopped playing, surprised at what Brian said and curious. With everyone’s attention Winfield turned his wheels towards the field and Brian pushed forward. They eased off of the sidewalk and onto the grass. Winfield held his breath, hoping he wouldn’t sink into the soft ground like he had so many times before. The bouncy wide wheels spread across the uneven ground. Even though the grass felt really soft, Winfield could tell rolling across it would be fine. He had to work a little more to move, and Brian had to work a little harder too. But here they were, playing with the others on the grass. Today’s Meditation: Draw gentle shapes in the soothing sand as you prepare for today's story. Wynne Wallaby explores her surroundings and meets other friendly animals. Narrator: Female Story Begins: 4:41 Welcome, Wallaby! Excerpt: In the cozy Ahway Island Forest, a bright, beautiful morning was just arriving. The trees stood tall and proud. Their leaves whispered in the gentle breeze. Sunbeams danced through the leaves, painting the ground with patches of light. In one of these patches, Wynne Wallaby and her mother were just waking up and beginning their day. The little wallaby was snuggled in her mother’s hug when the morning sunbeam tickled her tummy. Feeling the warmth, Wynne stretched. Wynne extended her four paws and her tail to their full length. Then she hopped up so she could nudge her mother’s nose with a cheerful good morning kiss. Wynne’s mother smiled at her eager little girl and stretched as well. 791. Beautiful Bracelet: a short story and guided meditation for kids

Ruby June makes a friendship bracelet for Lydia with the help of her mom. Narrator: Male Story Begins: 4:35 Beautiful Bracelet Excerpt: Ruby June sat in the comfortable couch in the salon, flipping through a glossy hair magazine. The air was filled with the soothing hum of hairdryers and the gentle chatter of stylists working their magic. Ruby June’s mother, Ms. Guerdy, was getting a fresh haircut, and while Ruby June waited for her mom to be finished, she explored the colorful world of hairstyles within the pages of the magazine. As she turned the pages, Ruby June stumbled upon a picture that caught her eye. The person in the photo had intricate, tight braids that reminded her of her friend Lydia’s beautiful hair. Lydia marked the page so she could come back to it later. Today’s Meditation: Feel your body fill with love as you imagine a puffin family and think about your own unique family.
