Just taking a moment to ground ourselves in this moment.

You might have had a busy week or a quiet week. Either way, it's nice to just pause briefly.

I thought it would be helpful to talk about a question I got asked earlier in the week, which was, what kind of mentality should I have going into my meditation journey?

Now even though this was asked by someone who hadn't meditated before, I think in many ways the question serves as a great reminder, even if you have done a lot of meditation before.

The word journey is used a lot in meditation and our practice is a part of the journey we're on in life.

And we tend to think about a journey as getting us from A to B.

But the way it was described to me by my teacher is that life is the journey, not the destination.

And I remind myself of that all of the time, especially when things feel stuck or difficult.

So we begin our meditation journey wherever we are. And that starting place is different for each and every one of us.

For me, I was carrying a lot of unkindness towards myself. But over the years as I started to peel back the layers,

I found the following qualities helpful not only in my meditation practice, but also in my life as a whole.

So the first is be curious. Meditation is about noticing the mind as it is, rather than trying to make the mind as we would like it to be.
