I'm Mary Mechley and I honor you for giving your self-permission to slow down,

0:16.4

to connect to the best part of who you are. We are exploring the theme this week of meditating

0:27.2

with the great ones, the meditation masters throughout this centuries who've shared some truth,

0:36.3

a universal truth that connects us all. You've been discovering the different meditation techniques

0:43.6

of these meditation masters and we are now midweek at day five of our series.

0:54.7

In today's episode, you are going to be guided in a meditation technique by the early Stoic

1:07.7

Marcus Aurelius. He wrote the book Meditations and the book isn't necessarily about meditation.

1:17.6

period of tranquility and what is often referred to as a good stable government in Rome at that time.

2:29.0

After his death, the Roman Empire quickly descended into civil war. He's often symbolized the golden age

2:39.2

of the Roman Empire. He wrote the book Meditations, not as a book to be published and shared, but rather

2:50.5

his own personal reflection. So it was like a diary after he died. It was discovered. And it was so

2:59.0

profound with, as I had mentioned earlier, this universal wisdom that people couldn't get enough of it.

3:06.9

And today, it's still popular. It's a classic book. I encourage you to share this meditation series

3:17.2

with someone you know who might need a little more peace and tranquility in their lives.

3:24.4

And I'd also be honored if you let me know how you are doing with your meditation ritual.
