International Relations, six capital six points of view. The new capital this week is Warsaw.

We learn that the President of the United States is traveling to Warsaw in these next days

about the time of one year since the attack by Russia on Ukraine. Poland is a specially

historical fixture here for Russia because of the conduct of Russia during the 20th century

toward Poland. And my experience traveling in Poland is that you don't have to remember

you can just look at the buildings in Warsaw and know why and how there is enmity with

Russia. The story is simple. The Russian army was approaching Warsaw in 1944-45. And the

Germans were in the business of destroying Warsaw, leveling it in revenge for the Warsaw

rising. And the Polish home army was hoping for resupply and help from the Russians, the

Russians pause. And the opinion ever since is that Stalin wanted the Germans to do the

job for him because it will be easier to occupy and dominate Poland after the war with

the Polish home army destroyed. There is other enmity, but that's enough. Professor
