and I get to serve here with young adults and students and kids. And this summer, I've also

had the opportunity to work with our students' team as an intern.

There have been times in my life where I encountered depression and brokenness.

But because of Jesus, I've been able to have peace and joy amidst it all.

Yeah. Our passage today is Matthew 4. peace and joy amidst it all.

From then on, Jesus began to preach.

Repent because the kingdom of heaven has come near.

This is the word of the Lord.

I'm going to take that very short sentence and turn it into 40 minutes of exposition.

So it occurred to me last weekend, after I had preached,

that I'd done a really poor job in saying, oh, hey guys, we're starting a three-week series

on repentance. I didn't even mention that. I just went in and I didn't define repentance.

I didn't, and it was more because I wanted to lead with the necessity of repenting of righteousness

because in my experience, Christians in particular can put repentance in the same category

of the gospel as something they needed back then but don't necessarily need now. And so I wanted to
