Looking very carefully at the prosecution and defense for the allegations brought by

Jack Smith, the special counsel, against the former president of the United States Donald

Trump that he unlawfully retained national security information. This matter came up in

an interview by Megan Kelly of the former president. And Andrew McCarthy quotes a piece

of that interview in his new column, part one of two parts.

Miss Kelly asks the former president, do you believe that every CIA document that came

to you as president was automatically yours to keep? No matter what, the former president

responded, I'm not going to answer that question. Miss Kelly pressed. So that's the dispute.

Mr. Trump said, no, no, because I think it's clear in the document, the presidential

records act was a very complex thing. I stopped there because I was already lost as to what

the president is not saying. And a very good evening to you. This is a mystery, yoga.

This is part one of the mystery. The best I could understand from the president's non-answer

is that the president, former president, is under the impression that every document he touched

or possessed while he was president of the United States remains eternally forever his to touch

and do with what he wants, including stored in bathrooms in Mar-a-Lago. Is that correct, Andy?

his defense is. And I think that's probably why he didn't want to answer the question because

it sounds so preposterous to say that agency intelligence reports reports from agencies that

the American people spend $100 billion a year on somehow become the property of the president

by virtue of his receipt of them as the agency tries to serve or the intelligence agencies try to
