Expectations and hopes were high entering the 2025 season for then-Ry running back Caleb Johnson of Pittsburgh Steelers.

He was perceived as a perfect fit, an offensive coordinator Arthur Smith scheme,

and as a third-round pick looked like the next up-and-coming back in the Steel City.

His rookie season was largely a disaster, though,

punctuated by a special team's gaff that cost the Steelers dearly

in an early season loss. Since then, a lot has changed in Pittsburgh. Mike Tomlin resigned. Smith went

to Ohio State, and the Steelers signed veteran Rico Dowdow in free agency and drafted Eli

Heidenreich in the 26 NFL draft. Right now, Johnson feels a bit like the Hydenreich in the 2026 NFL draft.
