Summary
Stage 5 of the Tour de France was the first time trial in this year’s race, 27.2 km from Changé to Laval Espace Mayenne making it the longest first week ITT since 2012.
Fans watched with bated breath to see what impact crashes had on GC favourites Primož Roglič (Jumbo-Visma) and Geraint Thomas (INEOS Grenadiers) but took note of other strong contenders including Tadej Pogačar (UAE-Team Emirates) and Wout van Aert (Team Jumbo-Visma).
