When Is It Right to Judge Your Spouse? | A Marriage Without The Holy Spirit | Part 3

Should you judge your spouse? Most marriages are trying to solve outward division without ever addressing the inward condition creating it.Separation, division, and even divorce are not the root problem—they are the fruit of something deeper. There has never been a whole, healed, Spirit-governed husband and wife who produced the fruit of division. If division exists in the marriage, division first existed in the soul.In this episode, Derek breaks down the biblical difference between:— Sarkikos (fleshly, carnal)— Psuchikos (soulish, natural, unspiritual)— Pneumatikos (spiritual, governed by the Holy Spirit)

God Will Bless Your Decisions in Your Marriage | Marriage Wisdom Series

In this episode, we talk about the dangerous spiritual condition of indecision in marriage and why wavering faith keeps so many spouses trapped in cycles of delay, frustration, and false comfort. So many husbands and wives believe they are “just taking their time,” waiting for the right moment, the right response, or the right conditions—but indecision is not wisdom. It is often spiritual blindness, unbelief, and resistance to the promises of God.We break down the difference between double-mindedness, indecision, and wavering faith, and why Scripture makes it clear that your “yes” and your “amen” matter. Matthew 5, Hebrews 10, Romans 4, 2 Corinthians 1, and Romans 8 all reveal the same truth: when you lose sight of God’s promise, you begin making false vows, flesh-driven decisions, and agreements with fear instead of faith. This episode will challenge you to examine where your decisions in marriage are actually coming from. Are they rooted in God’s promises…or are they rooted in fear, offense, comfort, pride, and self-preservation?We also talk about the difference between spouses who are truly ready for healing and restoration versus those who are still operating from the flesh. There is a visible difference in heart posture when someone has made the decision: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”If you are standing for your marriage, contending for restoration, or trying to break destructive cycles in your home, this episode will confront the places where indecision has been costing you more than you realize.Your marriage does not need more hesitation. It needs your yes.Your only response to the promises of God should be:Amen.

The Spirit of Division | Winning the Emotional War in Marriage | Part 4

Part 4 exposes the spirit of division operating through a soulish spouse.Scripture draws a clear line between psuchikos (soulish) and pneumatikos (spiritual) in 1 Corinthians 15:42–50. One is governed by the soul—emotions, impulses, instability. The other is governed by the Spirit—life, order, and power. When a spouse is driven by emotions and not submitted to the Spirit, they remain soulish. And a soulish person is not neutral—they are divided, unstable, and susceptible to influence.

Is “Emotional Safety” Possible? | Winning the Emotional War in Marriage | Part 3

“Emotional safety” isn’t what you think it is……and chasing it may be the very thing destroying your marriage. In today’s episode, we confront a hard truth:Your emotions were never meant to lead your marriage. They were meant to be submitted, crucified, and resurrected in Christ.Because when emotions go ungoverned…they don’t just “express pain” — they produce fruit. And scripture is clear:Emotion → Action → FruitIf your marriage feels:— unstable— restless— full of anxiety, fear, or chaos— spiritually dry or disconnected…it is not random. It is the result of spiritual laws at work within the soul.In this episode, we walk through:— Why “emotional safety” is a misinformed and dangerous standard— How ungoverned emotions produce unbelief and unwillingness (Hebrews 3)— Why some spouses cannot receive anything from the Lord (James 1)— The direct connection between your emotional state and the fruit in your marriage— The difference between chaotic emotion and righteous indignation— How chaos manifests spiritually (shame, vengeance, destruction, pride, falsehood)— Why your healing will never come from analyzing your spouse— How to return to God’s design for your soul, your role, and your marriageThis is not a light message. It is a prophetic and scriptural warningfor any spouse who has allowed emotion to take lordship over their soul.Because the truth is:You are not stuck…You are not waiting…You are not powerless…You are either:— producing fruit from the Spirit—or producing fruit from the flesh…and your marriage is revealing which one.

Your Heart Lies About Your Spouse | Winning the Emotional War in Marriage | Part 2

You cannot trust your heart with your marriage.Your heart will lie to you.Your heart will justify what feels right…while producing what is wrong. Many spouses have become more committed to their emotions than they are to their covenant. They are slow to honor the vow that passed their lips…but quick to defend their feelings, their reactions, and their perspective. And Scripture directly confronts this.In this episode, we break down the biblical reality of the human heart:— deceitful (Jeremiah 17)— defiling (Mark 7)— darkened (Romans 1)— hardened (Hebrews 3)— self-deceived (James 1)If your emotions are not governed, they will become your master. And whatever masters you…will produce fruit in your marriage. But Psalm 119 gives us a different model.David didn’t trust his heart—he trained it.— he sought God with all his heart— he asked God to incline his heart— he stored the Word in his heart— he disciplined his heart to obeyEven in grief, pressure, and real opposition…his emotions never led him into sin. Why?Because he brought them under the authority of God’s Word before acting on them.In this episode, we walk through:• Why your heart cannot be trusted without transformation• How ungoverned emotions distort your view of your spouse• The discipline required to train your heart through Scripture• Why most marital conflict is fueled by unsanctified emotions• How the Word of God renews and governs your soulThis isn’t about suppressing emotions. It’s about refusing to let them lead.Because when your emotions lead, your marriage suffers. When the Word leads, your marriage transforms.

We are entering into a time where the weight and gravity of spiritual blindness in marriage is increasing. Many spouses are quietly grieving the life, covenant, and intimacy they once had… while simultaneously learning how to maintain the appearance of a functioning marriage. An external adornment is created to hide an internal condition.A public image replaces consecration.Performance replaces obedience.Narratives replace repentance. But the Spirit of God is confronting this in the church today. In this teaching, Derek walks through the biblical reality that many marriages are not failing because God has abandoned them — they are suffering because spouses are unwilling to be taught by Him.

The Devil Trains Your Senses to Hate Your Spouse

➡ Join The Marriage Academyhttps://establisheduniversity.com/marriage Most spouses think their frustration, irritation, numbness, or contempt is just “normal marital tension.”It’s not. When the enemy gains a foothold — what Paul calls topos — he does not waste it. He uses it. He builds on it. And over time, he trains your senses to respond unrighteously to the very covenant you once prayed for. This episode unpacks how temptation becomes sin, sin becomes open doors, open doors become transgression, transgression becomes iniquity… and eventually strongholds. And strongholds are not passive. They are fortresses set up against the righteousness of God — fortresses that begin shaping how you perceive, feel, interpret, and react to your spouse.Scripture shows us repeatedly that unclean spirits manifest in the temple — in the physiology and biology of the human body. They influenced strength (Mark 5), convulsions (Luke 9), infirmity (Luke 13), muteness and blindness (Matthew 9, 12), even overpowering aggression (Acts 19). The body responded to the presence of the spirit. So what makes you think they cannot condition your nervous system to feel anger at the sound of your spouse’s voice… numbness at their touch… exhaustion when peace is possible… or desire for what is outside your covenant?

Marital Blindness: The Hidden Stages BEFORE a Marriage Falls Apart

Most marriages do not collapse overnight. They decline in stages. In this episode, we uncover the biblical progression of spiritual destruction in marriage — not through psychology, not through cultural language like “drift” or “backsliding,” but through Scripture. We walk through the spiritual sequence that begins with failed temptations and trials and, if left unaccounted for, progresses into sin, open doors, footholds, transgression, iniquity, strongholds, oppression, and ultimately apostasy. Not all bondage is at the same level. But every level must be brought into the light.Ephesians 5:13 says that everything exposed by the light becomes visible. Many spouses do not recognize the depth of spiritual captivity operating in their marriage until it has already borne destructive fruit. By that point, blame is amplified, condemnation is exchanged, and the focus shifts to “what they did” instead of asking where blindness first began. We teach through the five stages that lead to marital destruction:• Spiritual Blindness • Spiritual Hiding • Spiritual Agreement • Spiritual Rebellion • Spiritual DestructionAnd we make something very clear: the first stage is blindness.Every person listening was blind, or is blind, in some area.We also break down the theological difference between trials and temptation, using Strong’s, Thayer’s, and the TDNT to show how God proves character while the flesh and the enemy seduce it. A trial reveals what is inside. A temptation exposes what has not been strengthened. When trials come and there is no character, sin follows. When temptation comes and there is no resistance, open doors form. And when sin is not repented of or renounced, it progresses. This episode is not about diagnosing your spouse. It is about bringing your own life into the refiner’s fire and asking:Where have I failed the trial? Where have I allowed the door to open? Where have I agreed with something that grieves the Father? We also confront a hard truth: many spouses elevate their personal grievances above what grieves God, condemning their spouse with a weight that was never theirs to carry, while simultaneously asking for mercy themselves. The law condemns. The Spirit brings life. The letter kills. Christ redeems from the curse.Today’s activation will lead you through identifying where you have participated in these stages and writing a letter of repentance to your spouse — not from shame, but from freedom. If you are serious about growing through the stages of marriage toward God’s design, this teaching will expose what must be exposed before restoration can deepen.

God Exposed My Dead Works as a Husband

There was a season in my life where I was striving at full effort as a husband… and producing nothing that carried eternal weight.I was praying.I was working.I was trying.I was providing. But I was unfit for good works. In this episode, I share openly from the heart of a husband who had to come to grips with a hard truth: you can be saved, gifted, and sincere — and still build your marriage on dead works. If you’ve ever felt like nothing in your marriage is enough…If your effort seems to leak out like wages in a bag with holes (Haggai 1)…If you are exhausted from fighting, striving, proving, performing…This conversation is for you.We walk through:The difference between trials and temptation — and the crisis-point where obedience is decidedHow dead works quietly take over Christian marriagesWhy some husbands are working hard but producing no fruitWhat it means to be created for good works (Ephesians 2:10)How your marriage is one of the primary ways you express your salvationI share the moment in my own deliverance journey where I wrote in my journal:“God, give me a revelation of good works.”I didn’t fully understand what I was asking for — but my spirit knew something was missing.Good works are not self-generated effort. They are works that originate from God’s nature, align with His design, and were prepared in advance for you to walk in.When a husband builds in his own name, the home carries strain. When a husband builds in God’s name, the home carries provision.Hebrews 9 tells us the blood of Christ cleanses our conscience from dead works so that we may serve the living God. That cleansing is not abstract theology — it changes how you lead your home.Your marriage is not just a relationship. It is one of the clearest places your salvation becomes visible. If this episode challenges you, comment below:What does a revelation of good works look like for you in your marriage? And if the Holy Spirit is convicting you — don’t resist it.Repent of dead works.Discard the former self.Build with gold, not straw. There is fruit waiting on the other side of obedience.

How Strongholds and Belief Systems Affect a Marriage

This is a complimentary module from The Marriage Academy:https://university.establishedfamily.com/marriage/ In this free Marriage Academy module, we confront the belief systems in marriage that quietly become strongholds—and the fruit they’ve been producing for years. This is Semester 2, Module 2 of The Marriage Academy, where we expose how lies, normalized thinking, and inherited belief systems shape marriages far more than behavior alone. Many couples repent of actions……but never renounce the belief systems that produced them.In this teaching, we walk through Scripture to show how belief systems are formed, how deception operates, and why fruit never changes until agreement changes.Using passages such as 2 Thessalonians 2, Ephesians 4, Romans 6, Matthew 7, John 15, and Jeremiah 6, we unpack how false beliefs about God, truth, identity, and marriage become operating systems that govern:• What feels “normal”• What gets protected• What gets justified• What gets passed down generationallyYou’ll learn why repentance alone is incomplete without renouncing agreement, and how Scripture consistently calls believers to reject, put off, deny, forsake, and cast away systems that oppose God’s truth. This module also addresses:• Why intelligent, high-capacity couples can still produce unhealthy fruit• How marriages unknowingly withhold righteous fruit from one another• Why you cannot serve two belief systems at once• How fruit reveals whether a belief system is still active• The difference between surface change and spiritual transitionBy the end of this teaching, you’ll be guided to:• Identify belief systems that have become strongholds• Renounce agreement with lies that shaped your marriage• Replace false belief systems with the truth of Scripture• Write a letter of repentance to your spouse for upholding false agreementsThis is not marriage advice. This is spiritual alignment. If you change the belief system, you change the fruit. This episode is a free release from The Marriage Academy, our 12-week, four-semester marriage program designed to re-establish marriages according to God’s design through teaching, activation, and transformation.

When Spouses Fall Out of Love | Marriage Wisdom Series

Brought to you by The Marriage Academyhttps://university.establishedfamily.com/marriage/ Most marriages don’t end because love disappeared. They end because something underneath love was compromised long before anyone admitted it.In this episode of Marriage Wisdom, we confront one of the most common — and most destructive — statements spoken in marriage:“I don’t love them anymore.”“I love them, but I’m not in love.”Scripture does not treat those words as emotional conclusions. It treats them as spiritual evidence.Using 1 Timothy 1:5, we expose the biblical anatomy of love and why love collapses when its foundation is fractured. According to Paul, love does not originate in feelings, attraction, or compatibility — it flows from:• a pure heart• a good conscience• a sincere faithWhen any one of those is compromised, love does not mature — it mutates. This episode dismantles the cultural and even Christianized lies surrounding love in marriage and reveals why “falling out of love” is never random, never neutral, and never harmless. It exposes how defiled desires, dulled consciences, and fractured faith reshape love into tolerance, self-preservation, distance, and eventual disengagement. We also confront the counterfeit replacements people are encouraged to pursue once love feels gone — “finding yourself,” “protecting your peace,” “moving on” — and why Scripture identifies those paths as meaningless talk, not healing. This is not a message about trying harder, fixing your spouse, or manufacturing emotion. It is a call to re-consecration, spiritual alignment, and learning how to war for your marriage with the right kind of love — covenant love rooted in righteousness, mercy, and faith. If love feels absent in your marriage, this episode will help you identify what actually failed, where repentance begins, and how restoration becomes possible again — not by redefining love, but by returning to its source.

The Real Reason Communication Fails in Marriage (9 Dangerous Lies) | Marriage Wisdom Series

If you and your spouse are always arguing, it’s not just a communication problem. In this episode of Marriage Wisdom, we confront the real reason conflict keeps resurfacing in marriages—even when both spouses “know better,” love God, or have tried counseling, books, and tools.Strife is not a personality trait.Contention is not a communication style. And conflict does not come from nowhere. Many marriages are unknowingly governed by a spirit of strife—one that retrains how you think, feel, react, and engage with your spouse long before a single word is spoken. In this episode, we expose 9 common lies about communication and conflict in marriage that quietly keep couples stuck in cycles of chaos, accusation, emotional retaliation, and shutdown. These lies sound reasonable. They often sound spiritual. But left unchallenged, they dismantle covenant from the inside out. You’ll learn:Why “it’s just a communication issue” is one of the most dangerous lies in marriageHow strife disguises itself as personality, upbringing, honesty, or strengthWhy frequency of arguing doesn’t matter nearly as much as accessHow unresolved contention reshapes your nervous system, reactions, and home atmosphereThe biblical difference between peacekeeping and peacemakingHow strife manifests differently in husbands, wives, and the marriage itselfWhy ignoring conflict doesn’t protect your children—it forms themScripture makes it clear: where there is strife, there is disorder—and every evil practice.Strife is not neutral. It disciples your home, shapes your children, and determines the spiritual atmosphere of your marriage. This episode is not about blame. It is about discernment, repentance, and restoration. If you’re ready to stop going in circles and start confronting the real issue, this conversation will bring clarity, conviction, and direction.📖 Scriptures Referenced:Proverbs 29:20Proverbs 18:2Proverbs 24:121 Corinthians 3:3Proverbs 10:12Galatians 5:19–21Proverbs 26:21Proverbs 15:18Proverbs 22:10Proverbs 27:15–16🛠 Ready for Real Transformation?Established Family Counseling offers structured 4-week and 8-week programs designed to confront unhealthy cycles, restore order, and help you walk out God’s design for marriage—whether individually or together with your spouse.Counseling with Derek & Jordan is reserved exclusively for 8-week clients under care.Every counselor on the Established Family team is personally discipled, trained, and spiritually aligned to provide true accountability—not surface-level advice.👉 Register here: https://www.establishedfamily.com/program

When the Spirit of Rejection Enters a Marriage | Marriage Wisdom Series

Brought to you by The Marriage Academy Most spouses think rejection is something that happened to them. Scripture reveals something far more confronting: rejection is something we come into agreement with. In this teaching, we expose how deception always precedes rejection—and why living from rejection reshapes your identity, your decisions, and ultimately the fruit of your marriage.Rejection does not stay emotional. It moves into authority. It changes how you reason, how you desire, how you protect yourself, and how you relate to God and your spouse. This message walks through:• Why rejection creates an orphan mindset in marriage• How deception opens legal access to fear, dread, and disorder• The difference between worldly wisdom and wisdom from above• Why self-protection kills spiritual authority and fruit• How the fear of the Lord restores identity, order, and flow• Why wisdom—not coping—is the requirement for marital healingYou will also hear a direct biblical confrontation from:Ephesians 4, Proverbs 10, Proverbs 13, Proverbs 24, James 1, James 3, and Proverbs 1–3.If you are a spouse standing for growth, healing, or restoration—this is not a message about feelings. This is a message about alignment, identity, and agreement. Rejection is not your end.But agreement with it will be.Wisdom is calling.Do not ignore her voice.

The 5 Stages of Marriage Destruction | “The Stages of Marriage”

This episode is about what happens long before a marriage ever reaches the point of divorce or full destruction. In this teaching, we break down the biblical stages of marriage destruction—the progressive spiritual drift that takes a covenant from God’s design into chaos, confusion, and eventually death.Scripture tells us that death is not sudden—it is what happens when chaos is complete. In this episode, we walk through:— Spiritual Blindness: when perception is dulled and truth is no longer discerned— Spiritual Hiding: when awareness surfaces but repentance is avoided— Spiritual Agreement: when dysfunction becomes normalized and empowered— Spiritual Rebellion: when correction becomes offensive and truth is resisted— Spiritual Destruction: when chaos is complete and the soul is exhaustedThis is not a psychological framework. This is not modern counseling language. This is a biblical map—rooted in Scripture—that exposes how marriages drift away from God’s design without realizing it.

Not All Marriage Counsel is Godly | Marriage Wisdom Series

Brought to you by The Marriage AcademyA marriage will never rise above the level of counsel surrounding it.In this message, Derek reveals one of the most overlooked causes of stalled, confused, and collapsing marriages: false, unconsecrated counsel. Not every pastor is safe. Not every therapist is God-led. Not every friend, mentor, or church is spiritually alive. And when the voices around your marriage are not governed by the Spirit of God, they don’t bring healing — they quietly pull you out of covenant.Scripture tells us that plans fail without counsel, but with many godly counselors they succeed (Proverbs 15:22). But the Bible also warns that wisdom from below is earthly, unspiritual, and even demonic (James 3). That means not all advice is neutral — some of it carries spiritual influence. In this teaching, you will learn:Why a spiritually dead counselor cannot produce spiritual fruit How false counsel becomes a demonic access point in marriage What consecration actually means in Scripture Why comfort is not the same as peace How to discern between wisdom from above and wisdom from below Why your relationships are either nourishing or poisoning your covenant How unconsecrated environments sabotage restoration Why deliverance, discipleship, and accountability are non-negotiable for growthYou were never meant to fight for your marriage alone. You were never meant to heal in isolation. And you were never meant to entrust your covenant to people who do not fear God.The Hebrew word picture for counsel means “the hand that knows the hook.”And when a marriage is under spiritual attack, there are hooks everywhere — in past trauma, in sin agreements, in false doctrine, and in emotional wounds. Without godly counsel, those hooks stay buried. With godly counsel, they are exposed and removed. This is a call to consecration. To be set apart. To be purified. To be surrounded by people who walk in truth, not comfort.God is bringing you relationships that will not flatter your flesh — but will protect your future.Proverbs 15:22Proverbs 24:6Proverbs 27:6Isaiah 5:20James 3:13–181 John 4:1Leviticus 20:7–8Romans 12:1Hebrews 5:141 Timothy 4:1Hebrews 12:152 Corinthians 3Ephesians 4Genesis 2:24

Spiritual Strongholds in Marriage | Marriage Wisdom Series

Brought to you by The Marriage Academy As we move beyond the foundations of inner healing and deliverance, we must learn how to identify spiritual strongholds—especially in our marriages and families. If we are going to live as sons and daughters of Christ, walking in covenant, functioning as the Body of Christ, and operating as a mobilized Ekklesia, we must be rooted in the right stronghold: Christ as our cornerstone and Christ as our defense. In this teaching, we unpack what spiritual strongholds actually are, how they form, and how they keep marriages bound—often hiding beneath what feels normal. Using Scripture, biblical language, and lived testimony, we expose how strongholds take root in the mind, emotions, identity, family lines, and even through demonic influence, and why they cannot be removed without repentance, truth, and spiritual authority. You’ll learn:What the Bible means by “strongholds” (and why they don’t form overnight)How agreement, legal access, and topos (territory) sustain bondageThe difference between temptation, sin patterns, and demonic strongholdsHow mental, emotional, and generational strongholds show up in marriageWhy distorted views of God, identity, and fear are not “just personality”How cycles of defeat and chronic spiritual resistance reveal deeper issuesWhy freedom begins with repentance, not behavior modificationHow to take every thought captive and walk in true authority in ChristThis message is for spouses who feel stuck, exhausted, spiritually heavy, or confused as to why years of effort haven’t produced lasting change. You are not alone. Freedom is not out of reach. And it is not too late.We close this teaching with a guided prayer of repentance, renunciation, and declaration—breaking agreement with fear, shame, pride, addiction, rejection, and every lie that has opposed the truth of God in your marriage and family.📖 Key Scriptures referenced include:2 Corinthians 10:4–5 • Philippians 4:6–9 • Exodus 20:5 • 2 Peter 3:9 (and more)If this teaching resonated with you:Like the videoSubscribe for more teachings on marriage, inner healing, and deliveranceShare this with a spouse or family who needs clarity and hopeYour prayers are heard. Foundations of Deliverance & Inner Healing in Marriage | Marriage Wisdom Series

Brought to you by The Marriage Academy Marriage Wisdom is a new series on The Established Family Podcast where we share timeless, biblical truths concerning God's heart and foundation for marriage. This clip lays the theological groundwork for why inner healing and deliverance are not optional for the believer—or for a marriage walking in God’s design.Salvation is not only about being forgiven; it is about being healed, delivered, and made whole. Scripture makes it clear that while the spirit is made alive and sealed in Christ, the soul—mind, will, emotions, and moral understanding—can still be influenced when lies, unforgiveness, and unrepented agreements remain unaddressed. In this teaching, we break down the biblical foundations for deliverance, the meaning of sozo, the reality of spiritual footholds (topos), and why many believers remain bound despite sincere faith. We confront the false belief that salvation alone guarantees freedom, and we expose how ignorance of God’s spiritual laws keeps marriages cycling in bondage rather than walking in Kingdom mission. This episode calls spouses into truth, repentance, and surrender—so that healing can move from concept to transformation, and marriage can reflect the fullness of God’s original intent.Freedom from sin’s penalty is not the end. Freedom from sin’s power is the goal.
