During a conversation at The Reparations Club, I spoke to Victoria MonĂŠt about her debut childrenâs book, motherhood, and chasing her dreams. Victoria discussed the difficult moments of separation that inspired âEverywhere You Are.â From her daughter's stay in the NICU to her first day of school, Victoria realized there wasn't a market for explaining similar periods of distance to children. She drew on her incredible songwriting ability and childhood memories of living in a starlit neighborhood to write the book she and her daughter needed. The pair collaborated on this project, much like their Grammy nominated âHollywood.â Victoria explained how she ensures that her daughter feels loved despite her busy schedule. She shared their routine with us, which includes listening to calming frequencies and learning positive affirmations. Hazel has repeated these affirmations outside of Victoriaâs presence, so she is confident that these reminders are taking root. Our discussion revealed Victoria's deep commitment to fostering Hazelâs sense of independence. She hopes that by communicating the importance of traveling to chase her dreams, Hazel will be inspired to chase hers with confidence. What makes Vanessa Lee one of the most sought-after medical aesthetics practitioners is her commitment to teaching and learning about all things beauty and science. During our conversation, Vanessa details her hands-on experience learning from beauty practitioners in Korea, including standing in for a model and receiving a treatment during a demonstration. Before her foray into the world of natural beauty aesthetics, Vanessa grew up bonding with her peers over beauty and skincare. Bonding over beauty carried into her professional life as she blended art and science to help her patients meet their beauty goals, while always looking like themselves. We regularly see her seamless work on our screens and feel her impact without knowing. In 2017, Vanessa coined the phrase âfacial balancingâ and began providing her clients the now wildly popular services before the rest of the public caught up. She teaches Beauty Theory courses to other professionals to help prevent cookie-cutter treatments that donât complement all face shapes. Our discussion is a mini-Beauty Theory course because Vanessa teaches us about procedures, her practice, and global industry norms. We learn about how facial shapes can determine how our skin will age, why K-Beauty is always light years ahead of the U.S., and how she supports clients in need of therapeutic support. Before Ron Robinson became social mediaâs favorite cosmetic chemist, he had already built a varied career in beauty. In 1989, he was hired on the spot to formulate and develop products for Clinique and La Mer, under EstĂŠe Lauder. He formulated new SKUs and innovated products like Cliniqueâs Turn Around Cream, which was one of the first products to use salicylic acid as a topical treatment gel. Despite his obvious aptitude for beauty science, he was on track to become a doctor like his brothers. To his parents' dismay, he dropped out of medical school but quickly found his footing in some of the most successful beauty labs. This experience is precisely why Hailey Bieber asked him to help lead RHODE, the billion-dollar brand, to success. His experience in the lab and engaging with consumers 1-1 also informed his decision to launch Beauty STAT. Ron holds a rare position as CEO, founder, and cosmetic chemist in Beauty STAT, and heâs excited to continue innovating for a more knowledgeable consumer base. Hi beauties! It feels so good to be back from maternity leave. So much has changed since our last episode of 2024 â my daughter Jade has made her arrival and weâre all adjusting to being a family of four. When I went on maternity leave, I chose to take a 6-week break from social media so I could really soak in this chapter in our familyâs life. I learned so much in my time away from social media, and I wanted to kick off the first episode of 2025 on the six biggest benefits I experienced from being offline. After a career spent on the internet, it was amazing to see what being offline did to my sense of creativity, my ability to engage with more long-form media, and my relationship to time. Iâm excited to be back on Instagram and TikTok with some new limits, but most of all Iâm excited to be back behind the mic. In the last episode of the year, I was the Naked Beauty interviewee. Our incredibly talented producer, Mbiye Kasonga, and I sat down to reflect on the previous two years weâve spent working together. She asked me about my interest in storytelling and my experiences after a full year of working for myself and taking creative risks. It gave me a chance to talk about my early interests in audio storytelling and the inspiration I drew listening to Wendy Williams after school every day. We also talked about our professional partnership and how committing to decisiveness and rejecting perfectionism helps us get our work into the world. Of course, none of this hard work would be possible without great support, and we dove deep into how respect and support in our romantic lives make it easier to chase our dreams. Thank you so much for an incredible year of Naked Beauty, Iâm excited to welcome my baby into the world and take a break, but Iâm even more excited about the great beauty stories weâll get to tell in 2025. Tune in as we discuss:How to build and lead a strong teamWhy consistency and transparency are the most vital tools for early podcastersHow the podcast industry has changed over the past eight yearsOur predictions for the future of beauty Rate, Subscribe & Review the Podcast on Apple Join the Naked Beauty Community on IG: @nakedbeautyplanet Thanks for all the love and support.
