President Biden gave an emotional farewell at the Democratic National Convention.

It's Tuesday, August 20th. Let's get you caught up with today's seven stories.

The first day of the Democratic Convention in Chicago gave the party a chance to celebrate its past and look to the future.

President Biden was the opening night headliner.

He used his speech to highlight the contributions of Vice President

Kamala Harris to his achievements as president. And Harris made a surprise

appearance. The Democratic nominee thanked Biden for what she called his historic leadership and pumped up the convention

crowd for the rest of the week.

Let us fight for the ideals we hold dear and let us always remember when we fight we win.

First Lady Jill Biden and 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton also spoke to the convention.

And Alexandria Acasio Cortez gave a barnstorming address. She threw her support behind Harris and

cast Republican nominee Donald Trump as an opponent of working people.

And Chicago, we have to help her win.

Because we know that Donald Trump would sell this country for a dollar

if it meant lining his own pockets

and greasing the palms of his Wall Street friends.
