Israel pummeled Lebanon with airstrikes yesterday.

At least 492 people were killed and 1,600 were injured, according to

Lebanon's health ministry. It also said 35 children, 58 women, and two medics were among the dead. This is a dramatic escalation between Israel

and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. Israel has increasingly turned its

attention in recent days from the war in Gaza to the conflict with Hezbollah.

The two sides have been exchanging cross-border attacks since Israel's war in Gaza began last

October. Hezbollah has fired rockets at Northern Israel and says it won't stop until there's a ceasefire in

Gaza.

That's meant tens of thousands of Israelis have had to evacuate border communities.

And in Lebanon this morning, roads are jammed as people flee their homes.
