In 1958, 12yr old James Herrmann, was the focus of disturbances at his family's Seaford, Long Island home. The unexplained events became known as The Seaford Poltergeist. A total of 67 separate incidents were recorded by investigators over the course of five weeks. Journalists from Newsday, Time magazine, the New York Times, and the London Evening News visited the house, along with physicists, scientists, phycologists, and at least three members of law enforcement. He stole a total of more than $350,000 in cash and securities and several times escaped from custody. He is said to have been the most hunted man in Pacific Coast history, having had a $5,000 reward for his head three times in less than a year. The newspapers in the West referred to him as the "Smiling Bandit", the "Mail Train Bandit", and the "King of the Escape Artists." Alexander Solonik was a Russian gangster, known for his reputation as a notorious hitman in the Russian criminal underworld. Charles Walton was found murdered on February 14th, 1945 in Warwickshire, England. The foremost police detective of the era, Chief Inspector Robert Fabian, led the investigation into Walton's death. The chief suspect for the murder was Alfred John Potter. On May 1st, a body was found inside a barrel at Lake Mead, just outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. The remains were found near Hemenway Harbor. Investigators believe the victim was murdered sometime in the 1970's or early 80's. Officials say the victim died from a gunshot wound. Then, as Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department continues to investigate, on May 6th, a second set of human remains were located at Callville Bay. Police believe this victim was not murdered. Nine months later, a new resident of this tiny town, Keith Reinhard, opened an antique shop at exactly the same location. On August 7, 1988, Keith closed up his shop for the day.
