Jake, you've got a deal to close the end of the year. I'm doing good, brother. How you doing? Good, man. But we have a great guest today.

Today's guest is a serial entrepreneur, investor, philanthropist focused on building purpose-driven businesses.

and long-term legacy. So that further ado, Jeff Bernan, welcome the show. Jake, Gino, it's good to be

0:50.1

with you. Thanks for having me. Hey, it is our pleasure. And I was going through your bio

0:56.0

today. And, you know, my question initially is around entrepreneurship. I grew up in a very

1:01.8

small town, zero exposure to entrepreneurs, business owners. What point in your life did you

1:09.8

realize you were a business person and then eventually an

1:13.1

entrepreneur because my personal experience was, you know, it was kind of like bam in the face,

1:19.1

it evolves and didn't know I had it in me. So I just loved to hear your perspective on that

1:24.0

if it was an evolution or you just came out swinging. Yeah, maybe a little bit of both. Where did you grow up, Jake, by the way? What city? Oh, I grew up in a, you know, some call it Alaska, but, you know, others refer to it as the Rust Belt. I grew up south of Rochester, New York, got a lot of lake effects snow from over Buffalo. And we were, you know, a small town of like

1:44.6

1,800 people. And this was the 90s. So it was permanent three feet of snow from like late November to April. My wife, you know, watches these Alaskan, live in Alaska shows, right? And I said, I've done that. It's not nearly as glamorous. And they even have less sunlight than we did. So, you know, and then on top of it,

2:01.6

there was just, you know, there was a public school. There was a, like a chair factory. And so

2:06.6

there was literally zero exposure to business owners, entrepreneurship. And it was just like this

2:12.5

far off fairy tale. So there was a lot of inflection points for myself that led to that. So I just, I don't know, I've seen

2:19.2

entrepreneur in your bio. I grew up in Spokane, Washington, clear across small town. I mean,

2:23.5

about it's 500,000 people, but much less, you're big dog to me. That's right, much less dynamic
