| 1:07.2 | This includes both anabolic and catabolic processes. |
| 1:10.2 | So anabolic's building up of substances and catabolic is breaking down of substances. |
| 1:14.4 | In humans, metabolism typically refers to the breakdown of food and its transformation into energy. |
| 1:19.6 | In a more scientific terms, we break down the energy that's stored in macronutrients so |
| 1:24.0 | carbohydrates proteins fats and alcohol and we release that energy as either heat or |
| 1:29.0 | chemical energy chemical energy in this case usually be an ATP or a denizen triphosphate. |
| 1:34.0 | ATP is this universal currency that we use to power different reactions in all of the tissues of the body. |
| 1:40.0 | So if a reaction requires energy, we're using a T.P or a breakdown product of that to power those |
