Summary

This episode of RunPod is about challenging yourself as Jenni is joined by adventurer and runner, Sean Conway. For Sean it is about the 3 Fs: the first, going the furthest and the fastest. So with that in mind, Sean was the first person to swim, cycle and run the length of Great Britain and then proceeded to go the furthest in the world’s longest triathlon; a 4200 mile journey around the coast of Britain. And here’s the thing, he only started running a few years ago! Jenni and Sean discuss epic running challenges, what’s to love about them and he also gives some insight into life away on the road and on the trails. It’s a fascinating listen with a man who has achieved so much, yet still has so much more to tick off his to do list. Enjoy and if you’re not already pounding the pavement whilst you listen, guaranteed you’ll be reaching for your trainers before the episode finishes. Happy running.

If you're not already outrunning, then by the

0:22.2

end of listening to our guest today, chat, you'll be desperate to go out there and your trainers

0:26.9

because this man is so active and so get up and go that his actual profession, his actual title,

0:34.4

is adventurer. Yeah, imagine just being an adventurer. I mean, amazing. What does that even

0:39.4

mean? Well, we'll find out because we are joined by the man with the best beard around. It is the one

0:45.8

and only Sean Conway. Hello there. Hey, Jenny. Thanks for having me. Oh, no, thank you.

0:51.5

Yeah, brilliant intro there. I always cringe at the title Adventurer,

0:55.9

but it kind of makes sense, so I go with it anyway. Yeah, no, I think it's amazing. It's really cool.

1:01.3

I know that you were a photographer, so you have done other jobs, and I mean, you've written

1:05.8

enough books to be officially an author. I mean, but adventure it, that's a good one to have, I think. Yeah, I think so.

1:12.2

I mean, I'm probably more aligned with sort of a non-professional ultra-endurance athlete, I think,

1:19.5

is sort of where I sort of, I think is more pinpointing exactly what I do, because in the world

1:25.8

of adventure, you can sort of go and do exploration, or you can sort of do the sport side of it and I'm definitely on the far end of the

1:32.7

sport side so which which I need because I need those big scary physical goals to chase

1:38.9

otherwise I'm just a rubbish human you know oh my goodness I honestly can't believe it. So listen, wherever you are and

1:44.9

whatever you're doing, you might run really far today after listening to this episode because you're

1:49.8

like, well, Sean runs however far, you know, and doesn't even think about it. This might inspire

1:55.3

you to run a little bit further today. But before we get into all of that, a couple of things.

1:59.6

First up, Sean, the beard. Good to see
