The Grays Harbor Jane Doe: Unsolved Homicides, Part 6

In October of 1988, the remains of a homicide victim were found in a rural area of Grays Harbor County, just outside Elma, Washington. A dedicated detective worked her case for years—first in his role with the sheriff's office, and then as coroner. Even now, in his retirement, he’s followed the case. Despite thousands of hours of investigation, her identity remained elusive; but then, in 2018, forensic investigative genetic genealogy became a possibility, and The DNA Doe Project took on the case of the Grays Harbor Jane Doe. But her case has proved incredibly difficult, and genelaogists and investigators need your help to reconnect her to her identity, and solve her murder. Season 18 covers four unsolved homicides in four states and across three decades: all are in need of local and national attention to be resolved. The Murder of Susan Minard Lund: Unsolved Homicides, Part 5

For almost thirty years, Susan Minard Lund’s children believed she’d run away and abandoned them; after she disappeared on Christmas Eve of 1992 in Clarksville TN, a search was launched, but late the next year, her missing-persons report was closed. That’s because a woman in Alabama claimed to be Sue, and authorities accepted the claim. Her siblings and parents never believed it, though, and they were proven right. Her story, and the story of Ina Jane Doe, are the throughline of Laurah Norton’s book, LAY THEM TO REST, and Sue’s family joins us to tell a piece of the story not covered in the book: what it’s been like to deal with the aftermath of knowledge of what they learned—and what the rest of the justice they are waiting for. Season 18 covers four unsolved homicides in four states and across three decades: all are in need of local and national attention to be resolved. The Tennessee Does, Part 2: Eight Men Lost in Nashville

Season 16 of The Fall Line takes on our most in-depth John and Jane Doe coverage yet: 22 files from MNPD’s cold-case unit, all covering the metro area’s unidentified decedents. More than ever, your help is needed to spread the word about each of the cases featured this season, and if you have any information—please, contact MNPD at 615-862-7803. Episode Two covers the cases of eight John Does, many of whom are believed to have been unhoused at the times of their deaths; at least two of these unidentified decedents may be homicide victims, and that number could be higher. But all of the people whose cases are covered in this episode are lost, in that they have been disconnected from their identities, and thus their loved ones—whether they were missing in the months before their deaths, or for much longer. Update: The Disappearance of Brian Wehrle

In 2021, we worked with Amanda Rickles to cover the disappearance of her uncle, Brian Wehrle. You may remember that 39-year-old Brian Wehrle, drove through the great Atlanta Flood of 2009 to be in his hometown of Carrollton, GA for a court date—one he never made. Now, Amanda has secured new, major coverage of Brian’s case in hopes of pushing his case forward, but she needs your help, too: she’s working to fund a billboard campaign in Carrollton, GA to draw awareness to Brian’s disappearance. Thank you to Audiochuck for their willingness to bring Brian's case to their audience and help raise the profile of Amanda's campaign; this support is VITAL to help in resolving Brian's case. His family has been waiting for almost 14 years for answers and with your help and this media boost, those answers may finally come. Introducing: Morbidology - Jordyn Dumont

At 3:30PM on August 15th, 2016, a call came in to police in Bessemer City, North Carolina, that would set off a chain of events that shook the community to its very core. William Joseph McCullen, who was tasked with caring for his girlfriend’s three-year-old daughter, Jordyn Dumont, reported that she had gone missing. McCullen’s story was that he had put Jordyn down for a nap and then dozed off himself, only to wake up to an open front door and no sign of Jordyn. As detectives dug deeper into the case, it became clear that that Jordyn’s disappearance was only the tip of the iceberg… The investigation would expose a troubling pattern of neglect and abuse, raising serious questions about the role of law enforcement and social services and the devastating consequences that can occur when they fail to do their jobs.
