Here is my invisible string theory. Fifteen years ago, I used to sit in my childhood bedroom and listen to a group called The Jackie Boyz. HERE THE JUICE: The importance of pursuing a gift for music and not allowing perfectionism to stand in the way of progression Carlos breaks down an original song that he wrote, processing a difficult time in his life and how that song was reworked to become one of Justin Bieber's greatest hits. Ep 141. Do you know your top five values? Or even your top three? Often, we think we are making decisions based on our values, but we may be unknowingly making decisions based on our fears. This week, Dr. Molly Burrets, a highly regarded licensed clinical psychologist and professor at the University of Southern California (USC), is breaking down the psychology behind values-based decision-making. If you’re someone who often feels at odds when making decisions, like two parts of your brain are arguing and pulling apart from each other? Dr. Molly expertly explains what is happening on a psychological level and how to break the cycle we often find ourselves in when fear creeps into our decision-making. She breaks down the dynamics of control – why we seek control to gain safety and how this can hinder our ability to attain genuine connection in our relationships. Her insights on the pursuit of safety, with control leading to hypervigilance, were truly one of those moments on the podcast that will stop you in your tracks. Dr. Molly is truly brilliant with unwavering emotional intelligence. She breaks down everything from learning your no’s to why high-achieving women often struggle with connection. This episode is for anyone who has ever had to make a difficult decision and wondered or doubted if they made the right choice. HERE'S THE JUICE: The life-changing knowledge that things are going to go wrong, why practicing radical acceptance in place of avoidance could change your life Why do we often take control in an attempt to gain safety? Is it possible to experience joy and control simultaneously? How to quiet your mind to notice what is meant to you in life – the phone is constantly ringing, but we have to learn to pick up. Breaking down why our unhealthy coping mechanisms are often what is preventing us from following the path that is meant for us in life The importance of noticing your own body daily and learning how to listen to what it is telling you Tangible language to use when exercising a “no” with both the relationships we want to keep and relationships we want to let go of Why using safe people to practice our “no’s” is the key to setting larger boundaries in life. Three years ago, I felt completely lost. I was paralyzed by this feeling that my life no longer matched my purpose — like I needed to step back, stop the ship, and change course, even though nothing was “wrong.” During my yearly birthday reading with master intuitive Nikki Novo, she told me that my soul was renegotiating its contract and was ready to bring some deeper medicine to the world. “For some reason I’m seeing you at the end of your life… and you’re going to die being known as an artist.” As an herbalist, I was confused. I thought the holistic health world and business was my calling. I thought I already created my “thing.” But what if that was a chapter, one way to share, but not even scratching the surface of my gifts? For those years, I sat through my grueling death and rebirth, holding onto her words. Finally, my art came. I painted for 9 months straight, then woke up one day, decided to finally own my true gifts, and started writing music. Today, I have completed writing and recording my first album, prepping for release later this year. In this episode, I sit down with the woman who always sees my life coming before I do. Her highly accurate predictions have hinted for years about my journey with music and so much more. We dive into the behind-the-scenes of her readings and the importance of creating rituals around creativity. Nikki shares her story of telling her family about her gift and moving from a place of generational survival to creativity. If you, like me, feel you are ready to step into your natural born gifts but don’t know how to identify or share them, this one is for you! HERE'S THE JUICE: Why the relationship between our inner creative and our inner manager is vital to allowing the space for us to create – oftentimes, a certain level of safety is needed before we can make art Identifying your natural born gifts and the importance of respecting them for them to grow The deep power of rituals around creating art and identifying a practice for yourself to trust that you will be able to tune into your creativity when you want to The profound importance of seeing gifts in others and the understanding that for a gift to turn into a talent it needs to be valued - why you only need one person to see your gift and hold that higher vision for it Walking the line between sharing too much in readings and the importance of not changing our path – What Nikki feels a reading should be used for Connect with Olivia: Watch the full episode on What’s The Juice YouTube Channel To support our ad-free show, shop Olivia’s line of herbalist-formulated supplements for digestion, anxiety, thyroid support, and more by visiting www.organicolivia.com. Ep 138. Have you ever wondered when we learn to stop being honest with ourselves, and how this teaches us to suppress our body’s signals? What if learning the truth is unsafe starts in our family systems — and how do we begin to tell the truth as adults? Nina Passero, FDN-P and my BFF is back on the pod! Nina has genuinely had one of the most intense journeys these past 6 years, from losing her beloved brother Matteo, to becoming a mother, to unpacking the taboo truths about grief that we never learn until we have to. This time, we are sitting down for a much more intimate chat. This is one of those conversations that speaks to the heart of our friendship. We’re breaking down the parallels between motherhood and grief, we dig into the strength of our friendship, why it’s lasted as long as it has, and the key factors that have kept it healthy. Nina is one of the best humans I know, and I’m so honored to be able to share this conversation with our community. HERE'S THE JUICE: Do we bring hidden expectations into friendships? The role of contracts in business, and friendship – why they might have more in common than you think The importance of expanding our capacity to be with life and death – shifting your mindset to understand the importance of meditating on our own death and seeing life from a different perspective as a result The profound importance of honesty in a friendship and the key reasons why we often struggle in friendships as adults – bringing it back to the root cause to identify if we are operating from a place of fear Why do we often fail to see the interplay between intimacy and responsibility? This suggests that responsibility may be the thing we fear most The difference between keeping score and maintaining healthy relational dynamics – It's 2025, we’re not keeping score Connect with Olivia: Watch the full episode on What’s The Juice YouTube Channel To support our ad-free show, shop Olivia’s line of herbalist-formulated supplements for digestion, anxiety, thyroid support, and more by visiting www.organicolivia.com. Ep 137 Have you ever wished you could curate more magic into your daily life? Building a routine is so important but how do we take our routines a step further to ritualize the mundane? We’re all guilty of rushing through our days to maximize productivity, yet slowing wayyyy down allows us to find meaning in the in-between moments. In this episode, I’m taking you through some of the special daily & seasonal rituals that have helped me mark important moments in time, incorporate prayer and mindfulness to really understand what’s happening in my life, and shifted my mindset to see the beauty of what is in front of me. We think that the impactful moments in life have to all be large but the real moments are as small as appreciating warm socks, climbing into a made bed, or gentle movement. Turning an everyday task into something sacred can be the first step to shifting our minds to a state of gratitude. Through developing a ritual around daily and seasonal practices we can nurture a deeper relationship with ourselves, and our ancestors to make our day-to-day life just a little bit sweeter. HERE'S THE JUICE: Why we need to understand the difference between routine and ritual & how to use presence to transform everyday tasks Olivia's entire morning regimen and the science behind each element How to create sacred space through simple practices like phone-free walks The transformative power of the Jupiter Kazemi weekend and how it changed her approach to play How to bring ritual into herbalism and plants and the importance of maintaining an altar space for ancestral connection The real reason slowing down will deeply change your relationship with daily tasks and the power of listening to signs and synchronicities in everyday life The subtle art of noticing in order to receive guidance from the world around you Connect with Olivia: Watch the full episode on What’s The Juice YouTube Channel To support our ad-free show, shop Olivia’s line of herbalist-formulated supplements for digestion, anxiety, thyroid support, and more by visiting www.organicolivia.com. Ep 136 Do you feel like you’re ready to be the main character in your story — but all your life you’ve been in a supporting role? Are you trying to pursue your calling, but perfectionism and the fear of being seen are holding you back? Today we have a very special guest on the podcast for a much needed heart to heart.. this is the type of conversation that women have behind closed doors that helps us to heal and deeply witness one another. Noelle is joining us today for real talk on the intricacies of motherhood, the terrifying but thrilling prospect of owning your gifts and no longer playing small, and taking back your OWN life no matter what that looks like to you. Noelle is here to break down everything from starting her “Fit + Thick” career behind the scenes with her sister, to realizing she was worthy of being on the forefront too, and how the concept of “messy action” got her through it. This conversation was such a gift to record and truly highlights the importance of holding a vision for those we love and the deep power friendship can have. HERE'S THE JUICE: Noelle’s journey from living in her mind to truly inhabiting her body and the vulnerability of starting over and letting go of anger How to take messy action, Noelle shares on working with her sister, and the unexpected challenges that pushed her forward. Unpacking the realizations Noelle had to have to step into her own story – understanding that you can only meet people as deeply as you have met yourself. Why motherhood has the potential to push us to become better versions of ourselves and tangible tools to harness that potential if you are feeling overwhelmed Recognizing that everything, cleaning, cooking, playing with your child, can be an opportunity for nervous system work. Truly understanding that our parents’ nervous system dysregulation is not ours to carry. Learning to meet yourself with curiosity, unlearning what no longer serves you, and having the courage to be honest about what we are holding on to. How believing in someone, before they believe in themselves, can be life-changing and the importance of holding a high vision for those we love To support our ad-free show, shop Olivia’s line of herbalist-formulated supplements for digestion, anxiety, thyroid support, and more by visiting www.organicolivia.com. Ep. 135 Do you feel like there’s often a rebellious, childlike part of you calling the shots despite your best efforts to take action aligned with your goals? Does she procrastinate to the point of self-sabotage, or go for the box of cookies when you know a solid meal is what you need? Does this rebellion come out when you’re working to an extreme, being especially hard on yourself or tying your worth solely to your productivity? This is where “reparenting” ourselves comes in: the part of adulthood where we realize it’s our job to be our own parent, but we have no idea where to start when a parent was also unkind to themselves or not in touch with their own worth and needs. Over the last four years, I've slowly learned how to answer the question, "what do I need right now?" — sometimes it’s good old discipline, other times it’s connection or rest. I found that I got to recreate my own “inner mother” who was capable of being honest and curious enough to make the call from a place of trust and self knowing, but it wasn’t easy to get there. I'm walking you through every step I had to go through to move from self-criticism to self-parenting. HERE'S THE JUICE: Could letting go of perfectionism and competition help us rediscover joy and authentic self-expression? How to shift away from productivity-based self-worth to intrinsic self-worth & why treating yourself with kindness can be used as a tool to build self-trust over time Practical steps for developing your inner mother voice through accessible day-to-day actions such as unstructured play to explore creativity How to self-regulate and break the cycles of self-avoidance we might have formed in our childhood Ways to recognize when your inner child is running the show and possibly hindering your day to day without us even realizing it TIMESTAMPS: Watch the full episode on What’s The Juice YouTube Channel To support our ad-free show, shop Olivia’s line of herbalist-formulated supplements for digestion, anxiety, thyroid support, and more by visiting www.organicolivia.com. Ep 134. I recently had a transformative experience where I felt called to lay down before bed and allow my “higher self” to thank me for all the work I’ve done up to this point. I had the thought to voice record the process, where I simply talked to myself and said all the things we never acknowledge or validate out loud but need to hear — not from the outside world, but from ourselves. Afterwards, I decided to plug the transcript of the voice recording into ChatGPT… and I was shocked at how valuable it was to not only have this healing moment and my own words recollected in such detail, but to have actual helpful prompts that made this like a therapy session with valuable take aways & homework. While I don’t believe that AI should be creating our visual artwork or writing our blog posts, I've found that it can be incredibly useful for self reflection and introspection and I wanted to share the exact formula of how I completed this process, as it was so deeply healing for my inner child to hear these words come out of my mouth. So this week, I’m sharing the exact therapeutic practice that I created (with AI!) to connect with my higher self. If you’re feeling called to jump back into a creative flow or are looking for a cost conscious, unconventional tool to help you in your personal growth, this is the perfect place to start. HERE'S THE JUICE: Why understanding Internal Family Systems (IFS) can unlock deep healing by finally embracing all parts of yourself The importance of “talking to yourself” out loud and letting the wise voice inside of you speak with direct insights, appreciation, and advice How to turn this self-conversation into actionable prompts that will further your mental health using AI How to build better self awareness and why it’s necessary for lasting behavioral change The hidden power of rest and why it’s just as crucial as productivity for person growth - understanding the path that got you to where you are may not be the path that elevates you to your next step in life What exactly does AI have in common with talk therapy? Could it potentially act as a cost effective mental health tool? Ep 133. In today's solo episode, I'm breaking down how I went from relying on cannabis daily for just shy of 10 years, to giving it up almost entirely. I'm discussing the two questions I had to ask myself to start this journey: who am I when everything else is stripped away (and what am I willing to do to meet her), and who am I when I let the pain I’m avoiding change me? I’ll be sharing the pros and cons – including the way this plant initially supported me, the confusion between its role in stress relief and helping us put off changing stressful conditions, tools I used during the quitting period, Traditional Chinese Medicine's view of habitual use, why this plant helps us to access our creativity, and how to believe that you can still be creative without it. Lastly, I'm sharing my relationship with the plant today and whether or not it still has a place in my life. HERE'S THE JUICE Olivia's personal journey with cannabis from day one through her decade-long reliance, all the way to making her decision to quit How the nature of cannabis is dissociative, which can be beneficial for certain conditions with a fine line of becoming maladaptive Why a desire to use cannabis or any other substance is really your nervous system seeking safety and how to have immense compassion for yourself How cannabis can become a crutch for socializing and connecting with people Traditional Chinese Medicine’s interesting take on cannabis use Olivia’s top tools for quitting cannabis and how to navigate withdrawal symptoms Why your “addictive personality” may actually be an element of your giftedness Watch the full episode on What’s The Juice YouTube Channel To support our ad-free show, shop Olivia’s line of herbalist-formulated supplements for digestion, anxiety, thyroid support, and more by visiting www.organicolivia.com. Ep 132. Why are friendship breakups even more dramatic than romantic ones, and how might they teach us about deeper patterns of behavior we may need to break? In this solo episode, I share my experience of losing close friendships, as well as how I’ve maintained and nurtured long-term, healthy relationships. I'm breaking down the #1 sign I look for in myself and others to know if there is capacity to be a “good friend,” why we often enter dynamics that recreate the one we shared with our mother until the dynamic becomes conscious, and why sometimes it “has to be dramatic” in order for the pattern to be witnessed and broken. Whether you're currently struggling with friendships or looking to deepen your existing relationships, I hope this episode will make you feel a whole lot less messy – and a lot more understood. HERE'S THE JUICE The number 1 sign of a healthy friendship How to have both compassion & high standards for the relationships in your life How to know if it’s just a mistake, or a repeated pattern of behavior How to avoid friendship breakups in the future by looking for red flags in your OWN behavior, not theirs, when you’re around them The importance of personal responsibility and how to develop this lens in conflict How to grow together in a long term friendship without growing apart How to create a relationship with yourself first to truly enjoy connection, rather than “fulfill a need” The ways childhood wounds and "mother wounds" shape our friendship patterns Why it's okay to be "choosy" about who you let into your inner circle Why loneliness can actually be an unexpected medicine Watch the full episode on What’s The Juice YouTube Channel To support our ad-free show, shop Olivia’s line of herbalist-formulated supplements for digestion, anxiety, thyroid support, and more by visiting www.organicolivia.com. Ep 132. Why are chronic symptoms more common among “type A” perfectionists who struggle to slow down? How does the nervous system directly connect to histamine intolerance? We are back with Michelle Shapiro, RD for a deeply moving conversation on what it actually means to “regulate your nervous system” in a world where social media makes it look easy. If you’re dealing with mystery, chronic histamine symptoms – this is the missing piece you need to know in order to begin feeling safe in your body once again. In this part 2 deep dive, Michelle Shapiro explains the crucial connection between anxiety, nervous system dysregulation and chronic immune activation. She shares why the path to healing requires both practical tools to reduce symptoms in the moment AND addressing the emotional patterns that keep our bodies stuck in fight-or-flight mode. Michelle also walks us through how to “separate the symptoms from the response to the symptom,” build nervous system resilience by learning how to say no, owning your “weird,” setting boundaries, and embracing your authentic needs. For anyone feeling trapped in a spiral of unbearable symptoms, this episode provides a road map for creating safety within your body, even when you are at your lowest. HERE'S THE JUICE: Why nervous system activation could be the missing piece to healing histamine issues Why chronic illness often appears in "hypervigilant people pleasers" The paradox of spiritual healing vs. immediate symptom management How trauma and childhood experiences shape our threat response The importance of creating physical and emotional safety in order to heal Why relationships and community support are crucial for nervous system regulation Tools and tips to expand your nervous system capacity while still living your life Why symptoms are temporary messengers The role of the limbic system in MCAS What’s happening on a cellular level during a histamine flare Watch the full episode on What’s The Juice YouTube Channel To support our ad-free show, shop Olivia’s line of herbalist-formulated supplements for digestion, anxiety, thyroid support, and more by visiting www.organicolivia.com. Ep 130. Welcome to Season 6, and the mark of a brand new chapter for What’s The Juice Podcast. Wellness is changing, humanity as a collective is changing… each and every one of us are going through huge internal shifts right now. When I sat with the question, ‘how can I be of maximum service to my community at this very moment?’ I realized that at least for right now, that doesn’t look like another episode about your circadian rhythm. It doesn’t look like another complicated protocol to add to your to do list. In the age of information overload, we now know what we “should” be doing to take care of ourselves – I’m more interested in unpacking the deeper, not-so-palatable reasons as to why we sometimes can’t or don’t. The things we think we’re alone in carrying, like shame or guilt, that prevent us from hearing our own inner wisdom and voices about what our bodies actually need separate from an IG perfect morning routine. I’m ready to show up as a fuller, wiser version of myself and speak even my ugliest truths because telling our stories is what free us from that shame. This means I also get to speak to the fullness of YOU, and the big life you’re working so hard to create by facing your deepest layers. Let’s talk about all the things we struggle with behind closed doors: how to build a real relationship with yourself after a lifetime at odds, candid chats about vices, friendship breakups, and rediscovering your inner child so that she can get you through this often magical but sometimes extremely difficult life. Come along for solos, Q&As, conversations between everyone from thought leaders to my very best friends. Starting off strong, today we’re chatting about periods of death and rebirth. Massive transitions are a part of life, but how do we best care for ourselves during a time when it feels like the world we once knew is ending? What do you do when you wake up one day and your life no longer fits – you know you need to say goodbye to the way things are, but you’re terrified of jumping when you don’t know what’s next? I'm breaking down my last couple of years and the terrifying experience of letting go, sitting in nothingness, and trusting that something new will be born. I’ll be sharing the very best wisdom I learned from the pain. Whether you're ready for a change in your career, relationships, or sense of identity, this episode is a comforting reminder that growth is necessary, nonlinear, and ultimately SO worth it. HERE'S THE JUICE Why we’re so afraid of change and how to understand that the “death” before a rebirth is necessary What to do when you know a part of your identity has expired, but you can’t quite see what’s next yet How to know when you're entering a period of restructuring and change (and the signs your life might be giving you that it's time to course-correct) Why major life pivots are essential even if our society doesn't value us during them – how to train your brain to know that discomfort and pain come before growth and birth Embracing the idea that your worth isn't dependent on your creations and productivity, but rather your innate ability to create in the first place How to navigate misalignment and have patience for ourselves when we don’t listen to our inner voice and fall off our path The power of the unknown and why jumping into it is sometimes the only way forward How to create space for rest and reflection in small ways on a day-to-day basis & why nature can be an influential teacher and source of comfort during transitions Watch the full episode on What’s The Juice YouTube Channel To support our ad-free show, shop Olivia’s line of herbalist-formulated supplements for digestion, anxiety, thyroid support, and more by visiting www.organicolivia.com. Ep 127. What does ADHD *really* look and feel like – and does it manifest differently for women and men? Is it truly a lack of attention, or an “interest based nervous system,” where you have the ability to also hyperfocus where you’re truly passionate? Dr. Laura Gouge, a naturopathic physician, dives into both her own lived experience with ADHD and expert insights on how to support ADHD symptoms both physically and emotionally. This episode is a real "put the pieces together" moment for anyone looking to understand their own sensitive nervous system to create a more balanced life. We explore a ton of juicy topics, including ADHD as an adaptation, the pain-pleasure pendulum swing, and why we create chaos in our lives to trigger brain stimulation. Calvin Scheller is an 18-year-old science extraordinaire who began studying and mastering medical literature in order to better communicate with his physicians after his own experience with autoimmune disease at the young age of 13. His courageous journey of self advocacy during a time when he felt alone and baffled by his symptoms led him to memorize, digest, integrate, and teach others about the complex mechanisms within our bodies (and how to heal through nutrition and lifestyle). He is a superb science communicator and now health coach – taking the difficulty out of reading medical studies, and putting the power of their information in our hands. Today, Calvin gives us a master class on insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, PCOS and why carbohydrates are NOT the cause of these conditions. We discuss the dietary factors that contribute to insulin resistance (and the many misconceptions you’ll find online), as well as the best ways to increase your insulin sensitivity and master your metabolic health well into old age. HERE’S THE JUICE: Why carbohydrates are not the cause of insulin resistance How excess dietary fat is more problematic for insulin resistance than excess carbs or sugar Why saturated fats can be more inflammatory within the context of insulin resistance than plant fats The true mechanism behind insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome: excess fatty acids within our cells How we can burn off the fatty acids that cause insulin resistance and why blood sugar spikes aren’t the FULL issue, they’re more of an effect Why insulin resistance begins and how it’s actually an adaptation How inflammation also drives insulin resistance and other holistic factors you need to take into account like chronic gut infections, to mineral deficiencies like zinc, to stress, processed foods, sleep issues and more Why insulin resistance within the ovaries is specifically tied to PCOS and exactly how to target this with diet and lifestyle Watch the full episode on What’s The Juice YouTube Channel To shop our new PCOS protocol “The Cysters Kit” at 15% off, click HERE To support our ad-free show, shop Olivia’s line of herbalist-formulated supplements for digestion, anxiety, thyroid support, and more by visiting www.organicolivia.com. We’re kicking things off with an impromptu hello and life update from Olivia — then diving into the nitty gritty with Courtney Swan, a real food activist who is on a mission to fix our broken food system. Today she’s answering the question: are GMOs safe for consumption? There are five genetically modified crops on the market that have become so abundant that they’re used in almost all packaged foods… knowing what they are and where they’re found is the key to learning how to eat your way around corruption in our food supply. What if you’ve never actually experienced your true personality? The truth is, when our hormones are out of whack, we’re totally different people. While there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution, there are some key ways that we can all reduce inflammation and regulate our hormones, according to Dr. Corina Dunlap, a naturopathic women’s health and hormone specialist. In this episode, she gets juicy about the link between cortisol and ovulation (hint: we’re all too stressed out) and dives deep into the importance of relationships – with others, ourselves and mother nature. HERE’S THE JUICE: What does it feel like when we’re safe in our bodies? This is what balanced hormones feel like! How inflammation can affect our mood, and make it hard to understand what our baseline or that “safe” feeling should feel like. What the “goldilocks hormones” are – we don’t want too little or too much of them! What the first line of action should be in addressing ovulation issues Why unplugging your wifi at night could be the best trick to getting better sleep How chronic stress doesn’t allow your body to feel safe enough to digest properly or ovulate The best practices that you can adopt day-to-day to help with inflammation. Clear questions you can ask yourself, like: is this me, or is this my hormones? Have you ever wondered if it’s possible to reverse the damage we have done to our earth? Have you been told that going vegan is the only way to do so? When Taylor Collins bought 900 acres of factory-farmed land, it was completely barren, desolate, and degraded. But by working with nature’s cycles and reintroducing animals in order to loosen the soil and give back to the land, Taylor transformed his farm into a thriving ecosystem that supports higher crop yields, healthier soil and more nutritious food. In this episode, we talk about the power of connection, the “green narrative,” and what we as consumers can do to help our earth today. The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is now – let’s dive in! HERE’S THE JUICE: How factory farming works against nature’s principles to yield a higher output yet lower nutritional value Taylor’s belief that humans aren’t inherently destructive but our values of “more more more” absolutely are Why monocropping as a “solution” to global food insecurity is promoting a broken system How regenerative farming mimics the cycles of nature and creates community Why we don’t need to stop eating meat but we need to rethink how we do it The idea that healthy soil is the KEY to nutrient-rich foods and why topsoil is so critical Why “Impossible” Meat isn’t actually a better or more sustainable solution than regeneratively farmed meat Why our farmers are in crisis – both personally and financially How to vote with our dollars when it comes to food and support the growing community of regenerative farmers Watch the full episode on What’s The Juice YouTube Channel To support our ad-free show, shop Olivia’s line of herbalist-formulated supplements for digestion, anxiety, thyroid support, and more by visiting www.organicolivia.com. What if the key to weight loss isn’t actually about what’s on our plates? Today I’m chatting with a true gem of a human being as well as a kick-ass nutritionist. Nicki Parlitsis helps her clients achieve their goals but also understand WHY they might be harming themselves with food through binging or restricted diets. In this episode she unpacks how binging is often a deeper reflection on our lives, showing us exactly what we need to focus on within ourselves to ultimately heal our relationship with food. We also discuss why binging is both an emotional AND physical response for many of us and how we can tune into the signs our bodies are giving us before we start to go down toxic paths. HERE’S THE JUICE: The difference between physical and emotional binge eating Why women tend to fear gaining muscle and what it actually means to “tone” your body The importance of training your brain in steps and why intuitive eating is a graduate level course in dietetics What an all-or-nothing mindset with food looks like and how it contributes to binge eating The fact that something as simple as thinking about meals as events can help retrain your brain to get out of a snacking mindset and into a space of intentional eating Nicki’s favorite client hack of meal prepping like a chef Why binge eating is not the problem and how to get to the root of what’s happening in your body Why listening to your hunger cues is the first step to take even if it means abandoning your diet Watch the full episode on What’s The Juice YouTube Channel To support our ad-free show, shop Olivia’s line of herbalist-formulated supplements for digestion, anxiety, thyroid support, and more by visiting www.organicolivia.com. When was the last time you did a radical 180 about a long held belief? Today I’m sitting down with a brilliant dentist who was once picketing in the streets for water fluoridation — yet was courageous enough to change her mind and speak out once she dug into the data once and for all. Meet Dr. Staci Whitman, a board-certified dentist who takes a whole-body, holistic and functional approach to oral health. In this episode, Staci unpacks the surprising factors that contribute to the decline of our oral health including mouth breathing, hormones, and gut dysbiosis. She explains why these underlying root causes are ignored by conventional dentistry and exactly what we need to be asking about and advocating for at our dentist appointments. HERE’S THE JUICE: Functional vs. conventional dentistry and the importance of both Why dental professionals haven't introduced oral microbiome testing as a baseline for all patients How hormone imbalance is leading to an increase in cavities in women and the signs to look for in prevention What LPS is and how it contributes to pathogenic bacteria overgrowth The fact that we aren’t taught about healthy bacteria and are encouraged to wipe out all our bacteria with products like Listerine Why dentists are sometimes the first people to diagnose Crohn's disease and how your oral health can inform gut health What a cavity is and how it forms When we may be able to repair cavities without requiring fillings Why mouth breathing is so detrimental to our oral health and how to retrain yourself into healthy breathing habits Resources and recommendations for the products and services we should be talking to our dentist about to be proactive about our oral health Watch the full episode on What’s The Juice YouTube Channel To support our ad-free show, shop Olivia’s line of herbalist-formulated supplements for digestion, anxiety, thyroid support, and more by visiting www.organicolivia.com. Statistically, there are 15 core people in our lives who will show up when sh$# hits the fan – our mother’s funeral, a cancer diagnosis – they’re on the next plane. What if instead of filling our schedules working towards buying more things, we spent time nurturing the relationships that are truly all we have? In a modern day loneliness epidemic, lack of connection is becoming a disease, but our generation can turn it around. Sah D’Simone is here to say that even though relationships are hard, families are messy, and conflict is scary, this is the only path back to love and longevity. Sah is a spiritual leader, hospital chaplain who supports those at the end of life, and international best-selling author of Spiritually We. In this episode, he breaks down how to increase our capacity so that we can hold space for our people and right our relationships. HERE’S THE JUICE: Why human connection is a basic biological need (and how we’ve gotten so far away) Why pop psychology is doing us a disservice by teaching us to cut off relationships with conflict instead of learning to face it The difference between how easy it is to be spiritual alone in meditation vs. at the family dinner table when triggers come up How to nurture true connection over complain culture and trauma-bonding relationships Why your closest relationships are often the most triggering How to live with integrity and what a lack of integrity looks like in your closest bonds Why “conflict is your lovers” how to resolve conflict in a healthy way Why time away from your parents may be necessary to grow and heal, but the goal is to always bring it back around Why intellectualizing your feelings and making meaning keeps you from feeling your feelings How to support someone in grief and the magnitude of holding space for loss Watch the full episode on What’s The Juice YouTube Channel To support our ad-free show, shop Olivia’s line of herbalist-formulated supplements for digestion, anxiety, thyroid support, and more by visiting www.organicolivia.com. Ep 116. What does “good nutrition” actually mean – and why have we built a BILLION dollar industry that only makes us more confused about how to feed ourselves? Why is it that one day the internet is telling you to be a raw vegan, and 5 years later carnivore is suddenly a panacea? Shyla Cadogan is a registered dietitian focused on making nutrition simple again. Shyla explores the extensive impact that processed foods have on our bodies, while at the same time not putting perfection, whole foods or ‘superfoods’ on a pedestal. She brings some much needed nuance (and humor) to the question: what the heck should I eat and who should I listen to? HERE’S THE JUICE: Shyla’s transition from intense vegan diets to an unattached, simple way of fueling The importance of finding the middle ground with nutrition rather than opting into extremes Why nutrition professionals have a duty to keep things professional rather than trying to be cutting edge or go viral How the concept of intuitive eating has gotten warped and why most of us are practicing it all wrong and feeling bad about it How you can be anti-diet-culture and still not eat a lot of processed foods Why Shyla says “a true relationship with food is having no relationship with it at all” The importance of not shaming people for being imperfect in their health decisions and educating in a considerate manner The history of “superfoods” and why the term is a bit of a scam The distrust that the public currently has in dietitians (ie. thinking they’re paid by big pharma!) How processed foods were originally created for war times and food corporations have used that opportunity to exploit us How cultural foods play a role in healthy eating Watch the full episode on What’s The Juice YouTube Channel To support our ad-free show, shop Olivia’s line of herbalist-formulated supplements for digestion, anxiety, thyroid support, and more by visiting www.organicolivia.com. Are you struggling with chronic, unexplained symptoms that no treatment seems to alleviate (and actually makes worse)? Do you feel like your body reacts abnormally to stress or changes in your environment with ‘flares’ of symptoms that come in cycles? Understanding histamine intolerance, also called MCAS or Mast Cell Activation Syndrome may help guide you in the right direction. Michelle Shapiro is a functional dietitian who has helped over 1000+ clients reverse their anxiety and heal long-standing gut and immune issues. In this episode, Michelle unpacks what it means to live in a highly sensitive body (spoiler, she lives in one!) and shares hopeful solutions for those of us who struggle with largely ignored autonomic disorders such as MCAS, POTS and hypermobility. Join the Highly Sensitive Body (HSB) Hub HERE’S THE JUICE: Michelle’s own story of being sick with a mysterious cluster of symptoms after COVID and mold exposure (and how she healed) What MCAS is, the symptoms caused by histamine intolerance and why it’s SO hard to get diagnosed The connection between long COVID and MCAS that’s not talked about Why MCAS is really a physical “allergy to stress” and nervous system disorder that pushes the immune system into overdrive How seemingly healthy treatment plans actually make things worse in people with histamine issues What it might mean if you get dizzy easily, have trouble concentrating or experience a racing heart Why hypermobility, POTS and MCAS often go together How histamine intolerance magnifies anxiety, depression, ADHD and PMDD in women Michelle’s loving approach to healing histamine issues and supporting your body gently The exact foods to avoid if you have histamine intolerance and how to reduce flares Her favorite supplements and herbs that can lower histamine levels How to strength train in a way that doesn’t cause more harm Why we can’t completely discount pharmaceutical tools like antihistamines when initially healing The next steps to take if you think you may have a highly sensitive body Watch the full episode on What’s The Juice YouTube Channel To support our ad-free show, shop Olivia’s line of herbalist-formulated supplements for digestion, anxiety, thyroid support, and more by visiting www.organicolivia.com. Ep 113. Have you ever wanted to experience spiritual growth from psychedelics but don’t actually want to trip? Are you stuck at a crossroads in life and not sure which path you’re meant to take? Meet the woman who connects you with specific rituals you can do in nature to find your deepest answers without ever having to take Ayahuasca. Katherine Hargreaves is a practitioner of West African divination, an ancient method of translation that helps people tap into information, messages, and ancestors on the other side by reconnecting us with the elements of nature. As you complete the rituals you're assigned (whether that’s throwing milk and honey into the ocean with a prayer, or screaming your anger into a hole in the woods to give it back to the earth), you quiet your mind, clear your physical channel, and are able to hear the guidance of your soul, your ancestors, and the spirits of the earth. HERE’S THE JUICE: - The wild ritual that Olivia did on a mountainside to help her get clarity on her career - How rituals prepare us to receive messages and transformation in the years after - Chronological vs deep time and why we can’t expect things to happen on our timelines - How to incorporate elements into rituals for specific purposes (like ocean water, honey, dirt, etc.) - How to complete a honey ritual if you’re looking for a new place to live - How Katharine got initiated into the closed practice of West African shamanic tradition - The idea that nature can be JUST as powerful as psychedelics - Exactly how to start noticing nature speaking to you - Easy, tangible ways to work with your ancestors, like creating an altar - The importance of asking for guidance out loud – to nature and your ancestors - How to know if divination work is right for you in this moment Watch the full episode on What’s The Juice YouTube Channel To support our ad-free show, shop Olivia’s line of herbalist-formulated supplements.
