Julian Assange could soon be free.

Let's get you caught up with today's seven stories.

Julian Assange reached a tentative plea deal with the U.S. government.

Assange is the controversial founder of WikiLeaks.

That's a whistleblower media organization that publishes classified government material.

He was charged for his role in obtaining and publishing government secrets from

2009 to 2011. New court filings show that Assange is expected to plead guilty today to a single

felony. The deal would allow Assange to return

to his home country of Australia. He's already served time in a British prison.

The Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese spoke about the plan in the country's Parliament today.

Regardless of the views that people have about Mr Assange's activities, the case has

dragged on for too long.

There is nothing to be gained by his continued incarceration

and we want him brought home to Australia.

This deal would end a long-running legal saga

that pitted national security against press freedom.

Some press freedom advocates argue that the guilty plea sets a dangerous precedent.

They say there's little difference between WikiLeaks publishing leaked documents and traditional media

reporting.

Number two, the Supreme Court agreed yesterday to review a ban on gender transition care.
