Zelensky. And the question of where are we now? What is described as the end of the

counteroffensive season as weather closes in? I welcome Brad Bowman of the Foundation

for the Defense of Democracies, who's here to help me understand these competing headlines

for success at the same time what we're witnessing in the US and in Europe, which is louder

and louder dissent about how long this is going to go on and what constitutes victory.

Brad, a very good evening to you. Members of Congress have been explicit that they're

hesitant to continue the funding of the Ukraine conflict as it has been in the past. You

tell me you have assembled an understanding of what the US has contributed and what it

has achieved so far in the 18 months of war. Please help me understand. Good evening

this research that we've just published today that I'm pretty proud of because everyone

has opinions, but we try to bring facts to the discussion. And here are some facts that

I think are relevant. I've argued since the invasion started last year that US support

for Ukraine is not charity but a wise investment. And when you're talking about investment,

you speak in terms of costs and benefits. So we thought we'd dig in deep and actually

try to enumerate those costs and benefits. So here are the numbers. Since February of

24th, 2022, when this massive unprovoked reinvasion started, 1.13% of total US government funding

has been devoted to helping Ukraine respond to Putin's invasion. One about 1% of total

US government spending. Now, when you look at security assistance, only 3.44% of US spending
