And that's really what you do when you sit down to meditate.

You allow yourself permission in many cases because sometimes we feel we don't really

deserve to spend this time just on ourselves or that other things should get done before we spend

our time on ourselves.

So I congratulate you for giving yourself this time. As we continue with

our series on self-care for your mind, This whole month is about self-care. Last week we explored

self-care for your soul and this week it's self-care for your mind.

So when you think about your mind and what you would need to do to care for your mind, you may think, well if I exercise

and fuel my body with good food and I surround myself with good people and I read great books and just surround

myself with goodness that you're doing your mind a great service and you definitely are.

But if you were physically incapacitated, such as Stephen Hawking,

your mind would still be very vital despite any physical limitations or if you were in very difficult circumstances in an environment such as prisoners of war.

your mind could still thrive.

There are countless stories of people who have overcome and even have thrived from being in extenuating circumstances, such as many prisoners of war or those who were in concentration camps in World War II.

Many of those people say that life was paired down to its simplest form and this brought them a peace

despite the suffering, mental, physical, emotional they were experiencing.
