Israel is continuing its attack on Lebanon.

Israeli strikes have killed more than 550 people and

injured more than 1800 since Monday. That's according to Lebanon's health

ministry. Israel and the militant group Hezbollah have been exchanging fire across the

Lebanese border since the war in Gaza began last year. But this week has been a

dramatic escalation. Today Hezbollah said it had fired a ballistic missile toward the

Tel Aviv area. Israel's Iron Dome defense system intercepted the

missile. President Joe Biden addressed the situation yesterday in his last major speech to the United Nations.

Full-scale war is not in anyone's interest.

Even in a situation has escalated, a diplomatic solution is still possible. In fact, it remains the only path

to lasting security to allow the residents from both countries to return to their homes and

the border safely.

The UN Security Council is expected to meet today to discuss the escalating conflict.
