Summary

Nov. 6 – Ep. 80: For this episode of The Depot Dive, Ross McCorkle and Joe Clark recap the disastrous game against the Los Angeles Chargers on primetime. They start by discussing Aaron Rodgers' bad game, and how he had very little help on offense around him to make up for it. We also talk about the defense looking good, but the other two phases letting them down. Next we talk we do a deep dive into the offense and try to answer the question of whether or not the offense can turn things around after a few bad games in a row. Can Marquez Valdes-Scantling help, and will he even play this weekend? For the final topic, we preview the Bengals game, including both teams' injury reports. We answer a listener questions about zone and man defense and which the Steelers are better suited for at the moment. Welcome back, everybody, to another episode of The Depot dive. I'm Ross McCork.

0:04.6

And above me here on the screen is Joe Clark. And just like we said last week, what a difference one week can make.

0:12.7

We have once again fallen into that scenario. Unfortunately, on the wrong side of the equation, this time.

0:18.8

Pittsburgh Steelers lost in kind of embarrassing fashion to the Los Angeles Chargers

0:23.8

on the West Coast on the road, 25 to 10, and really it was 25 to 3 if you exclude the garbage

0:31.0

time touchdown at the end of the game. Not a great look and a whole lot to talk about this week for us and unfortunately probably

0:39.9

not a lot of positive things to talk about. But we will discuss and recap that Chargers game

0:46.3

and we'll kind of take a deep dive into the offense and whether or not it's fixable. Imagine that.

0:52.4

A few weeks ago it was the defense and now it has flipped

0:54.6

to the offense and then we'll finish up the show uh previewing the bengal's game and answering

1:00.4

some listener questions joe before we dive in how are things on your end doing pretty well how about you

1:07.5

i'm good our our bet i think uh did we both end up taking Darius Slay?

1:12.6

We did. It hit. It hit. I think in the private in our chat, right before the game, I switched

1:19.8

my answer to Dante Jackson, so I don't want to take full credit. I got cold feet there, but yeah,

1:24.8

was Darius Slay that ended up exiting the game first. And this one was

1:29.1

actually a little bit worse than the rest of them because he didn't return, which, uh, uh, you know,

1:33.5

we'll talk about the injury report here later in the show. But where do you want to begin with,

1:39.2

with the Chargers? Uh, I think Aaron Rogers is probably the right spot. Yeah, what I was going to do. It was just a bad game all around from Rogers. I mean, early on, he didn't look comfortable. He kind of had happy feet early. And it was pretty noticeable even before, you know, the misses started piling up. He just didn't look comfortable all game. And I don't know what like the byproduct of that was but I mean the

2:02.0

offensive line allowed a little bit more pressure than they had been in recent weeks but he was

2:06.2

missing receivers he was missing throws that he usually makes and should make and the offense

2:11.1

really just stalled out because of that and couldn't get anything going all day yeah he's missing

2:17.0

high he's missing low when he finally got the ball to the receivers, there were drops. And so it's not all his fault. There were some, really nobody was helping him out other than maybe J. Lamoran and maybe, I don't know, Pat Friarmouth. I guess Darnow, Washington had a nice tough catch. But other than that, he wasn't getting a lot of help.
