Dead Famous - A New Podcast I Think You Should Listen To

As you know, in the true crime world there might be an idiot or two....ok, maybe three...but in the nine years I have been involved in podcasting I have met some really lovely people. One of these is Mark, the co-host of the Seeing Red podcast and he is someone I always find myself chatting to at the bar late into the night at any event. He is always so generous with his knowledge and insights and is such a wonderful person and great company. Mark has a brand new podcast launching today, Dead Famous. Bonus Episode: True Crime Catch Up - The Murder of John Lennon

You may have listened to the 'True Crime Round Up' this year, where me and Stuart, host of the British Murders Podcast, talked about all things true crime once a month. Well, due to the popularity of this show we now release it every Wednesday on a separate feed and it is called the 'True Crime Catch Up'. You can listen every week on the usual podcast apps or you can watch us on YouTube. The link below will take you to Spotify, Apply and YouTube and if you enjoy the show, please do follow us there so we can continue to grow the show. This week, we look at the shocking 1980 murder of John Lennon in New York which shocked the world. What followed raised uncomfortable questions that continue to surface after acts of extreme violence. In this podcast, we examine the murder and the intense focus placed on The Catcher in the Rye, the book carried by his killer, Mark David Chapman. We explore how quickly media attention shifted from the crime itself to the idea that books, films, and popular culture can influence real-world violence, and whether that connection stands up to scrutiny. The Ultimate Traitor - Inside the Mind of Robert Hendy-Freegard : Episode 477

The Ultimate Traitor explores the chilling true story of Robert Hendy-Freegard — the conman who posed as an MI5 agent and manipulated his victims through fear, loyalty and lies. A real-life game of trust and betrayal that echoes The Traitors, this episode examines how deception became a weapon — and how ordinary people were drawn into his control, with so many lives destroyed. In the end he was just a Traitor, playing a game that nobody agreed to play. Revisited - A Naval Disappearance

Today I am re-releasing an episode I recorded in 2019 about Allan Grimson, a totally depraved excuse for a man who murdered at least two Royal Navy Sailors and it is speculated, up to as many as twenty others. The reason I have re-released this episode for you today, is because as you may have heard, the police announced last week that they have ended the investigation into the disappearance of Simon Parkes in Gibraltar - a man widely thought to have been another of Grimson's victims. I don't think this story is widely enough known and so wanted to release it again as a tribute to the two men who were killed by Grimson - Nicholas Wright and Sion Jenkins - and to raise awareness in the hope that Simon's devastated family and friends can finally discover what happened to him. Under The Radar : Episode 476

The story from this week looks at a massive seizure of heroin and cocaine from a gang based in the north-west of England and rural north Wales. But what hit me is there is none of the drama we see in crime programmes on the television - it is a story of four men quietly going about their business under the radar, making money for themselves and causing untold misery in the communities where we all live. Depending on your view of the failure - or otherwise - of the so-called 'War on Drugs' then this story is either of real significance, or it doesn't really matter....
