The Depot Dive - Episode 60 - June 17, 2025

June 17 – Ep. 60: On this episode of The Depot Dive, Ross McCorkle and Alex Kozora kick things off with a discussion on DeShon Elliott's extension and what it means for the secondary and the defense overall. Next, we discuss some of the positive reports about the running back room coming out of spring practices. How will the division of labor be divided between Jaylen Warren and Kaleb Johnson? And how does Kenneth Gainwell fit into that equation? For the third topic, we discuss Arthur Smith's "wishbone" comments and what that might mean for the direction of the offense overall. Will Aaron Rodgers' history or Smith's history hold more weight? We also discuss what that might mean for Roman Wilson's role with everything else going on with the offense. To wrap things up, we answer a listener question about Zach Frazier's potential after a great rookie season. Thank you for joining us for this 32-minute episode, and we hope to see your thoughts in the comment section. The Terrible Podcast — Talking State Of Steelers’ 2025 Offense, Rodgers' Relationship With Smith & More

June 16, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 148 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the state of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offense for the 2025 season and especially as it sits right now exiting mandatory minicamp. We goi over all of the positional groups on offense and give our thoughts on those relative to being improved or not versus this time last year. We express our concerns about the Steelers offensive line depth ahead of training camp getting underway. How will new QB Aaron Rodgers mesh with OC Arthur Smith in 2025? We address that question and also go over a few offensive stats that the Steelers must get better in when it comes to 2025. We discuss touchdown drives in the first two drives and much more. Alex and I discuss Smith's one season with the Atlanta Falcons that included QB Matt Ryan as the starter. We also talk about the chores that Rodgers will now have when it comes to him getting on the same page with all members of the offense prior to the regular season getting underway. Is there any chance that Rodgers is once again the Steelers' quarterback in 2026? If so, would Smith still be the team's offensive coordinator in such a scenario? We attempt to answer those two questions during this show. We close this show by discussing OLB T.J. Watt as it relates to fan perception during this offseason's contract negotiations. We look back at the fan perception from several years ago when Watt was aiming for a lucrative contract extension and how it's unlikely to be the same this offseason. This 80-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap. We end this show by answering several emails we received from listeners of the show. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Terrible Podcast — Talking Steelers' 2025 Minicamp Recap, Calvin Austin III, Darnell Washington, Joey Porter Jr. & More

June 13, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 147 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers’ recent mandatory minicamp that wrapped up on Thursday. We go over the few notable things that Steelers HC Mike Tomlin had to say on Thursday and that includes his thoughts on the team's contract situation with OLB T.J. Watt, the health of the squad coming out of minicamp, and the practice starting times for training camp. Alex and I talk about how Watt's contract situation is likely to be the biggest topic of discussion until the team reports to training camp in late July. We also talk about the prospects of any players not being able to practice fully once training camp gets underway. Throughout this show, Alex and I have fairly lengthy discussions about Steelers WR Calvin Austin III, TE Darnell Washington, CB Joey Porter Jr., and T Broderick Jones. Those were triggered by several comments made about those particular players by several members of the offensive coaching staff this past week. Should glove color be important to Porter in 2025? Alex and I make our thoughts on that question well known in this show. We go over our most significant takeaways from the Steelers 2025 mandatory minicamp. We also discuss the prospects of the Steelers adding another playmaker before the start of the 2025 regular season. Former Steelers WR Antonio Brown was unfortunately back in the news on Thursday for something negative, so Alex and I make sure to go over the specifics for that. This 92-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap. We end this show by answering several emails we received from listeners of the show. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Depot Dive - Episode 59 - June 12, 2025

June 12 – Ep. 59: On this episode of The Depot Dive, Ross McCorkle and Joe Clark dive into the Aaron Rodgers signing and the various topics discussed during his introductory press conference. How much say does he want in the offense and what will the dynamic be between him and OC Arthur Smith? Ross gives reasons to get excited for Rodgers given his extensive list of injuries last season and an offensive scheme that will protect him better in Pittsburgh. For the second topic, we talk about the most notable quotes from the various coordinator and coach interviews including Calvin Austin III as the WR2, Derrick Harmon being named a starter and Rodgers being compared to Peyton Manning. We then dive into Adam Schefter's report about Aaron Rodgers being the Steelers' third option and some clarifying comments he made on Wednesday about Justin Fields and Matthew Stafford that were particularly interesting. To wrap things up, we answer a listener question about a game we would like to travel back in time to see in person. Thank you for joining us for this 36-minute episode, and we hope to see your thoughts in the comment section. The Terrible Podcast — Talking Rodgers' Presser, Watt's Absence, Steelers Defensive Coaches' Comments & More

June 11, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 146 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers starting their 2025 mandatory minicamp on Tuesday. We go over the absence of Steelers OLB T.J. Watt for minicamp and the relation that has to his contract extension negotiations. We discuss whether Watt's minicamp absence is a big deal, what he's likely angling for, and the possibility that he might ultimately hold out at training camp if he doesn’t sign a contract extension by then. We also talk about how we still both expect Watt to sign an extension but that it might not get done for several more weeks. New Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers took part in his first practice with his new team on Tuesday, so Alex and I discuss that major event. Rodgers also met with the local media for the first time on Tuesday, so Alex and I make sure to parse out everything he said during that 15-minute session. Steelers HC Mike Tomlin also talked briefly on Tuesday, so we hit on a few key things he said after the first minicamp practice concluded. The finer details related to Rodgers' one-year contract are now known, so Alex and I go over those incentives and what his 2025 salary cap charge is scheduled to be. We also go over the Steelers' 2025 salary cap and cash spending situation now that Rodgers has signed his deal. All of the Steelers position coaches on the defensive side of the football talked to the media on Tuesday so Alex and I recap the most notable things to come out of those sessions. We do the same for defensive coordinator Teryl Austin and special teams coordinator Danny Smith as well as both also met with the media on Tuesday. A few comments from a few coaches on the offensive side of the football surfaced Wednesday morning during our show so Alex and I make sure to cover a few of those. This 80-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap. The Terrible Podcast — Talking Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers' Contract, Jaire Alexander Plausibility & More

June 9, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 145 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the one-year contract that new Pittsburgh Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers reportedly signed on Saturday. We go over what is known so far concerning the Rodgers' contract and what still needs to be learned when it comes to the incentives. We also discuss the difference between NLTBE and LTBE when it comes to the incentives. Alex and I discuss some of Rodgers' 2024 tape with the New York Jets and whether it looks like he can be successful in Pittsburgh and how. The Green Bay Packers are reportedly releasing CB Jaire Alexander on Monday and that has fans of the Steelers thinking the team should sign him. We go over what Alexander will likely be looking for when it comes to a new contract, if he fits with the Steelers, and the likelihood of Pittsburgh ultimately signing him. Free agent WR Gabe Davis reportedly will visit the New Orleans Saints soon, so Alex and I discuss that bit of news as well. It also looks like free agent RB Nick Chubb will be signing soon with the Houston Texans, so we cover that news. Was Rodgers really the Steelers' third quarterback option this offseason behind Justin Fields and Matthew Stafford? We discuss that report from ESPN's Adam Schefter over the weekend. Is it possible that the Steelers would pull the plug on Rodgers ahead of the 2025 trade deadline if things aren’t going well in Pittsburgh? Alex and I discuss that topic and if Rodgers could ultimately be traded ahead of the deadline. This 90-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap. June 6, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 144 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday episode, Alex Kozora and I get right back to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers finally agreeing to terms with veteran QB Aaron Rodgers. We discuss the good, bad, and other things related to Rodgers upon him arriving in Pittsburgh based on his 2024 season with the New York Jets. We go over the culture and attitude fit of Rodgers with the Steelers and if there are any concerns there. Some initial contract numbers for Rodgers are being floated around as of Friday morning so we go over who is reporting what when it comes to that contract. The Steelers reportedly made a phone call to the Atlanta Falcons concerning the availability of TE Kyle Pitts, so we make sure to recap that bit of news in this show. We also talk about free agent WR Gabe Davis reportedly coming to Pittsburgh on Thursday and leaving town unsigned. The Steelers made a few roster moves since our Wednesday show so Alex and I recap those transactions in this show. June 5, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 143 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Thursday night episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the big news earlier in the afternoon that free agent QB Aaron Rodgers will finally sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Alex and I go over our immediate reactions to the Rodgers' news breaking on Thursday and how glad we are this stage of the courtship is finally over with. We talk about how Rodgers will now at least be present for the Steelers mandatory minicamp next week and the positives related to that. Alex and I go over what Rodgers brings to the Steelers and that includes both positive and negative things. We discuss whether Rodgers and the rest of the Steelers offense can limit the amount of quarterback sacks and turnovers. Alex and I then address the expectations of the 2025 Steelers now that the team will have Rodgers at quarterback. While the money related to the Rodgers one-year contract he will reportedly sign is not yet known, we speculate what that might ultimately be. The Terrible Podcast — Talking Steelers' Camp Schedule, Parham Injury, Gabe Davis, Jonnu Smith, Ben On Mason & More

June 4, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 142 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the release of the Pittsburgh Steelers official 2025 training camp schedule. We go over key dates in training camp and much more. Steelers TE Donald Parham Jr. reportedly sustained an Achilles' injury on Tuesday, so we discuss what that means for him and the team. We also discuss the Steelers now seemingly being back in play to trade for Miami Dolphins TE Jonnu Smith as of Tuesday evening. We go over our thoughts on whether Smith is worth trading for, what the compensation should be and if he should have his contract increased and extended into at least 2026. The Steelers are reportedly bringing in former Jacksonville Jaguars WR Gabe Davis in for a visit this week, so Alex and I discuss that news some. We talk about whether Davis would fit in with the offense, what his role would be, and if both of us would be for the team signing him. Alex and I then discuss how much better, if any, the Steelers would be if they were to add both Smith and Davis this offseason on the heels of the team trading away WR George Pickens several weeks ago. With the second week of OTA practices now underway as of Tuesday, Alex and I discuss several things related to that topic. We go over TE Darnell Washington reportedly dropping some weight, ILB Cole Holcomb reportedly being back fully healthy and much more. We go over who was not present for the Tuesday OTA practice as well. Former Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger attempted to clear the air some regarding his current and past relationship with QB Mason Rudolph during his latest podcast episode, so Alex and I go over what he had to say on that topic. We also do a small exercise related to what pick the Steelers could have made instead of Rudolph during the 2018 NFL Draft that might have appeased Roethlisberger at the time. This 87-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap. We discuss whether we like that idea and what it would mean for the rest of the WR room and the roster as a whole. For the second topic, we discuss Albert Breer's theory of why the Steelers didn't draft Shedeur Sanders and what Mike Tomlin has to do with it. We also go off on a tangent about the Steelers' overall vision for the QB position as a whole. The Steelers parted ways with UDFA rookie DL Blake Mangelson over the weekend, so we make sure to hit that bit of team news briefly. The Steelers’ second set of OTA practices will take place this week, so Alex and I go over a few things we are hoping to learn over the course of the three-day session. May 30, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 140 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to the Thursday report concerning the Pittsburgh Steelers possibly being interested in trading for Miami Dolphins TE Jonnu Smith. We go over the specifics of that report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, how Smith would fit with the Steelers and the likelihood of such a trade ultimately happening. Alex and I discuss Steelers TE Connor Heyward and his chances of making the 53-man roster again this year on the heels of the Thursday report concerning the possible addition of Smith. Another Thursday report by Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports indicated that the Steelers are looking to add another playmaker on offense this offseason. We drill down that report some as well early in this show. The Steelers wrapped up their first set of OTA practices on Thursday so with that, Alex and I discuss a few things we think we learned over the course of the previous three days. We discuss T Broderick Jones and his weight comments, how he is settling in on the left side for starters. We discuss the tough road that Leal has this offseason when it comes to him being able to make the 53-man roster. Is Steelers CB Joey Porter Jr. primed for a big 2025 season? We go over his 2025 outlook and some of the things he said this week during the team's first OTA practices. In this Wednesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers signing rookie WR Montana Lemonious-Craig on Tuesday and how that now means the team has 91 players under contract. We also quickly go over the one-year contract that RB Trey Sermon recently signed in addition to the small signing bonuses that two other rookies reportedly received. The Steelers’ first day of OTA practices took place on Tuesday so Alex and I go over everything notable from that momentous event. We discuss the four veteran players, OLB T.J. Watt, WR DK Metcalf, CB Darius Slay, and G Isaac Seumalo, that were reportedly absent from the voluntary Tuesday OTA practice. Alex and I go over the overall health of the Steelers at the start of OTAs and how it was great to see several players that dealt with injuries last season all on the practice field participation. QB Mason Rudolph was one of several players that met the media on Tuesday, so we go over what he had to say. We also go over the notable things that several other players said after Tuesday’s first OTA practice as well. Former Steelers QB Terry Bradshaw had a lot to say during a Tuesday radio interview, so Alex and I make sure to review what the Hall of Famer said about the Steelers and their perceived pursuit of free agent QB Aaron Rodgers. Bradshaw isn’t a huge fan of Rodgers, so we cover that aspect as well as what he said about the Steelers and their handling of former QB Kenny Pickett. Is it possible that the Steelers do indeed have some level of interest in trading for Atlanta Falcons QB Kirk Cousins, and especially if they are unable to sign Rodgers? Alex and I discuss Cousins not being present for the start of Falcons OTAs on Tuesday and why June 1 could be a huge date on the calendar when it comes to Atlanta possibly trading him. Alex and I go over the timeline of the Steelers situation with Rodgers that has now exceeded two months since he had a meeting with the organization in Pittsburgh. We discuss if Rodgers really will ultimately play for just $10 million in 2025 and how he possibly not signing with the Steelers until after mandatory minicamp just stinks overall. We also discuss how many more wins that Rodgers would be worth to the Steelers versus Rudolph being the starter. This 94-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap. We end this show by answering several emails we received from listeners of the show. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

May 26, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 138 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into previewing the upcoming OTA sessions the Pittsburgh Steelers will go through beginning on Tuesday. We go over several things we will be looking for during the 2025 OTAs as it relates to several players, roles, and alignments. Veteran free age t QB Aaron Rodgers mase several interesting comments during a question-and-answer session at a recent musical event sop Alex and I make sure to go over those. We discuss whether or not Rodgers will sign with the Steelers in the next 24 hours and if it is fair to expect him to at least join the team by the start of the annual mandatory minicamp. Thanks to a recent study that Alex did on Steelers rookie QB Will Howard from his college career, we can effectively bust the recent narrative concerning his under-center experience as he enters the NFL. We go over his under-center snaps in college relative to all of the drafted quarterbacks this year. Alex and I go over my Steelers' cash-spending post that went up on the site on Sunday. We discuss how much more cash the Steelers should be expected to spend this offseason, who they are likely to spend that cash on, and why. While talking about cash spending as it relates to the Steelers, Alex and I discuss the difference between cash dollars and cap dollars. We also discuss what the NFL might do moving forward to potentially address cap integrity issues the league might be undergoing right now and especially since the COVID years. It's a lengthy conversation, but an informative one just the same. This 117-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap. May 23, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 137 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into talking about the latest news concerning the Pittsburgh Steelers and that includes the team signing rookie DT Derrick Harmon, the team's first round draft selection this year, to his rookie contract. Alex and I discuss the Steelers signing G Nick Broeker this week and the signing bonuses the team gave to their 10 undrafted free agents as well. Steelers president Art Rooney II recently made a small comment about the team waiting a little longer to get a decision from veteran free agent QB Aaron Rodgers, so we make sure to parse that. We also discuss a little quote from Rodgers during a recent long interview he had with Joe Rogan. Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay passed away a few days ago so we pay our respects to him during this show. The Tush Push is now staying around for at least one more season, so Alex and I discuss that news and the league's recent vote on possibly banning it. We discuss how that play impacts the Steelers moving forward into 2025 and if they should practice it and utilize it more. With Harmon now signed, I pass along a Steelers 2025 salary update and what it might mean for the team moving forward into the offseason. Alex and I also have an extraordinarily long discussion about where the Steelers now sit currently from a cash spending perspective for 2025. We talk about how the team should be expected to spend around $40 million more in cash this offseason and why. Alex and I also talk about how the Steelers have drafted as of late and the impact that has on their cash spending for this three-year phase, which ends in 2026. May 21, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 136 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into talking about the latest news concerning the Pittsburgh Steelers and that includes the waiving of OL Lecitus Smith on Tuesday. We go on to discuss the current depth issues facing the Steelers this summer when it comes to their offensive line unit. The NFL is addressing and voting on several rule change proposals on Wednesday, so Alex and I make sure to recap all of those. We discuss NFL players now being allowed to compete in the Olympics in flag football, the fairness of the Tush Push and the new rule concerning onside kickoffs. Alex and I briefly look ahead at the teams that might be looking to select a quarterback in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft and how that could impact the Steelers wanting to do so. We also briefly discuss how much work Steelers rookie QB Will Howard might get this summer in training camp and the preseason. Howard had an interview with Kay Adams at the annual NFL Rookie Premier event, so we go over a few things that he said during it. The Steelers reportedly indeed had some level of interest in trading for New Orleans Saints WR Chris Olave earlier in the offseason, so Alex and I go over that little nugget that was passed along on Wednesday morning. Alex and I then move on to talk about Steelers rookie RB Kaleb Johnson as it relates to his pass protection ability in college. We go over what the tape says concerning that phase of his game. Steelers DT Cameron Heyward made his thoughts known recently about the team's travel plans for their last international game several years ago, so we make sure to go over his comments on that topic. May 20 – Ep. 56: On this episode of The Depot Dive, Ross McCorkle and Joe Clark kick things off by discussing some comments made by former Steelers QB Charlie Batch. They debate his opinion about Mason Rudolph potentially gaining an edge over Aaron Rodgers if he waits too long to sign. We talk about that opinion as well as some things said by his biographer at the end of last week. For the second topic, we discuss Mason Rudolph's interview on Kaboly + Mack where he talks about the QB depth chart, getting acclimated to Arthur Smith's offense and more. Finally, we discuss the annual media projections of the Steelers having their first losing season under Mike Tomlin and why that is unlikely to happen regardless of who is at quarterback.
