Amy and Kat are both feeling merry this week!! Kat because she just had the staycation of her dreams and she’s already decorated for Christmas (she’s in a season of creating as much joy as possible)! And Amy’s feeling merry because, well, it’s the most wonderful time of the year! However, she had some anxiety pop up around something she thought she’d worked through, so she shares about those feelings as well. Kat reminds her that healing isn’t about being “done” with a feeling…it’s about knowing how to move through it now. When familiar feelings show up again, it doesn’t mean you’re back at the beginning. It’s just a new moment to practice showing up differently…with more awareness, more tools, and more kindness for yourself.
Also in this episode: a cozy stovetop simmer recipe (see below!), the move to make out of a second story should there be a fire (random, but helpful), and a thoughtful email from new listener Dave, who shares how burnout shifted his relationship with work and a reminder to actually communicate needs in a relationship…men aren’t mind readers.
Smells Like Christmas: A Cozy Simmer Pot Recipe
1 large orange, sliced
3–4 cinnamon sticks
1 cup fresh cranberries
1 tablespoon whole cloves
2–3 sprigs of fresh rosemary (or a handful of pine needles if you’re feeling extra festive)
Water to fill the pot
How To:
Combine everything in a medium pot.
Fill with water until ingredients are just covered (leave about an inch from the top).
Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
Reduce to low and let it quietly bubble away (uncovered) as long as you’d like.
Keep an eye on it and add more water as needed so it doesn’t dry out.
Pro tip…you can reuse the same pot a few times! Just pop it in the fridge overnight and add fresh water before reheating.
This little ritual makes your whole house smell like orange, cinnamon, and nostalgia. It’s one of those small, sensory things that makes the holidays feel like the holidays.

| 1:02.3 | Yeah. I also have a little bit of anxiety, but not about this topic at all. It's totally, |
| 1:08.3 | totally separate, but it was like old feelings that came up, but we can get to that later because I don't want to kill the merry and joyful vibe, because I'm with you. I watched my first Christmas movie of the season. What was it? It was on Netflix. It was an old one. It's not even new. So it was called the Christmas contract. Wait, what was that one about? A contract with she took a boy to her hometown because her ex-boyfriend was bringing a girl and she didn't want to show up alone. So she took her best friend's brother and they had a contract to do it. Did they fall in love? You have to watch you find out. I think I've seen that, but you know, they all run together. It would be really funny if you're like, I watched, shoot, what? What's the one you were in? Oh, holiday harmony. I watched holiday harmony. Yeah. I was like, oh, you watch your Christmas movie? No, but I did wonder, should my boyfriend see that scene? I don't know. I want him to watch the whole movie because I think the whole movie is cute and adorable and awesome. And he does love Christmas movies because he started watching him with his daughter. I think she really enjoyed them. She liked watching him with their mom. And then when their mom died, it's like, he's like, well, I guess I have to step in now as the Hallmark Christmas movie lover. And now it's something they love to do, which we all watched it last night, the Christmas |
| 2:19.0 | contract. We watched it. The brothers watched the daughter. Yeah. So it was a bit of a family |
| 2:25.1 | affair and it was feeling good. And like in my kitchen right now, I have my stove top, |
| 2:29.5 | smelly Christmas stuff. We need a better name. Stovetop, smelly Christmas stuff. So I want to get to that, but can I answer your question? Yeah. What was the question? Should your boyfriend watch? Oh, yeah. I already forgot. A hundred percent. I feel like the whole family should watch. If Patrick's seen it, then your boyfriend should definitely have seen the movie that you're in. Okay. Your acting debut, that's a big deal. And that was weird to be like, hey guys, so now that it's Christmas, like the first Christmas we've celebrated together, we're really close. I mean, I was with them last Christmas, but we were still new. So now that we're like all a lot closer, what do I say? Like if we're all |
| 3:09.1 | gathered around the TV and they're like, what are we going to watch tonight? And I'm like, how about the movie I'm in? You should have said, what about holiday harmony? And you say like, what it's about? And then you play it and then it's a surprise. Oh, like they don't know that I'm in it. and then my bathroom scene comes up. |
| 3:24.2 | Okay. |
