We continue our coverage of  the unsolved 1985 death of Catherine "Catrina" Mowrey, a 24-year-old Kansas native who'd moved to Dallas, Texas at age 18; days after she was supposed to arrive home in Kansas for a visit, her body was found miles from her apartment, wrapped in sheet, in the trunk of car. Her case classification, her cause of death, possible persons of interest—it's all a knot her niece and namesake has been striving to unravel.

Katrina Marshall has been advocating for her aunt since 2020, and we're working with her to get

Katrina Maury was a young woman who'd moved to Dallas, Texas from Lawrence, Kansas when

She was one of five siblings and the eldest of three girls in the family.

Katrina had followed her middle sister, Joanne, to Texas,

sometime after her 18th birthday, and began work at a local country club. But she returned to

Kansas often, and she stayed in close contact with her youngest sister Deborah, who was her best friend.

Katrina had endured a difficult period following a January 1984 car wreck in Missouri that left

her with serious back injuries requiring months of recovery. She'd been prescribed pain medication

during that time and used a wheelchair until the bones in her back had healed. Katrina didn't know a lot
