I'm John Batchel with my colleague and friend Gregory Copley, the author of the new book,

Noble State.

We're going to the opposite, an ignoble state, Syria, darkness visible.

The information in these last days, fog of war, is that there were ambushes, several of them,

in Latakia province. That's on the coast. It's dominated by the Alawites. That's a sect

that was associated with the Assad family for many decades. The Alawites of Latakia province and Latakia City are organized,

we're told, into a military council that roughly parallels the Syrian army under the Assad. The leader,

we're told, fog of war is a man named Dala, who was a general in the fourth armored division. We're told.

Within these last days, there have been several ambushes leading to the deaths of so-called

general services, which is a way of talking about HTS laundered with different uniforms. That's

former Al-Qaeda HDS, now in Damascus. In addition, there

were retaliation scenes given in video. I don't have any validation or not. I'm just saying

we were told these things by the FT, including murder on the roofs of buildings in Latakia.

This looks like another iteration of the Civil War. It would be the Alawites of Latakia,

and some Christians were said to have been murdered. Fog of War versus the remnant of the Al-Qaeda troops from Idlib now gathered in Damascus around a man named Al-Shara in an Italian suit with a trim beard.

However, this is too simple compared to where we're going.

Turkey, you will recall, sponsors HTS when it made that sharp move into Damascus, and Al-Shara named himself the president, having never been voted for, of Syria.

Gregory, I stop there because the important question here is, what does Turkey want?

And is Turkey taking into account this apparent revolt from
