Summary

Welcome back to the Psalms for Summer’s End podcast series! These near and dear podcast episodes were previously released to my patron audience only and now we’re making them available to YOU! These were recorded a few years back but God’s Word is living and active, so I hope that they meet you right where you are with the peace that only God can give!

Today we’ll dive into a not-so-obvious Psalm that’s one of those that you love at the beginning but you have no idea what to do with the middle and then “yay!” the ending is back to the fun stuff! Following the circle of lament, we’ll learn to wrestle with that weighty stuff in the middle–that our lives are basically a vapor–here today, gone tomorrow. But, there’s HOPE in holding the tension that we can actually build something that long outlasts us, as we make the most of our own “once upon a time until kingdom come”.

My friend Emily texted me the other day about the interesting transition that summer can

0:41.4

be and said something to the effect of what a challenge it is to not fall off of the

0:46.2

serenity wagon and go completely off-grid in terms of daily rhythms that keep us in check.

0:53.7

So my prayer is that this summer in the Psalm series can keep us in that place of serenity

0:59.7

and focus even as we unplug in other areas of our lives during this season.

1:06.2

I shared with you last episode about how I was sort of looking at this summer in the

1:10.6

Psalm series from afar just having to completely trust in the Lord for the content.

1:17.0

When I read how much this podcast has meant to some of you, I'm always so blown away

1:21.9

and I really do mean that.

1:23.4

And it's because of the fact that somehow God comes through with what you need to hear.

1:28.6

And I pray that it will do that again today.

1:31.4

A few nights ago, as I was sort of hunkered down before bed to look through notes and sort of

1:36.8

search for the next bit of direction, my eyes were heavy and my brain was spinning a bit.

1:43.4

And I got about as far as typing out the title summer in the Psalms.

1:48.8

And that little cursor was sort of just sitting there blinking at me,

1:52.6

like a little timer counting the minutes till the next podcast was due, blinking at me to come up

1:58.3

with something. That's what I know. I need to shut the computer and fold my little legs
