Summary

In this episode, Chris Do sits down with entrepreneur and philanthropist Simon Squibb to explore the imbalance between talent and opportunity. Together, they discuss how people can break through systemic barriers, the importance of resilience in creative fields, and why access—not ability—often determines success. They reflect on Simon’s viral “What’s Your Dream?” project, the lessons he’s learned from mentoring others, and how creative education can become more inclusive. If you’ve ever questioned how to turn your skills into real opportunities, this conversation delivers unfiltered clarity and practical wisdom. So if your dream is to do something, the first check is, when do you quit when you hit a wall?

0:10.7

Is it admission the process?

0:12.1

Is it not getting a portfolio or you can't buy a computer or someone says you can't have this dream?

Whether it be your mom or Simon Squibb or Chris Doe.

0:21.1

And I think these are all tests.

0:23.1

Yeah, your mom can tell you you're not good.

0:25.6

Or the footballer can say you're not going to play in the sleep.

If you quit there, I think they were right.

I did see that and I was just looking in the comments this morning and people seem to like us. They like us. One of my good friends, she's Swedish, her name's Annali and she's a brand strategist. She goes, you know, Simon's the first guest you've ever had on your show that I feel like I could just listen to you guys talk all day because you have similar energy but different ideas and life experiences. So I thought that was a pretty good comment. Yeah, I've had that feedback

from people. So maybe there's something there. Who knows? I did talk to Leah, your agent,

that. I wish someone had told me all the different elements of like building a personal brand,

1:16.7

apart from the obvious stuff, I had to stand up for something and believe in things and so on.

1:21.2

But I didn't really understand all the different buttons you could push. And like Penguin,
