Summary

In March of 1692 the little village of Salem Massachusetts became a hotbed of lies, deception, and fear as a group of teenage girls went into convulsions and named selected locals as witches who were possessing them. The judge, the reverends, and most of the townspeople were caught up in the frenzy and fear and those who spoke up faced sure retribution. When the witch hunt started it gained momentum- and was at its worst when a four year old girl whose mother had already been accused was interrogated for two weeks until she finally broke down and admitted she was a witch so she could go to the gallows with her mother. 1:50.0	I'm taking you now to present day Danvers Massachusetts, located on the Danvers River in northeast Massachusetts.
1:58.0	Danvers is a short ride from Boston and close to the popular beaches of Gloucester and Revere.
2:03.0	It's a peaceful little town of 27,000, but it has a quirky reputation.
2:09.0	One, it's named after Danvers Osborne, who is briefly the governor of New York Province, but committed suicide shortly after taking office.
2:18.0	Two, it houses the original site of the Danvers State Mental Hospital, which was the inspiration for HP Lovecraft's horror stories and Batman's Arkham Asylum.
2:28.0	The hospital was torn down and is now a condominium complex.
