There are a pair of recent third-round draft picks on the Pittsburgh Steelers roster whose roster spot should not be considered a lock this

upcoming season. I'm, of course, talking about Roman Wilson and Caleb Johnson. Roman Wilson

entering year three, Caleb Johnson entering year two. Under most circumstances, you don't move on

from those kinds of players this early, And maybe the Steelers don't,

but I'm going to make the case today for why they could get cut,

or even traded for late-round draft picks.

As for Roman Wilson,

the Steelers traded for Michael Pittman Jr.,

and then traded up to draft Jeremy Bernard in the second round.

When you start to do the roster math, you have D.K. Metcalf, Pitman, Bernard, Ben Scaronic,

who's a lock as a special teamer, and probably Caden Weegean in that same boat as the return specialist.

Wilson could get the sixth spot. It depends how many they end up keeping.
