Summary

On May 8th, 2010, 24-year-old Darren Gray attended his child's birthday party at a Norfolk-area public park; during the celebration, he was attacked by a group of men and endured a brutal beating that ended in his murder. Close to 13 years later, his mother and siblings have more questions than answers, and though some suspects were identified—and eventually, convicted—of Darren's beating, his murderers remain at large.

On May 8, 2010, 24-year-old Darren Gray had plans to go to Lafayette Park in Norfolk, Virginia, a place a lot of folks call City Park.

It's a popular spot for all kinds of community gatherings, big and small, and not far from the Virginia Zoo.

Darren had grown up in that area. His mother and brothers and sisters and stepfather, his extended family, they made up a web of connections across Norfolk, his aunts,

school. That Saturday in May, he was on familiar turf. The Virginia Zoo, right by the park,

was a place Darren's mother, Roy Sinda Alexander, had regularly taken their family. Darren was

headed to City Park that Saturday. It was Mother's Day weekend

Darren's son, who'd recently turned one-year-old. Guests gathered at what the Virginian pilot
