Welcome to episode 1,613 of your daily meditation podcast. I'm Mary Mechley and I welcome you to a brand new meditation series you'll be guided through this week.

And so that is what I'm doing this week. I selected a series on self-care where you focus on self-gratitude being thankful for yourself.

So you'll be exploring self-gratitude this week. I thought this was a great way to launch into this busier, more hectic time of the year, especially as we get ready to celebrate.

For many of you, some of the holidays at this time of year and the end of the year festivities. It's a time to nourish yourself a little more.

And this is a technique to help you let go of those qualities that may be interfering with your ability to care for yourself, the way you want to, the way you need to.

And these are qualities that so easily sneak into our lives. Anything that is distracting such as checking emails, checking text messages, randomly spending time on any of your devices or worrying.

Worrying can take away a lot of your time. So you may also be stressed about what's happening in the world these days, what's happening in your life. This also can steal away self-care and gratitude for all you are, for all you do.

So this is a series all about enhancing the best of who you are.

Begin actually simply to notice what those cares are. You may not even be aware of some of the most prevalent thoughts that occupy your mind.

They may have been so embedded in your consciousness that you don't even realize what you're trading your attention for.

So notice what is on your mind right now.

And then begin to think of what other thoughts and cares seem to occupy your thoughts on a regular basis.

As you consider this, as you sit and begin your meditation at some point, break away and focus on what it is.

You want to be thinking about what do you want to occupy your thoughts, bring this into your awareness and begin to move forward with focusing on it.
