With several of our Steelers Depot staff at the Senior Bowl in East West Shrine Bowl I

wanted to take today to focus on an underclassman that may be on the Steelers

radar come draft day. That player is 6 foot 3 inch 240 pound inside linebacker from Clemson, Trenton Simpson.

I believe that Simpson has the potential to be what the Steelers wanted Devon Bush to be.

A versatile hybrid athletic freak, three-down linebacker to run the Steelers defense.

Simpson had 12 and a half sacks throughout his career at Clemson

and has the position flexibility to play inside linebacker and out.

He had 73 total tackles in his junior season. Simpson has the

potential to run in the 4-4 range at the NFL combine which will greatly affect

his draft stock come April.

That speed gives Simpson the ability to stay with slot receivers,

tight ends, and running backs and coverage.

As Dave Bryan noted, in 2022, the Steelers inside

linebackers produce zero-force fumbles, fumbles recovered, and

interception, which makes Simpson even more intriguing pick.
