I'm Josh Carney. Following the selection of Maxi Hanachor in the first round of the 26 NFL

draft, a player that played primarily right tackle in college across 32 career games,

speculation is run rampant regarding what the Steelers could do along the offensive line

to fit Ianonachor

into the lineup. The easy swap seems to be moving right tackle Troy Falano, back to his more

natural left tackle position, the spot he played in college at Washington. But thanks to a small

comment from head coach Mike McCarthy, there's some growing belief that Falano could move to

left guard of all positions. While that would make some sense in a vacuum that doesn't seem like

the best idea for the Steelers' offensive line moving forward, Faltonu is a tackle and a pretty good one at

that. Keeping him at right tackle or moving him to left tackle seem like the only

logical moves, especially after the Steelers drafted Jennings Dunker in the third round with the

vision of moving him to guard and signing Brock Hoffman in free agency too. Ideally, this is how the

offensive line will look to open 2026 left to right. Fautano, Dunker, Zach Frazier,

Mason McCormick, and Ian Achor, with the likes of Dylan Cook, Hoffman, Spencer Anderson,

and Ryan McCollum as depth, with Roderick Jones as the major question mark. If Jones is healthy

and cleared in trading camp, you keep him at left tackle, Falano at right tackle, and insert Dunker in at left guard, allowing Ionachor

to keep developing behind the seats. But the talk of moving Faltano to left guard seems far-fetched

and would be a disservice to the Steelers' offensive line in year one under new position

coaches James Campin and Jari Evans.
