🎙️ Allegations Against Tim Kennedy: 📚 Book Claims Scrutinized: Tim Kennedy, former UFC fighter and U.S. Army veteran, faces allegations of embellishing his military service in his book Scars and Stripes. 🎖️ Ranger School Distinction Questioned: Kennedy claimed to be the distinguished honor graduate of his Ranger School class. However, official records indicate he struggled during the Mountain Phase and nearly faced recycling. 🔫 Combat Narratives Disputed: Kennedy's accounts of direct engagements with enemy combatants have been challenged by peers, suggesting possible exaggerations or fabrications. 🩹 Injury Claims Unverified: Kennedy described being wounded by shrapnel during a mission. However, his military records reportedly lack a Purple Heart, and fellow soldiers dispute these injury claims. 💰 Examination of Veterans' Benefits: 📰 Medicare Advantage Payments: A Wall Street Journal investigation revealed that Medicare Advantage insurers received billions from the federal government to cover veterans' healthcare costs, despite many veterans primarily using the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health system. 💸 Dual Payments Issue: Between 2018 and 2021, the government paid an estimated $44 billion to these insurers for veterans' coverage, while the VA spent $46 billion on the same group's care, leading to effectively double payments for veterans' healthcare. 🏠 Housing Allowance Concerns: The Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008, known as the Post-9/11 GI Bill, expanded educational benefits for veterans, including a housing allowance. Some argue that these benefits may be overly generous, potentially leading to inefficiencies and misuse. You can find every episode of this show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or YouTube. Round 1: Marine Demoted for Wearing Unauthorized Decorations A senior Marine, then-Sgt. Maj. Charlie Clawson, was demoted to sergeant after a court-martial found him guilty of wearing unauthorized military awards, including the Purple Heart and Combat Action Ribbon, which represent significant honors. Clawson faced nine counts under the Uniform Code of Military Justice for "unbecoming conduct" and for submitting a fake doctoral degree. His actions are notable as one of the largest active-duty "stolen valor" cases in recent history. This issue shocked military figures, as Clawson held senior roles and received undeserved respect from peers. Round 2: Controversial Campaign Attire in Japan Female campaign staff for Japanese political candidate Masafumi Tabuchi drew attention for wearing mini-skirts and fishnets while working to attract votes, stirring online debate. Many saw this as inappropriate for the political setting, while Tabuchi claimed he was unaware of the attire choice until later. The incident generated discussion on social media about professionalism in political campaigns, and whether this tactic was an appeal to specific voters or merely a misjudgment in campaign attire. Round 3: Celebrity Endorsements in the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election In the 2024 election, celebrities are split in support between candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. Harris has garnered endorsements from prominent figures like Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Oprah Winfrey, who align with her positions on social and climate issues. Trump’s support comes from influencers such as Elon Musk, Kid Rock, and Hulk Hogan, aligning with his business-focused policies and more conservative voter base. These endorsements reflect a division within the entertainment industry, with supporters using their platforms to rally voter engagement for each candidate. Round 5: Halloween vs. Christmas Decoration Dispute in Australia A neighborhood dispute arose in Queensland, Australia, where residents displaying Christmas decorations before Halloween received anonymous letters requesting they take them down to preserve Halloween’s atmosphere. One resident, Melanie Ryan, expressed frustration, noting her decorations bring joy, especially to her children. The anonymous letter argued that early Christmas decor undermines Halloween’s spirit, sparking a local debate over holiday timing and respect for festive traditions. Round 1: Ricochet Shot! During a campaign event for U.S. Senate candidate Lucas Kunce, a bullet fragment from his AR-15 ricocheted and struck a reporter, KSHB-TV’s Ryan Gamboa, in the arm. Kunce, a Democrat and former Marine, quickly administered first aid. Despite the incident, Gamboa continued reporting. The event, just two weeks before Election Day, provided some unintended publicity for Kunce as he faces a tough race against Republican Sen. Josh Hawley. Round 2: Horror in the Barracks A Fort Cavazos sergeant, Sgt. Greville Clarke, faces shocking allegations of breaking into barracks rooms and attacking female soldiers, including attempted rape, robbery, and even attempted murder. Clarke's actions have horrified the military community, and his trial is set for December. The case sheds light on alarming conditions within the barracks and the military's handling of such severe incidents. Round 3: Bad Judgment In an unusual rescue, a woman in New South Wales, Australia, got stuck between boulders for seven hours after slipping into a crevice while trying to retrieve her phone. After a lengthy, complicated rescue operation involving multiple agencies, she was safely freed with only minor injuries. However, her phone was not recovered. On this episode of Drop A Pin, we’re diving into the wildest times Mother Nature called the shots in war. First up, Napoleon thought he could just waltz into Russia in 1812 like, "Cool, we’ll wrap this up by fall." Spoiler: Russian winters had other plans, and dude lost 300,000 troops to frostbite and exile. Same thing happened to Hitler. These guys clearly don’t check the forecast. Then, good ol’ George Washington was about to get bodied by the British in Brooklyn. But a thick fog rolled in, and boom, he pulled a Houdini, sneaking all 9,000 troops across the East River without so much as a scratch. Brits woke up like, “Where’d everybody go?” Finally, during the War of 1812, the Brits were torching D.C. when a freakin’ tornado came in, put out their fires, sank some ships, and even offed a few soldiers. The Brits dipped so fast, they probably felt like the weather gods were out for them. And because we love some weather chat, we’ll finish off with a rundown on hurricanes, flying into storms, and the military’s epic struggle to stay afloat when the weather takes a turn for the insane. So buckle up for tornadoes, fog, and the occasional scoop-your-own-poop story from military history. You can find every episode of this show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or YouTube. In a situation reminiscent of the 2004 attacks on John Kerry, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, is facing Republican criticism over his military service. The Trump campaign has questioned the accuracy of Walz’s statements about his service in the Minnesota National Guard, sparking a debate that echoes the "swift boating" attacks on Kerry’s Vietnam War record. Background: The "Swift Boating" Strategy The term "swift boating" originated from the 2004 presidential campaign when an outside group, Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, questioned Kerry’s military honors, including his three Purple Hearts and a Silver Star. The strategy effectively undermined Kerry’s image as a war hero and raised doubts about his fitness to lead. Walz’s Military Service Timeline Tim Walz served 24 years in the Minnesota National Guard, achieving the rank of Command Sergeant Major. However, he retired as a Master Sergeant for benefits purposes due to not completing certain coursework. His military service included a deployment as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, and his retirement in May 2005 has been scrutinized by Republicans, who claim he retired to avoid deployment to Iraq. Walz’s campaign refutes these claims, asserting that his service record is being mischaracterized. Political Implications Democratic strategists argue that the political landscape has evolved since 2004, and such attacks may not have the same impact in today’s media environment. The Trump campaign's attempt to revive this tactic, led by adviser Chris LaCivita, who was involved in the original "swift boating" campaign, highlights the enduring nature of military service as a political issue. Key Takeaways Tim Walz’s Military Record: Central to the Republican criticism, with claims that he misrepresented his service and retired to avoid deployment. Comparison to John Kerry: The strategy mirrors the 2004 attacks on Kerry, although the effectiveness of this approach in 2024 remains uncertain. Political Landscape: Democrats believe that the changed media environment may blunt the impact of these attacks compared to 2004. #TimWalz #MilitaryRecord #SwiftBoating #JohnKerry #2024Election #TrumpCampaign #Veterans #Democrats #Republicans #PoliticalStrategy #OperationEnduringFreedom #NationalGuard You can find every episode of this show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or YouTube. Russia Strikes Children's Hospital In a tragic event, Russian missiles targeted Ukrainian cities, resulting in the deaths of at least 36 people and injuring over 149. Among the damaged buildings was the Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital in Kyiv, one of Ukraine’s largest cancer treatment centers for children. The attack destroyed several hospital units, leaving many trapped under the rubble. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, calling for an emergency UN Security Council meeting. As international outrage grows, the incident adds urgency to the upcoming NATO summit, where leaders are expected to discuss further support for Ukraine. Pay Us Back 20 Years Later Vernon Reffitt, a former Army soldier who received a $30,000 lump-sum separation benefit in 1992, is now being asked to repay the amount. This demand comes 30 years later, as the VA has started withholding his monthly disability compensation. Reffitt’s case highlights a little-known law affecting thousands of veterans, requiring the repayment of separation benefits before receiving disability payments. Advocates argue that this law blindsides veterans, depriving them of deserved benefits. Legislation has been proposed to address this issue, but many veterans, like Reffitt, are currently struggling with the financial burden. Butt Funnel in a Small Town A scandal has erupted in Waycross, Georgia, following a viral video of an after-hours party at Rodeo Mexican Restaurant. The video shows a group of partiers attempting a "margarita butt-funnel-turned-butt-luge," leading to a public outcry in the conservative town. The restaurant issued a statement and is cooperating with authorities in an investigation. Despite the backlash, many locals and online commenters find the incident humorous, though it raises questions about public behavior and privacy in small communities. The Pentagon on Friday stood by its decision to conduct a clandestine disinformation campaign in the Philippines in 2020 that aimed to sow doubt about China's COVID-19 vaccine during the height of the global pandemic -- a campaign that was first revealed in a bombshell report by Reuters. The U.S. military launched the disinformation campaign following a decision by then-Defense Secretary Mark Esper to loosen restrictions on such operations, and used phony online accounts posing as Filipinos in an effort "to discredit China's Sinovac inoculation -- payback for Beijing's efforts to blame Washington for the pandemic.”. At the time, the Philippines was struggling to vaccinate its population and had one of the worst death rates in the region. The Philippines disinformation campaign marks an unusual use of military power in a country that has often been a U.S. ally in a strategically crucial region and at a time of great public health risks. Lisa Lawrence, a Defense Department spokeswoman, did not deny Reuters' reporting on the operation, which was done under the administration of former President Donald Trump and continued for some time under the Biden administration. A US Army veteran turned foreign volunteer fighter has lost his bid to avoid extradition from Ukraine on murder and robbery charges. Craig Austin Lang, 34, will appear in a Florida court on Monday in connection with a 2018 double homicide and armed robbery. Mr Lang is said to have killed Serafin and Deana Lorenzo, and stolen from them to fund a new escapade in Venezuela. Earlier this year, a federal jury found his alleged accomplice guilty on all of the charges Mr Lang now faces. Mr Lang's extradition is the culmination of a decade-long globe-trot that saw him desert the army and join volunteer paramilitary forces against Russian separatists in Ukraine and al-Shabab terrorists in East Africa. Three weeks after U.S. troops were told they could face disciplinary action if their official .mil email addresses were found among those hacked from the adultery website Ashley Madison, the services appear ready to drop the affair. So far there are no reports of soldiers, sailors, Marines or airmen even being reprimanded for signing up to the cheating site using an official Pentagon account. An Army spokesman said signing up for a website was not a crime, and the worst offense anyone might be guilty of is unauthorized use of a government email address. There was no follow-up to a question asking whether soldiers or civilians with security clearances who registered with the site may be more vulnerable to blackmail as a result. The services' approach seems to contradict the Pentagon's initial reaction to the news that up to 15,000 DoD employees may have used their work emails -- and possibly computers -- to register for the website & could be disciplined for it. A fight over whether women should be required to register for a potential draft has been revived in Congress. Last year, Congress appeared on the precipice of making women register with what's formally called the Selective Service System, but the idea was dropped from the defense policy bill signed into law after closed-door House-Senate negotiations despite having bipartisan support. Now, the proposal is back in the version of the National Defense Authorization Act, or NDAA, making its way through the Senate, and conservatives are again vowing a fierce fight against what they refer to as "drafting our daughters." An American soldier is being held by Russian authorities on charges of criminal misconduct, Army officials confirmed Monday. The Associated Press cited U.S. officials who said the soldier, Staff Sgt. Gordon Black, 34, was stationed in South Korea and was in the process of returning home to Fort Cavazos in Texas. Instead, officials said Black, who is married, traveled to Russia to see a longtime girlfriend and was accused of theft. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss personnel details, according to The Associated Press. In a statement, Army spokeswoman Cynthia Smith said the service member was arrested on May 2 by Russian authorities in Vladivostok. She did not provide any information about the soldier’s identity or reasons for being in Russia. “The Russian Federation notified the U.S. Department of State of the criminal detention in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations,” she said. “The Army notified his family and the U.S. Department of State is providing appropriate consular support to the soldier in Russia.” The Associated Press reported the Russian woman had lived in South Korea, and last fall she and Black got into some type of domestic dispute or altercation, according to officials. After that, she left South Korea. It isn’t clear if she was forced to leave or what, if any, role Korean authorities had in the matter. The Marine Corps is creating a billet aimed at keeping dual-military families -- marriages where both spouses are service members -- together during moves to new duty stations. The billet, which is called the dual-military coordinator, will act as a liaison between couples and their career monitors in an attempt to alleviate stress associated with orders assignments, which can result in families being separated from each other for extended periods of time. Such separations are a quality-of-life issue that can directly affect a Marine's decision to stay in the service. You can find every episode of this show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or YouTube. Displaced Palestinians trying to return to their homes in northern Gaza recounted being shot at by the Israeli army in a video verified by Al Jazeera on Sunday. At least 33,729 Palestinians have been killed and 76,371 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7. The death toll in Israel from Hamas’s October 7 attacks stands at 1,139, with dozens of people still held captive. Palestinian doctors said they have discovered another mass grave in the vicinity of Gaza City’s al-Shifa Hospital, recently besieged by Israeli soldiers. At least 10 bodies have been recovered so far. Israel’s army chief has said Iran’s weekend attack “will be met with a response” shortly after Israel’s war cabinet convened to discuss how to respond. At least two more Palestinians have been killed in the village of Aqraba, southeast of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, in the latest of a series of attacks carried out by Israeli settlers. Fighters with the Lebanese Hezbollah group detonated an explosive device after Israeli soldiers “crossed the border”, wounding four troops. The Israeli army has renewed warnings for Palestinians not to return to Gaza’s north a day after its forces opened fire on desperate civilians trying to return home. A U.S. service member has died after setting himself on fire Sunday outside the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C., authorities confirmed Monday. A video posted online showed the man shouting "Free Palestine" as he burned during the incident, which lasted about a minute before law enforcement officers extinguished the flames at about 1pm. The man appeared to be in military uniform and identified himself as "an active duty member of the U.S. Air Force." Air Force spokesperson Ann Stefanek confirmed via email Sunday evening that "an active duty Airman was involved in today's incident." The Israeli Embassy said in a statement that none of its staff was injured and all were safe. The latest: The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said in a statement Monday that after first responders arrived on the scene the man was "transported by DC Fire and EMS to a local hospital where he later died." Police identified the man as Aaron Bushnell, 25, of San Antonio, Texas. An investigation of the incident is ongoing, MPD said. In the video of the incident, Bushnell said he would "no longer be complicit in genocide," which the Israeli military was accused of committing in Gaza in an International Court of Justice case brought by South Africa. "I am about to engage in an extreme act of protest." The MPD said in a post to X that its Explosive Ordnance Disposal was called to the 3500 block on International Drive in northwest D.C. "in reference to a suspicious vehicle that may be connected to the individual," but it later reported that no hazardous materials had been found. Once again, Putin is ordering his rivals killed. The attacks range from the exotic — poisoned by drinking polonium-laced tea or touching a deadly nerve agent — to the more mundane of getting shot at close range. Some take a fatal plunge from an open window. Over the years, Kremlin political critics, turncoat spies and investigative journalists have been killed or assaulted in a variety of ways. On Friday, Russian authorities said President Vladimir Putin’s key political challenger, Alexei Navalny, died in an Arctic prison colony. The details of what happened are unknown; Navalny’s team says it has no official confirmation of his death and Russian authorities say they are establishing why he died. His allies previously accused Russian officials of trying to poison him with a nerve agent in 2020. Assassination attempts against foes of Putin have been common during his nearly quarter century in power. Those close to the victims and the few survivors have blamed Russian authorities, but the Kremlin has routinely denied involvement. For 18 months, a teenager allegedly operated a “swatting” service out of his father’s California home, where criminals could call in a hoax bomb threat or mass shooting almost as easily as ordering a burger on UberEats. Alan Winston Filion, 17, is suspected of targeting hundreds of high schools, mosques, historically Black churches, US senators and even the US Supreme Court with swatting attacks that placed thousands of people in the crosshairs of heavily armed police response teams. Prosecutors say the 6ft 3in teenager advertised his services under the pseudonym Torswats on the encrypted messaging app Telegram, charging as little as $40 to get someone’s gas shut off, $50 for a “major police response”, and $75 for a “bomb threat/mass shooting threat”. Mr Filion would then post chilling audio of the 911 calls on Telegram as a proof of purchase, according to court documents. Among the hundreds of “swats” that Torswats allegedly claimed credit for were multiple hoax callouts at the home of Patrick S Tomlinson, a Milwaukee-based science fiction author who says he has been swatted dozens of times in the past four years as part of a targeted harassment campaign by a group of “sociopathic” stalkers. hkh Check out Barstool Sports for more: http://www.barstoolsports.com Follow Zero Blog Thirty here: Facebook: https://facebook.com/zeroblog30/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/zeroblog30 Instagram: http://instagram.com/zeroblog30 You can find every episode of this show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or YouTube. n Army lieutenant colonel who trained future officers will receive a reprimand but serve no jail time for spying on a changing room with a hidden camera at a store that caters to teenagers and young adults. Army Lt. Col. Jacob J. Sweatland served as chair of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps program at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA when he was arrested for hiding a camera in a dressing room in a PacSun clothing store that was discovered by a teenage girl. Military legal experts say the case is the latest example of the military justice system letting senior officers off with a slap on the wrist for serious sex-related offenses. Though the store was off-base, the local prosecutor stepped aside from the case in order to let the Army prosecute Sweatland. A spokesperson for the district attorney’s office called the offenses “outrageous and indefensible invasion of privacy.” A military judge sentenced Sweatland to be reprimanded at a Jan. 22 special court-martial at Fort Knox, Kentucky as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, said Ian Ives, a spokesman for U.S. Army Cadet Command You can find every episode of this show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or YouTube. WashingtonCNN — On at least three occasions over the last two months, former President Donald Trump has claimed that the leaders of unnamed South American countries are deliberately emptying their “insane asylums” and “mental institutions” to send the patients to the United States as migrants. In each version of the dramatic story, Trump has claimed he recently read about a doctor at a South American mental institution who said he used to be busy but now has no work to do because all of his patients have been released into the US. In a mid-April speech to the National Rifle Association, Trump said: “I read a story not long ago where a man who takes care of a large segment of people in a mental institution in a South American country, a doctor, sounded like a great man actually – he said he no longer has anything to do. He used to work 24-hour days. He said, ‘All of our patients have been released into the United States of America.’” Trump added more color to the story in a Thursday campaign speech in New Hampshire: “There was a story recently about a psychologist. Or psychiatrist. But a psychologist. Who worked in mental wards in South America. And he said, ‘I worked 24…’ – a good man – he worked 24 hours a day taking care of very mentally ill people. And he was sitting there reading a newspaper and they asked him, what – what’s he doing? He said, ‘I have no more work. The people have all been let go into the United States.’ Can you believe? This is what we’re doing.” But Trump has given listeners no reason to believe him on this. HOWEVER, there is a report that late Cuban despot Fidel Castro included mental health patients in the Mariel boatlift of 1980 (they made up a small percentage of the people involved in the boatlift), but that was 43 years ago; Trump’s stories have all been present-tense claims about events purportedly happening during Biden’s presidency. Shields challenged Lincoln to a duel. Lincoln responded with a final call for peace, writing that he would admit to being the author of the original newspaper letter and would apologize if Shields would retract his earlier letters and rewrite them in a more polite manner. If this request was not met, he would fight the duel. As the person being challenged, Lincoln got to set the rules. Among other things, there was to be a line between the two of them, and crossing over this line would result in death. The duel was to be fought in Missouri, as dueling was still legal there, and the weapons would be broadswords. Lincoln and Shields met for their duel on “Bloody Island,” a sandbar in the Mississippi River right outside of Alton. To demonstrate his advantage in height and reach, Lincoln swung his sword over his head and chopped down a high tree branch. #Marines #SecretaryAustin #Biden #Military #ARMY #Navy #Barstoolsports #Podcast #news #information #Pentagon Check out Barstool Sports for more: http://www.barstoolsports.com Follow Zero Blog Thirty here: Facebook: https://facebook.com/zeroblog30/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/zeroblog30 Instagram: http://instagram.com/zeroblog30 You can find every episode of this show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or YouTube.
