Hey all you beautiful people and welcome to a surprise special edition of the Glorious

and the Mundane podcast. I'm your host Christine Ockles and I have missed all you beautiful people.

I hope this finds you well and it rests somehow in the busyness that summer can bring right from

the very start. We are already feeling it and I'm already being intentional to look forward at our

calendar just to make sure that we're building in margin and rest in these days to come because

it's tempting isn't it to just go and jet set while the structure of school life is kind of

non-existent for a few months. But we're looking forward to some travel but we're also trying to be

very mindful of unplugging when we can and I hope that you'll be mindful to do the same.

Well I thought I'd take a minute to update you a little bit on our family. We've honestly had

pretty hard heavy few months. If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen that we lost Nathan's

mom at the end of April and while she had been sick for a long time the end actually came quicker

than any of us were really prepared for. She went on hospice in December because the doctors had

really tried everything they knew to try and she was very weary of going back and forth and

in and out of the hospital and she was honestly just ready to see the Lord. She was only 69

but her body was so very limited in terms of quality of life and being able to get around

and she was just weary. On her first few months of being on hospice care all of us kids kind of

thought that she would maybe be around for a while because she seemed to be doing pretty well

and thankfully our family went to see her in January with the intent and we even said this out

loud to her and to each other that it could very well be our last time to see each other and so we

just went in very intentional and it was such a gift to be able to just sit with her for an entire day

and talk and share and she even let us go through some of her things and gave us each some special

heirlooms just stuff she wanted us to have and when we hug goodbye we hugged as those who carry
