Season 9 has been such a joy! Season 9 Episode 9 // A Mighty Fortress

It has been such a joy to spend this spring with you on the podcast, as we’ve come around my new album, “Captivate Us; Live from Keeper’s Branch!” I’ve loved remembering the stories and truths behind these songs! And today, we’ll come around one that Nathan and I wrote as a genuine prayer for our family during an election year! “A Mighty Fortress” has been an anthem for our family in learning to set our eyes on Jesus, especially when the distractions and confusion set in! I hope you’ll join me as we look to God together today…our Hope, our Stronghold our Fortress! Season 9 Episode 8 // Captivate Us

In celebration of the full ALBUM RELEASE “Captivate Us” (available tomorrow, everywhere you listen to music!) we are going to come around this tried and true song that still carries so much heart and history in my story! This song is very descriptive of who Jesus is, even describing His face, His eyes, His hands, His loving arms—and though we don’t see Him now in the physical sense—I wonder if it helps prepare us for the day that we will see Him face to face! This song is really a “glorious in the mundane” kind of prayer, that I believe like 1 Peter 1 says, “guards us through faith, for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time!” I’ll talk to you soon!Pre-Save "Captivate Us" Listen to 'This is the Hour' Follow Christy on Socials: Website Facebook Twitter Instagram TikTok

Season 9 Episode 7 // For Your Splendor

It has been SO beautiful to get to share these songs (and stories behind the songs!) but most importantly, the truth imbedded in them! Today we are going to look at “For Your Splendor,” a new version of a tried and true song that is deeply personal to me. I’d even venture to say that it’s quintessential when it comes to my sound and heart as a worshiper! It is from Isaiah 61, and we’ll come around the vital posture of being planted in the Lord, and staying deeply connected to Him at our roots! Even though we might feel small, even cold and bare, we can be assured that we’ll still be standing in the storm! I’ll talk to you soon! Season 9 Episode 6 // Be Loved

I have LOVED this spring series so much! God has been reminding me of truth that He set in my heart, so long ago, knowing that I would need that truth to wash over me again, TODAY! We are going to remember together, that God always knows where to find us. Though there’s much temptation to just skip being made in the secret place (especially when we see the world around us charging forward!) God is preparing us, protecting us and will promote us when we wait in trust for Him. We will also look into the connection of God’s presence being one of the central ways that we are able to remain in the love of God, as Jesus commanded us. It’s going to be a beautiful time to even receive His love over us once more! I’ll talk to you soon! Season 9 Episode 5 // Knees to the Earth

Today we are celebrating the release of another EP called “Knees to the Earth,” which is the next three songs from the "Live from Keeper's Branch" album that we are unfolding this spring! Not only are these songs so sacred to us, many of them have very sacred stories behind them and today’s song emphasis, “Knees to the Earth,” is definitely one of those kind of stories! You don’t want to miss it! And you know me, it’s never just about the song or its story, but it’s always about the truth that’s set in them! Today we’ll keep coming around what it looks like to bloom where we are planted, even when it’s hidden and hard! We’ll encourage each other in waiting on the Lord, as we also learn to look for the ways He is speaking to us, leading us and is with us, as we’re being “made” in the secret! Season 9 Episode 4 - Lord I Need You

Okay so…somehow this episode got really personal! Did I actually just reveal what I want my “Grandma” name to be, someday? Or, maybe it feels personal because this song, “Lord, I Need You”, that we’ll come around today, is very dear to me! I’ll talk about being a part of writing it around a table of dear friends, who have been more like brothers to me. But, I’ll also give you some insight into being the only woman at that table, and in that community, for a very long time. It was both a privilege and a pruning ground that God used to grow me as a woman, songwriter and leader. I’ll also begin a narrative that I’ll carry throughout some of the other episodes this spring, about the very beginnings of God calling me to songwriting and worship leading. Rather than doors flying open and me, running with momentum, it was more a still—even sometimes silent and hidden—beginning. It was more that God had given me a deposit and a promise of something that was to come. But, of course, the way in which He’d have me carry that out, was to wait on Him to unfold the story in the way that only He could! I’ll talk to you soon! Season 9 Episode 2 - Breathe Your Name

It has been so beautiful to get to release some new, yet familiar—even tried and true songs—in this season! One of those is the song, “Breathe” paired with another beloved song, “Let it Be Jesus.” Today, I’ll take you back to the seasons I was in when I first began to sing and lead both of these beautiful songs. They were very significant seasons in my life and in my spiritual formation, and to merge them together on this new album is such a joy. It’s amazing how songs can truly become guideposts and guardrails in our journey, even a gateway to surrendering more of our heart to God’s heart! We’ll kind of walk through that gateway together, using these two songs, and talk about how God wants these proclamations we sing to become realities in our hearts and lives. “God, I breathe Your Name above everything,” is more than just a beautiful lyric! It’s a posture of resolve and rest, and a deep trust that everything we need is found in Jesus. I’ll talk to you soon! Today we will kick off a spring series in celebration of NEW (but familiar!) music—my EP “You Revive Me”, releases THIS WEEK wherever you listen to music! I’ve named today’s episode “Up ‘Till Now”, because this album (that will continue to unfold throughout the spring) feels like an Ebenezer moment, to stop and say, “Up ‘till now, the Lord has been our help!” He has been so faithful, so kind and true, even through some of the hardest seasons in life. Also, as promised, today I will share with you what I wrote and read at my precious Mama’s celebration of life! If you or someone you know has experienced loss this season, you’ll want to listen and pass this one along. There will be more to come with sharing some beautiful truths that I’ve learned and received from my sweet Mama’s legacy. But for now, this is me letting you in on some of the last days and hours of her precious life here on earth. When we released the beloved hymn, Be Thou My Vision, on November 10th, I could never have imagined that my mother would go Home to Jesus just eleven days later. This song would become a prophetic anthem for me to hold onto and sing over this season. Summer In The Psalms // Psalm 118 - Your Love Endures Forever

Okay, so this one made me weepy! Today we’ll be in Psalm 118 which is a part of the Hallel—a collection of six Psalms (113-118) that have been sung and recited on joyous occasions and festivals all throughout Israel’s history. We’ll remember together that Jesus would have sung these very Psalms as a little boy, as well as his disciples, and Psalm 118 was sung by Jesus and his disciples together just before they made their way to the Mount of Olives. It’s this beautiful picture of the power of worship when it’s rooted and grounded in timeless Scripture, but then experienced in the very presence of Jesus! May we be a part of the true worshipers who will worship in Spirit and in Truth, singing about God, TO God! Letting a new song arise in us, from our hearts to His. I’ll talk to you soon! Summer in the Psalms // Psalm 19 - The Promise Poured Out

Today we’re in beautiful Psalm 19 where we’ll remember together that God set revelation in the heavens that is pouring out promise over us day and night, night and day! This kind of framework, His order, His heart, His way, postures us to look into His rules, even His boundaries for us. To heed their warning—yes—but to also know the great reward in keeping His way! Certainly one of the greatest rewards is His very presence and even confession and repentance can afford us a closeness with Him that we might not find any other way! Today I’m going to tell you about some home renovations that Nate and I have embarked on this summer, just to let you in on a little bit of our world and the DIY adventures that we find ourselves swimming in! With all that going on, the Psalms have kept a steady STIRRING in me and I pray the Lord has used them in the same way for you! Today we will be in Psalm 66 together where we will explore the beautiful declaration of, “As for me, I will tell what He has done for my soul.” We’ll talk about leaning in with intentionality to tell God what He has done, as well as others! Yes, we’ll be reminded of the importance of surrounding ourselves with people who we experience Truth with. In celebration of my husband Nathan’s brand new album “Everywhere the River Goes” (available anywhere you listen to music!) we’re going to talk about this River and the beauty of staying within the River’s reach all the days of our lives! In fact, we’ll use the song titles to give us a grid for what this River’s work looks like in us and through us. There’s mention of this River in Psalm 46, today’s Psalm, as well as in Ezekiel 47. We’ll look at aspects of both of these beautiful passages that remind us of the teeming life that only God can give us and how important it is to stay near Him to flourish! I’ll talk to you soon! Last week we talked about a holy resolve, when we have a shift in perspective upon remembering what is TRUE about God, about ourselves and the world around us. This week we’re going to sit in a bit of a holy tension together in Psalm 88, which is a passage that’s not easy to get comfy in! But I am so excited to tell you that we have a VERY special guest joining us today! Summer In The Psalms // Psalm 73 - A Holy Resolve

I’m SO THRILLED that the SUMMER IN THE PSALMS series is back! I have needed this in my own life!! The lazy days of summer can be wonderful, but I find that it’s easy to drift from my rhythm of staying grounded in truth if I’m not careful. I hope this series meets you right on time in the same way! Today we’ll look at Psalm 73 together. It’s about as honest as it gets, I love it! We can glean so much from it as we witness the Psalmist sing of his struggle but most importantly, we get to see where he goes to find answers. The Psalmist is looking around him and things just don’t make sense. He has been careful to keep his life pure, but his only reward seems to be pain and turmoil. Yet, he looks around and sees people who don’t care a thing about God or His ways and they seem to have it all together! He assures us that he was tempted to say out loud what was REALLY in his head and his heart concerning his bitterness but—thankfully for you and me—he chooses a different path, a better resolve. One that you and I can see for ourselves today as we navigate a perplexing hour! I’ll talk to you soon! Season 7 Episode 2 - Evermore

New Episode Today!! Today we’ll come around these intriguing questions: What if His presence is really His plan for us? And, what if His will for our lives is simply to walk with Him and treasure His “withness” with us more than anything? The longer I live, the more I’m convinced that the mundane really is the platform that God uses to refine us and grow us…to even shape our lives for longevity! Our part in it is learning to be aware of His presence and being willing to consistently meet with Him in the rhythm of our ordinary days. I know for me, it’s easy to allow the thing I’m building FOR Him to blind me from truly just seeing Him. I’m also going to share a song with you today called “Evermore” that comes around this beautiful theme of His presence being what He values most on our behalf! Whatever it is that we’re putting our hearts and hands to—it ultimately won’t last unless we cultivate a real and lasting relationship with God. Come Magnify Mini Series // Home

NEW PODCAST TODAY!! Today I’m going to introduce a NEW SONG that is hands-down my favorite song that God has stirred in me yet. It’s that precious to me! Even days after writing it, I was sharing it but that’s mostly because of the encounter that I had with God on my front porch one evening. The song stands as a vivid reminder of not only that moment but of what I truly believe God desires for His people in this hour: That we would come HOME to His heart. Fully and completely. In John 14, Jesus was asked, “Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?” In verse 23 Jesus answered saying, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” Not only do I believe it’s possible for God to be our truest home this side of heaven, I believe it’s his plan for us. This is the brightest hope of our Gospel story…that we are reconciled to the Father’s arms in the here and now, because of Jesus! I’m tagging those of you who heard me squawk out (through tears) this story and the very beginnings of this song, even when I was still just reading the lyrics from my journal. And thanks to those of you who said, “You have to keep the ‘screen door’ line in the bridge!” As I remember those moments I can’t help but think…how beautiful is the Body of Christ!? That we have each other and we’re all a part of this Home together. May you find yourself further up and farther in, finding your truest home in His heart again today. Psalms for Summer’s End - Psalm 27

This Psalm is so near and dear to my heart! In fact, Nathan and I wrote a song based around this Psalm when we were still just dating. David models for us in this passage what it looks like to take refuge in God and let Him hide us and heal us but he’s also showing us something so important to pursue during seasons of hardship! I think there are so many ways that we can respond in painful seasons. There’s always plenty to complain about, lots of drama to post on social media and tons of ways that we can focus on ourselves as we’re trying to figure out what’s going to happen next! Thankfully, we have the Word of God over us today! It offers us LIFE and along with that life it offers us actual HELP in times of trouble. Thank You, Jesus! I love that David shows us HOW to actively wait on God and how to not waste the hardship! He models what to go after and what to be about and focus on when we don’t know what else to do! Psalms for Summer’s End - Psalm 1

I pray that these Psalms for Summer’s End have caused you to slow down and remember who and Whose you are in an otherwise very busy season! Today we’re in Psalm 1 , which has always connected me to Jeremiah 17, a passage that God used several years ago to pretty much break my heart open! I share about that pruning moment as we look at why these two “trees planted by streams of water” passages are so sharply contrasted with rooting our identity in anything or anyone else besides God! We’re also going to remember together what God values most for us as His people. My prayer is that this message will keep our hearts tender in loving and desiring what God desires and values on our behalf! Psalms For Summer's End - Psalm 8

Welcome back to the Psalms for Summer’s End podcast series! These episodes are some of my personal favorites that were previously released to my patron audience only and now we’re making them available to YOU! I hope that as we all anticipate the turning of the season that these truths will encourage and strengthen us along the way!Today you’ll hear all about our family’s FIRST trip to Lost Valley Ranch, a place–as many of you know–that would become a refuge for our family these past five years! It was when the Lord awakened us once again to wonder. Who-even-knew how a lope through a creek, on a horse, could change my life forever! We’ll be in Psalm 8 together today remembering the majesty and mindfulness of God in the way that He made us and blessed us at Creation! Looking to His Word together has a way of clearing our view like nothing else can. Even when we can’t see the full picture, we can see Jesus and the love of God in sending Him to us! Psalms For Summer's End - Psalm 90

Welcome back to the Psalms for Summer’s End podcast series! These near and dear podcast episodes were previously released to my patron audience only and now we’re making them available to YOU! These were recorded a few years back but God’s Word is living and active, so I hope that they meet you right where you are with the peace that only God can give!Today we’ll dive into a not-so-obvious Psalm that’s one of those that you love at the beginning but you have no idea what to do with the middle and then “yay!” the ending is back to the fun stuff! Following the circle of lament, we’ll learn to wrestle with that weighty stuff in the middle–that our lives are basically a vapor–here today, gone tomorrow. But, there’s HOPE in holding the tension that we can actually build something that long outlasts us, as we make the most of our own “once upon a time until kingdom come”. Psalms for Summer's End - Psalm 23

The world, with all its chaos and charm sets a trap. But Jesus…he sets a table. SURPRISE! I’m so excited to release this series of podcasts that have been so near and dear to my heart! These were originally created for my podcast patrons only and haven’t been released to the public until now! I called the series, “Summer in the Psalms” but since we’re nearing the golden hour of the summer of ‘22, I think we can receive them as “Psalms for Summer’s End.” (Makes me exhale just saying it!) Keep in mind that these podcasts are from a few summers ago! That means you’ll hear me talking about Noah’s 18th birthday, Annie’s 11th, and that Ellie was just 15! Can we all just stop and have a big ole cry over that? This summer they are 22, 15 and 19 going on 20. Time flies y’all. All the more reason to sit in the Psalms together as summer ends. In today’s episode we’ll talk a little bit about sheep (hello, us!) and how we have a perfect Shepherd who knows our every need. He is skillful in caring for his own and when we become receptive to that care, we find that all our wants and needs are satisfied in him alone. We’re accepted, we’re covered, we’re called by name….we’re home. Listen to 'This is the Hour' Watch 'Home' Follow Christy on Socials: Website Facebook Twitter Instagram TikTok

Season 5 Episode 15 // Always Remember to Never Forget

This was a little bit of an emotional process for me in getting this episode into your hands! Today we will come around the very last chapter in my new book The Life You Long For: Learning to Live from a Heart of Rest. The chapter we’ll look at is “Always Remember to Never Forget.” Whether you’ve heard my song titled this or read this chapter, I think today’s episode on this still stands alone! I think there’s no better time to remember together what I call “The Seven Wonders of the Beloved” in this chapter, which are the who, whose, when, where, how, what and why of our lives. These are prodding answers in the form of questions that help us remember who and whose we are so that we can stand faithfully in our “when”—knowing full-well “where” we are in Christ—so that we can be about the how, what and why or our day and our lives! I’ll be signing off for the summer with this episode. I hope it finds you holding fast to JESUS in these days. Much love and I’ll talk to you soon! -Christy Listen to 'This is the Hour' Watch 'Home' Follow Christy on Socials: Website Facebook Twitter Instagram TikTok

Season 5 Episode 14 // The Power of Small

I’m welcoming back my lovely friend @magenleighroberson as my co-host today as we come around what is shamelessly my FAVORITE chapter in my new book The Life You Long For: Learning to Live From a Heart of Rest. It’s called “The Power of Small” and what makes the small so powerful is that we serve a God of multiplication! And, I wonder if in these days when things still don’t look like they use to, if we are being invited to experience His multiplication in a way we never thought possible....to learn to trust Him in a new way with what we’ve been given, even when it seems hidden and small. I hope you are SO encouraged today, right where you are! Season 5 Episode 13 // The Heart of a Mother

Today we will pause from our regular podcast series to come around the beauty of the heart of a mother. Wherever you are in your journey, if you are a woman, you can carry a mother’s heart! You don’t have to be a mother physically to carry a mother’s heart spiritually! I pray that today you are reminded that you have a Father who delights in you and loves you and longs to FILL you with everything you need in order that you might freely give away what you’ve received! More than ever, this world needs mothers! May we allow a naming, nurturing and navigating heart to be formed and quickened in us in these days! NEW PODCAST TODAY! I had THE most beautiful time getting to catch up with the lovely @ellieholcomb today on the podcast! As you know I’ve been inviting friends and family to “co-host” with me during this season as a way of celebrating my new book The Life You Long For: Learning to Live From a Heart of Rest. Today we jump into one of my FAVORITE chapters in the book called “Everything is Mine in You” named after a song that Ellie and I wrote together the day we first met! It comes around the truth of 1 Corinthians 3 where Paul urges us to not boast in human leaders because “All things are ours in Christ!” What a truth to declare, even when we stand and ponder circumstances that seem impossible to overcome! We can thank Jesus today, that in Him, everything is ours today. Not earthly things, but Kingdom promises! You are going to LOVE hearing from the beloved Ellie Holcomb as we also talk about what’s going on in her world, including her new (gorgeous) song CANYON which is out now!! NEW PODCAST TODAY! My lovely co-host is the one and only @ginnyowensofficial and I’m so excited for you to get to hear from her heart and her life! We got to reminisce about our days of getting to tour together (over 20 years ago now!) and how grateful we are to still be friends after all this time! This week we are coming around the chapter called “Heart Like a Honeycomb” in my new book The Life You Long For: Learning to Live From a Heart of Rest. We will talk about the pursuit of REST in the middle of this restless world that we find ourselves in! Ginny was born with very poor eyesight and by the time she was three years old, she was completely blind. Ginny has AMAZED me for years—not just because of her Spidey-like-senses and her ability to put her make up on in the dark!—but because of her surrendered heart toward Jesus, no matter what. Today we get to come around HER new book called Singing in the Dark: Finding Hope in the Songs of Scripture. I’ve READ IT and I LOVE IT and even got to write the foreword for it!
