What's God Got To Do With It?: "How do I know if I’m hearing God’s voice or just my own thoughts?"

Have you ever wondered if the voice in your head is God speaking—or just your own thoughts, emotions, or fears? If so, you’re not alone. In this episode of Ask The God Pod, Leanne tackles a powerful listener question: How do I know if I’m really hearing God? She breaks down why this can be so tricky, how to discern between God’s voice and our own internal noise, and the key steps to confidently recognizing His guidance. You’ll learn how to test what you’re hearing against Scripture, recognize the difference between divine peace and anxious urgency, and why waiting in prayer can bring clarity. Plus, Leanne shares practical steps—like seeking wise counsel and paying attention to what draws you closer to God—so you can trust His leading with confidence. If you’ve ever second-guessed yourself when making a decision, this episode will help you navigate those moments with faith, wisdom, and a whole lot of grace. Write Your Story: How to Know If Your Book Is Worth Writing

If you’ve ever considered writing a book, you’ve also probably asked yourself this common question: is my idea any good?  Is the story or topic I want to write about interesting to anyone other than me?  There are many ways to answer this question and unfortunately, how you answer might determine whether or not you write your book. Imagine if the author of your favorite book had decided, before ever writing, that their book idea was “no good”.   In today’s episode, I’ll teach you how to answer this question for yourself and talk about the common pitfalls aspiring writers fall into.  Hopefully I inspire you to give your book idea some space to develop into what it was meant to be.  (PS) As I mention in the episode, I’m bringing back my signature course A Book in Six Months as a self-paced workshop and offering a generous discount for loyal listeners starting Friday November 28th. I will post the link to purchase as soon as it's ready.    Host: Ally Fallon // @allyfallon // allisonfallon.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Amy and Kat answer a listener’s question about what “have the day you need to have” actually means…such a good question considering they end every single episode with that phrase! When You’re Feeling Judged, Consider the Source (Also: Labia Changes No One Talks About)

This episode is a roller coaster in the best way. Kat breaks down a study revealing how Americans actually measure success (spoiler: it’s not fame or money), and Amy explains why Gen Z is “rawdogging boredom” to boost creativity. They also get into China’s new rule requiring influencers to have real credentials, the timeless wisdom of the top regrets of the dying, and two listener calls: one about saying “oh” vs. zero, and one offering a very honest, potentially helpful PSA about labia changes no one talks about. Write Your Story: Why Story Outweighs Advice Every Single Time

We hesitate to tell our stories for a thousand reasons. It’s vulnerable, for starters, and we hate the feeling of giving others power over us.  We decide ahead of time that our story isn’t that interesting, that nobody else would care besides us, and that our situation is 100% unique to our experience.  But what if wisdom is buried inside of your personal story?  What if keeping your story secret is hiding that wisdom, even from you? Today’s episode explores this topic and encourages you to take a single step to unpack the miracle that is your personal story. Soul Sessions: Your Warning on Addiction and Delusion (Saturn and Neptune Retrograde in Pisces)

Saturn and Neptune are Retrograde in Pisces, bringing a period of deep introspection—and potential emotional pitfalls. The energy feels foggy, exhaustive, and heavy, putting our defenses to the test. This astrological transit can stir up old fears and delusions, making past, unhealthy coping mechanisms sound like logical solutions. Be aware: the temptation toward escapism will be high, whether through old addictions like drugs, alcohol, and food, or behaviors like doomscrolling, overeating, or toxic relationships. This is a cautionary time. Your nervous system may feel frayed and exhausted, and your internal "check engine light" is on. It's a real danger that you might romanticize destructive behaviors. In this episode, we arm you with spiritual and practical defenses: Double Down on Recovery: It's time to double down on asking for help and proactively activating your support systems. Tap Into Community: We discuss why friendships and community are your most vital resources against the loud, delusional inner voice. The Antidote to Self-Serving: Learn how being of service to others is the antidote to feeling selfish and stuck—a powerful way to get out of your own head. Facing the Mental Health Storm: We address why voices of depression, anxiety, and worthlessness may get louder now and remind you that you are not alone. Spiritual Defenses: Practical ways to talk to your higher self and ask for support from your guides and spiritual troops. Don't let old delusions lead you into a darker place. This transit is an incredible evolutionary journey, but you must be mindful. Listen now to learn how to proactively safeguard your sobriety, mental clarity, and spiritual well-being. What is one specific recovery tool or practice you're committed to using more in the coming months? Kat’s Creating Joy & Amy’s Revisiting Old Wounds

Amy and Kat are both feeling merry this week!! Kat because she just had the staycation of her dreams and she’s already decorated for Christmas (she’s in a season of creating as much joy as possible)! And Amy’s feeling merry because, well, it’s the most wonderful time of the year! However, she had some anxiety pop up around something she thought she’d worked through, so she shares about those feelings as well. Kat reminds her that healing isn’t about being “done” with a feeling…it’s about knowing how to move through it now. When familiar feelings show up again, it doesn’t mean you’re back at the beginning. It’s just a new moment to practice showing up differently…with more awareness, more tools, and more kindness for yourself. Also in this episode: a cozy stovetop simmer recipe (see below!), the move to make out of a second story should there be a fire (random, but helpful), and a thoughtful email from new listener Dave, who shares how burnout shifted his relationship with work and a reminder to actually communicate needs in a relationship…men aren’t mind readers. Smells Like Christmas: A Cozy Simmer Pot Recipe 1 large orange, sliced 3–4 cinnamon sticks 1 cup fresh cranberries 1 tablespoon whole cloves 2–3 sprigs of fresh rosemary (or a handful of pine needles if you’re feeling extra festive) Water to fill the pot   How To: Combine everything in a medium pot. Fill with water until ingredients are just covered (leave about an inch from the top). Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Reduce to low and let it quietly bubble away (uncovered) as long as you’d like. Keep an eye on it and add more water as needed so it doesn’t dry out. Pro tip…you can reuse the same pot a few times! Just pop it in the fridge overnight and add fresh water before reheating.   This little ritual makes your whole house smell like orange, cinnamon, and nostalgia. It’s one of those small, sensory things that makes the holidays feel like the holidays. Get some Feeling Things merch by clicking HERE! What's God Got To Do With It?: "How Do I Handle Relationships That Pull Me Away from My Faith?"

What do you do when the people in your life don’t share your faith—or worse, when they actively pull you away from it? A listener sent in this tough but common question, and today, we’re diving deep into how to navigate relationships while staying strong in your walk with God. Maybe it’s friends who don’t respect your beliefs, family members who challenge your faith, or even a romantic relationship that’s making you feel distant from God. What's God Got To Do With It?: "Why Do I Keep Repeating the Same Mistakes, Even When I Pray for Change?"

You pray for change, you genuinely want to do better, and yet… you find yourself stuck in the same old habits. Sound familiar? In today’s episode, we answer a listener’s question about why breaking free from repetitive struggles feels so hard—even when we’re actively seeking God’s help. Whether it’s self-sabotage, toxic relationships, negative self-talk, or cycles of fear and doubt, we’ll unpack the three key reasons why we keep repeating patterns: how our brains crave familiarity, how subconscious beliefs shape our actions, and how spiritual battles keep us stuck. But here’s the truth: You are not broken. You are not beyond hope. And this cycle doesn’t have to define you. We’ll dive into how Romans 12:2 shows us that real transformation happens through the renewing of our minds, how neuroscience confirms that change is possible, and how the Holy Spirit empowers us beyond sheer willpower. If you’re tired of feeling stuck and want real, lasting change, this episode will give you the tools—and the encouragement—to step into true freedom. Write Your Story: How Radical Honesty Makes You Unstoppable

When someone asks, “how are you doing?” Do you smile and say “I’m fine”?  Or do you tell the truth?  You might have a thousand reasons for holding back your truth in the face of a relatively benign question like “how are you doing?” — some of which may even be justified. But I suppose a better question is: do you know what is true for you?  Are you in touch with your own truth?  Are you able to share it with at least one trusted person?  And have you considered the power and possibility of sharing your truth more broadly?  This is what I’m exploring in today's episode. No matter how impossible it might seem to tell the truth — no matter who you think it might hurt or what you worry would unravel, the old maxim is right: only really the truth can set you free.  Watch the Martha Beck + Tim Ferris conversation that was mentioned HERE! Soul Sessions: Mercury Retrograde Road Map: Your Psychic Upgrade & Mental Detox

Rather than bracing for Mercury Retrograde, we invite you to embrace this period (November 9th-29th) as a spiritual refinement process—a chance to clear static from your frequency and let old, outdated narratives dissolve. With three water signs in retrograde (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces), the universe is gifting us a profound psycho-spiritual cleanse. Here’s what we cover: The Upgrade Invitation: Why you must engage with the Mercury Retrograde for a deep mental and cognitive rewire, rather than recycling confusion. Sagittarius Detox: From Nov 9th, Mercury in Sag demands a mental expansion and belief detox. What limiting stories have been running the show unconsciously? (Be mindful of spiritual bypassing or excessive optimism!) Scorpio Confrontation: When Mercury slides back into Scorpio on Nov 18th, the game changes. We move from philosophical to embodiment. This is where the rubber meets the road—truth will come to light, and you can't avoid the red flags. Psychic Purge: All three water signs are in retrograde, purifying and detoxing our psyche. We are being cleansed of pain and confrontation that doesn't need to quantum leap with us into 2026. Deep Truth Telling: Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio penetrates the underworld of your psyche, exposing what has been hidden. This is the time to integrate your shadows and excavate old junk that has been buried. Power Dates: A roadmap of crucial days for action, clarity, and receiving luck: Nov 12th (watch your mouth), Nov 17th (lucky day), Nov 20th (psychic day), Nov 22nd (Master Number day), and celebration on Nov 30th. This November is a pressure cooker—focus internally, clear the static, and trust that your soul is catching up to the mental and psychic upgrade you are receiving.   Additional Resources:  November Astrology (Part 1): Full Moon inTaurus, Emotional Riptides, & Karmic Truth November Astrology (Part 2): Venus in Scorpio, Uranus Retrograde, & Jupiter in Cancer  How to Metabolize Your Energy for Strong Energetic Boundaries   Host: Amanda Rieger Green YouTube: @soul_pathology⁩   Instagram: @soulpathology  Website: SoulPathology.com  Email: [email protected] omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

What's God Got To Do With It?: "Why Do I Believe in God but Still Struggle With Doubt?"

Have you ever found yourself thinking, I believe in God, but why do I still have doubts? If so, you’re not alone! In this episode, we tackle a powerful listener question about navigating faith when uncertainty creeps in. We’ll explore why doubt is a normal part of the faith journey, what the Bible actually says about questioning God, and how even some of the strongest believers—like John the Baptist and Thomas—had their moments of uncertainty. But here’s the good news: Doubt doesn’t mean you’re failing in your faith. It’s an opportunity to grow deeper. We’ll also break down the neuroscience behind why our brains crave certainty and how we can rewire our thought patterns to align with God’s truth. If you’ve ever felt like you’re wrestling with faith and doubt at the same time, this episode will remind you that God isn’t afraid of your questions—and He’s not going anywhere. Write Your Story: What Yoga Taught Me About Getting What You Want

Do you believe there’s more to life than what you can see?  If so, how does this affect the way you move through the world?  Does it impact how you make decisions; how you deal with disappointment; how you make meaning from your story?  What about not getting what you want?  In today’s episode, I share a message that came to me through my yoga practice and talk about how it brought peace to a situation where I’m not getting what I want.  If there’s more to life than what we see, then maybe “what we want” is about much more than getting what we want. Sounds simple on the surface but tell that to yourself when you want something and you’re not getting it.  Whatever it is that you want but can’t have right this minute, I hope this episode brings you some peace. Write Your Story: What You Want Is Sacred (and Meaningless)

My five year old daughter recently asked me why sometimes we ask God for things and she doesn’t give them to us (I secretly love that she refers to God as female, even though we’ve never gendered God in our house).  As I processed the answer to her question — and thought about all the things I’ve wanted in my life but never gotten — I recorded this episode.  This episode is an in-real-time, thinking-out-loud kind of an episode. More of a “questions” kind of episode than an “answers” kind of episode.  But maybe, as I talk out loud to myself about what it means to want something and not have it, you’ll hear something that resonates with you that you can take with you on your own journey of wanting and not having.  What do you want that you don’t (yet) have?  The answer to that question might be a powerful invitation on a journey that will change your life forever. What's God Got To Do With It?: How This Female Pastor Ditched The Shame & Finally Addressed Her Secret "Demons"

Deedee has been a pastor for decades, preaching faith, healing, and God’s love to her congregation. But behind closed doors, she was secretly struggling with a battle that didn’t have anything to do with her sermons, but everything to do with food. For decades, food felt like her hidden demon—something she couldn’t conquer no matter how much she prayed or tried to “willpower” her way through. Despite her deep-rooted faith and dedication to serving others, food seemed to have a stronghold on her life, leaving her feeling ashamed, defeated, and disconnected. Even though she was pouring herself out for everyone around her, she often felt empty and isolated—especially when it came to her own health and relationship with food. But everything changed when Deedee made the brave choice to invite God into this part of her life, too. She realized that her struggles with food were deeply intertwined with her relationship with God. As you’ll hear in this powerful episode, healing her relationship with food not only freed her from decades of shame and pain—it also allowed her to experience a closeness with God that she’d been seeking for so long. Her faith deepened, her heart softened, and she became a more powerful vessel for God’s love—both for herself and for those she leads. Today, Deedee is not only free from food’s grip—she’s living a life filled with peace, joy, and a renewed sense of purpose. If you’ve ever felt like your struggles are too insignificant or too shameful to bring to God, Deedee’s story is proof that no area of your life is too small—or too big—for God’s love and grace. Not My Chili, Not Gonna Stir It: Staying Out of Other People’s Drama

The Feeling of the Day is forgetful, thanks to Kat leaving her wedding ring at home, which leads to a chat about what happens when she forgets it in public and somehow snowballs into a conversation about whether you’d say something if you saw a stranger having an affair. Speaking of rings, Amy shares that Kat’s been sending her engagement ring newsletters, even though there’s no engagement news to report. Amy also tells the story of finding an app called Think Dirty on her boyfriend’s phone (spoiler: it’s not what it sounds like), and they also unpack the top symptoms of “Millennial Syndrome.” Plus, Kat shares a hilarious childhood story involving a teacher, a soybean, and mild trauma.  Sign up for the Feeling Things newsletter HERE! Soul Sessions: How to Metabolize Energy for Strong Energetic Boundaries

Are you tired of feeling constantly drained and overwhelmed by other people's stuff? What if spiritual growth didn't have to be a slow, laborious process of "digesting" heavy emotions and energy? Most people are unconsciously absorbing, processing, and "digesting" every emotion, thought, and energetic push-and-pull they encounter—which leaves them perpetually depleted. In this episode, we're introducing a powerful, high-frequency approach: Metabolizing Energy. Think of your soul as a sophisticated processor. Instead of slow spiritual digestion (which takes time and work to move through your body), metabolizing is the chemical process that quickly turns matter (dense, heavy feelings like fear and doubt) into vitality, new growth, and eliminates the waste simultaneously. In this episode, you'll learn: The Difference: Why "digesting" energy keeps you stuck in a cycle of heavy processing, and how metabolizing speeds up your spiritual evolution. Warp Speed Processing: How to ask your soul to metabolize resistance and challenges, leading to an immediate lightening and mental/emotional regeneration. Strengthening Your Aura: How this practice minimizes the absorption of other people's energy, clarifies your point of attraction, and fortifies your energetic boundaries. Sovereign Divinity: Moving from codependent energetic dynamics to a state of sovereign divinity where you honor the exchange of energy, transmute it, and send it back cleansed. Doing Less, Gaining More: Metabolizing leads to less depletion, higher lifeforce energy, increased clarity, and more synchronistic opportunities appearing as if by magic. It's time to stop running on the fumes of everyone else's energy and become an intelligent processor of your own field.   What are you passionate about right now? What fuels you? What do you see with metabolizing energy and energetic boundaries in your life? Let us know what's working (or not working) for you! Write Your Story: Learning the leverage of “I Don’t Know” (Part 1)

Human beings don’t deal well with uncertainty, which is why a mystery draws you in and why a cliffhanger on a TV show can keep you watching well past your bedtime.  Your brain is wired for answers.  Yet life is full of uncertainty. So how do we manage this tension?  When a story is unfolding and you wonder, “how will this end?” Or when the big questions of life go unanswered and you lie awake wondering, Who is God? What am I here for? What does all of this mean?  How do we handle not knowing?  In today’s episode, I want to share a practice I’ve been using that is helping me live with the inevitable uncertainty of life.  But I’m not just living with it. I’m using it as leverage to unfold into the fullness of myself.  Check out the episode and I’d love to hear what you think. In this episode of What’s God Got To Do With It?, we’re tackling a topic that hits closer to home than most of us realize: our relationship with food—and why God cares about it. What's God Got To Do With It?: The Faith-Brain Connection

Next Friday, October 10th is World Mental Health Day, and that’s why it's the perfect time to talk about the faith-brain connection, and how it has EVERYTHING to do with your own mental and emotional health. In this next episode of The God Pod, Leanne takes you on a journey to explore the profound interplay between faith, self-image, and neuroscience. Leanne breaks down (in simple science terms) how just influencing ONE specific part of the brain (the Anterior Cingulate Cortex (ACC), or the "social brain" as she calls it) can change the game for you -- simply by knowing about it -- as just this ONE part of the brain influences everything from self-perception and emotional pain to coping mechanisms and physical pain. Inviting God into the conversation right away, she shares how this region of the brain drives our need for acceptance and connection while also playing a big role in your coping mechanisms or habits which you feel are "out of control". And it's not just theory either, as she shares evidence-based scientific studies that show how faith has been proven to drastically impact everything from self-esteem and addiction recovery...to the alleviation of physical pain, and how THIS can hold the keys to your own mental and emotional health. Ultimately, she's simply inviting you to 'try on' this idea that faith can be a catalyst for healing, strength, and transformation in the realm of mental and emotional well-being. What's God Got To Do With It?: How God Helped Me Heal My Fears About Being Alone the Rest of My Life

Do you have beliefs that are holding you back that (no matter what you try), they continue to have a stronghold on you? In this week's episode of the God Pod, Leanne Ellington shares her personal journey of transforming beliefs through the unique intersection of where "faith meets science"...and where "science meets faith", as we start to unravel how faith and science intersect in transforming your deepest-held beliefs about yourself. She shares a unique process to transform your own beliefs, but also takes you on a deeply introspective voyage, and candidly discusses her transition from attempting to change her beliefs purely through scientific and emotional tools...to inviting God into the conversation. She shares her initial struggles with self-worth and the fear of "being alone the rest of her life", and details how she crafted new beliefs that resonated with her core self and how she "backed them up" with carefully-chosen scripture. Write Your Story: The Wisdom of the Middle

When you’re in the middle of your story and it appears that no resolution is on the horizon, it’s easy to assume that you must be doing something wrong.  Maybe if you were stronger, wiser, or more "positive" you would be able to find a solution and bring your story to resolution.  But what if the point of the story is not to resolve the story? What if the unresolved, chaotic, painful middle of a story is exactly where you belong?  In today’s episode I’ll talk about our very human impulse to relieve the pain and pressure of our stories, to find resolution, and I’ll also explore what happens when we allow the middle of the story to be exactly what it is: confusing, unsettling, upsetting and painful.  Are you in the middle of a story? What would it be like to soften into the middle and let it change you?  Book mentioned: When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chodron Host: Ally Fallon // @allyfallon // allisonfallon.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
