We go to the land of the Mirabelle plum tree.

Simon Constable joins from Ossetain, the south of France, paradise,

and Simon just to underline that I'm not there, I'm in New England where it's been single digits for weeks and thaw has finally set in. Simon is sending me videos of a Mirabelle plum tree outside of his window as he talks to me.

This is to inspire me, I suppose, but at this point, I'm highly competitive.

The Mirabelle plum tree dominates Lorraine.

You're good to have such a beautiful one on your estate in the south of France.

What happens to those plums when they ripen in July? What do you do with them, Simon? Good day to you.

Good day to you, John. What people do is usually one of two things. One is to make jam, Mirabelle plum jam, which would be delicious. And the other is to make

the local hooch. It's like a moonshine thing. It is legal to do this. There are people who will

take the plums and ferment them and then bring you back something that will almost blow off your

head. I had a sip of this stuff once. It's called

Oda V, and it's very, very strong. I don't think I'll other do that. So I'm going to be

hoping that we go for the jam, the comfiture, whatever you want to call it. Is the jam also

alcoholic? No, no, no.

Certainly not strong in any way.
