There was a time in my life when I looked pretty put together on the outside, but I felt like a fake, hiding secret

sin on the inside. But because of Jesus' work in me, I now live in freedom from that shame.

The scripture reading for today is Galatians 3 10 through 13. For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse.

Because it is written, everyone who does not do everything written in the book of the law is cursed.

Now it is clear that no one is justified before God by the law because the righteous

will live by faith.

But the law is not based on faith.

Instead, the one who does these things will live by them. Christ redeemed us from the

curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. Because it is written, cursed is everyone who is

hung on a tree. This is the word of the Lord.

Hey, good morning. It's good to see you. It's good to be back. I always say this when I come back from summer break. Thank you. Thank you for a few weeks just to go play with my family and hang out and get replenished a little bit and then come back. And so it's good to be here.

If you have your Bibles, Galatians 3, we're going to walk, really phrase by phrase

through that here in a second, but I'm going to start us in Luke 7.

And so you head on over to Galatians 3, 10 through 13, but I want to set it up by looking

at Luke 7. In Luke 7, there's a Pharisee by the name of

Simon, and Simon extends this invitation to Jesus to come and have dinner with him. Now, that

means something different to them than it means to us. Dinner was this sacred thing. It meant more

than it means to us in our culture.
