Hello it's Eve here. Gosh it's been a while since I hosted Radio Headspace and I've really missed it.

Life has thrown me some pretty serious curveballs since I last hosted the show.

But I'm so glad to be back and so grateful to this community.

I've been thinking a lot about where to start and truthfully I was pretty nervous about coming back on the show.

A lot of pain and heartache has occurred. My mum passed away in June after a really tough and painful battle with cancer.

I know deep down that things won't always feel like they're falling apart, but grief is a journey and I'm on it.

Sadly I've been here before. My dad died very suddenly five years ago and while that doesn't make this easier, it's given me a bit of a road map for how to deal with this loss.

Over the next week I'd like to explore grief and loss so that if you are experiencing grief you don't feel so isolated.

And by doing so hopefully open up some healthy and supportive conversations about it.

Today I want to talk about how unexpected this can all be and what to do when your life just goes to shit because it happens sometimes.

Even though it can feel suffocating and like there's nothing at all that you can do, there are things that can help guide you through the immediate waves of heartache and pain.
