The Democratic National Convention gets underway in Chicago today.

It's Monday, August 19th. Let's get you caught up with today's seven stories.

One month ago, Republicans demonstrated their energy and unity at their National Convention in Milwaukee.

Starting today, it's the Democrats turn.

Speeches from First Lady Jill Biden and 2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton will kick things off.

Then President Biden will deliver the keynote address.

Since Biden dropped out of the race last month, the momentum of the presidential race has turned on its head.

This convention will be a chance for Democrats to display their party's unity and enthusiasm for their new candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris.

But that unity may not extend outside the convention walls.

Thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters are planning to make their voices heard this week.

They hope to pressure Harris and the Democrats into changing their policy toward

Israel and the war in Gaza.

The protests could be a throwback to 1968.

That's when police attacked Vietnam War protesters

outside a chaotic contested Democratic convention.

That one was also in Chicago.

There are some undeniable parallels to that time, but Democrats
