Earlier in the week we tallied the views, and you guys picked the Rosie O'Donnell and Jason Isaacs interviews as your fan favorites. Fair choice. But for today, Friday? This one's on us.We're bringing back Jim's sit-down with God from ‘The God Podcast’ ( God ). And yes, it's exactly as amazing as it sounds.God absolutely destroys Trump's Bible skills - upside-down holding, butchered scripture, those Chinese-made golden Bibles. The Almighty had opinions. He calls Truth Social "Lies Social." Laura Loomer called the Pope "woke Marxist" and God was basically like "you're welcome."Plus you get to watch our favorite veteran White House correspondent nervously ask the Creator of the Universe if cursing is allowed. And you won't want to miss what happens when Duke decides to possibly make his grand entrance...Jim's relaxing somewhere, but his best (maybe his only) theological interview is right here waiting for you.Trust us on this one. While Jim is taking some much-needed time off, our team thought this was the perfect moment to resurface one of your favorite conversations from earlier this year. Jim’s chat with Jason Isaacs struck a nerve with so many of you – and for good reason. When we first aired this interview, Jason had just wrapped his unforgettable turn as the pill-popping, spiraling dad in White Lotus, but he was here to talk about something far more serious: his film "Words of War," about murdered Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya. What started as a conversation about Hollywood quickly became one of the most honest discussions we’ve had about the state of our democracy and the threats facing press freedom.Jason didn't hold back – as a Brit who works extensively in America, he offered the kind of outside perspective we desperately need to hear. From funding cuts to public media to the self-censorship happening in newsrooms across the country, we covered it all. And yes, we also talked about why Duke University was so mad at him for wearing their t-shirt while playing a character having a complete breakdown. The response was overwhelming. You told us this interview helped you understand why protecting independent journalism isn't just about media – it's about preserving the foundations of democracy itself. In a time when it's easier to retreat into our bubbles, Jason reminded us why it's crucial to keep speaking up, keep asking questions, and keep doing something rather than nothing. That message feels even more urgent today. Friends,While Jim is taking some much-needed time off, we wanted to reshare one of our most popular segments that really struck a nerve with the MAGA media machine. You remember this one - Rosie O'Donnell joining us live from Dublin for our Lincoln Theatre town hall, delivering her trademark blend of humor and hard truths about what's happening to our democracy. It was powerful, it was authentic, and it drove Fox News absolutely bonkers. Here's what really gets us: On the day we held this town hall to give voice to federal workers who'd been unceremoniously fired and to discuss the very real threats to our democratic institutions, what did Fox News, the Daily Beacon, and the rest of the right-wing echo chamber choose to focus on? Not the massive government layoffs. Not the constitutional crisis unfolding before our eyes. Not the Trump-Musk power struggle that was tearing apart their own movement. No - they spent hours mocking Rosie's courage to speak truth from Ireland and ridiculing our town hall. They called it everything but newsworthy, all while ignoring the actual news breaking around them. It was a masterclass in distraction politics - attack the messenger when you can't handle the message.Rosie was fearless that night. She shared personal stories, asked tough questions about election integrity, and reminded us why comedy and truth-telling have always been essential weapons against authoritarianism. Her willingness to speak out, even from across the ocean, embodies the resistance spirit we need right now.The fact that they attacked this interview so viciously tells you everything you need to know about how effective it was. When you're catching flak, you know you're over the target. So, while Jim is recharging for the battles ahead, enjoy this reminder of what real courage looks like - and why independent media like ours drives them so crazy.Don't give in to the lies. Don't give in to the fear. Hold on to the truth. And hope.Bonus: Listen to the very end, and hear Jim really attempt to do that Irish accent. :) This is a public episode. On Saturday you saw the stories of millions of Americans joining the No Kings Day protests in cities and towns across America. Our 3-hour live program with Don Lemon Joy-Ann Reid and Jim Acosta broadcast live on Substack and YouTube, drew hundreds of thousands of viewers and countless comments from people who attended huge events and hundreds of smaller ones around the country. Today we want to zoom in and focus our spotlight on just one of those events. In our ongoing American Voices series, we dispatched our photojournalist colleague Bethany Swain, Swain Domain to one of those smaller events to give you an idea of what your fellow Americans believe and are saying about the role of the president, the future of American democracy, and most importantly, the history of the US Army. Today's American Voices piece focuses on Annapolis, Maryland. ###You asked, we listened. A few weeks ago we asked you if you wanted to see more coverage like this American Voices pieces that Bethany put together overnight, and you responded overwhelmingly with a big yes. If you found this coverage valuable, please LIKE this video, SUBSCRIBE to the JIM ACOSTA SHOW, and the Swain Domain here on Substack, re-stack this video for your friends, and consider supporting independent media. Here is an exclusive behind the scenes look at the Jim Acosta Show town hall that is being savagely attacked by the right wing media. See what real people, your neighbors and fellow Americans, are saying. Then ask yourself why Fox and the right wing media have spent countless hours this week trying to tear us down for holding this town hall. Why are they so worried? Is it that they don't want you to hear from the real people affected by government cuts? Do they want to silence anyone who challenges the narrative they've built up about Trump? Watch for yourself, see the truth about what is happening in Washington and then, to borrow a phrase, you decide. We highlight the diverse faces of federal workers - people who went from career federal government professionals just a few months ago to unemployment lines. Hear from a former USAID worker who was fired while on maternity leave. Shouldn't she have a voice? As part of our AMERICAN VOICES series, this piece was shot and edited by our colleague Bethany Swain at https://www.theswaindomain.com @SwainDomain , and opens with Jim hosting his Substack Live show ahead of the night's big show at the historic Lincoln Theatre on U Street in Washington, D.C. Then come with us to the green room, as Jim, Michael Fanone , and Olivia of Troye prep for the show. Special guests including Rep. Jasmine Crockett , former Capitol Hill Police Officer Harry Dunn and other January 6th police officers talk about what the night means to them. This night is about capturing and giving voice to these federal workers who took an oath to the constitution, and not to one man. These federal employees share horror stories of DOGE's random cuts, and the resulting sudden job losses, families affected by Trump's federal workforce firings, and a community coming together to fight for the America we still believe in. This is about taking a stand for democracy, the importance of not sitting on the sidelines, and as a bonus, some behind-the-scenes footage you won't see anywhere else. Make sure you watch this piece, see the town hall for yourself, see the truth, and again, you decide.Again, use your voice to tell your Senator and your member of Congress what you think. Don't sit on the sidelines, get involved, be the change. This is a public episode. Hi friends — We're trying something new at the Jim Acosta Show this Memorial Day weekend. We sent our friend, colleague, and longtime photojournalist Bethany Swain to cover the U.S. Naval Academy graduation ceremony, where J.D. Vance was speaking to graduating Midshipmen. We wanted to amplify the voices of neighbors, friends, Academy supporters, and veterans who gathered outside the stadium in Annapolis to peacefully express their concerns about current administration policies. Please take a moment to watch the video and let us know your thoughts. We'd love to hear whether you appreciate this style of reporting and if you'd like to see more community-focused coverage like this. If you enjoy what you see, we'd be grateful if you'd subscribe to Bethany's channel and help her grow alongside us here on Substack.-Matt ##From Bethany Swain, Photojournalist, Swain Domain: On the morning of the U.S. Naval Academy graduation, a peaceful protest took place just a block from the stadium. Organized and supported by nearly a dozen groups—including the Caucus of African American Leaders, Annapolis Pride, and SURJ3A—the demonstration was not aimed at the Midshipmen, but at Vice President JD Vance, who delivered the keynote address, and the broader policies of the Trump-Vance administration.Participants—including veterans, families with young children, religious groups, librarians, and local residents, told us they gathered to defend the Constitution, express concern about threats to democracy, and oppose censorship and autocratic leadership. Handheld signs and donated banned books served as visual symbols of protest. The multiracial, multigenerational coalition emphasized unity, civic responsibility, and a shared commitment to upholding the oath that every Midshipman was taking to protect the Constitution.
