Trump threatens to block Harvard from enrolling international students, New York Times, in these last hours.

The Trump administration said Harvard must share detailed records about its foreign students, an escalation in the administration's

fight against prominent American schools. I welcome Professor Richard Epstein of the Civitas

Institute, who speaks routinely of these prominent American schools, being a graduate of one,

and someone who's enjoyed teaching

very good minds for many decades. Richard, a very good evening to you. Professor, Harvard

is right now fending off demands by the Trump administration that are a long list. I won't

try to come up with all of it. It begins with

the allegation that Harvard has not done enough to protect its Jewish students from anti-Semitic

behavior, chiefly pointing to the events of 2024. But there is now conversation about

DEI and most recently international students.

How do you measure this assumption by the Trump administration that Harvard must change?

You can only go into a bad place.

What has happened essentially is that Trump is going back to the

terrible things that happened when Claudeyne Gay was president of the university and acts as though

those are the only things that matter. Harvard has undergone a fair number of internal convulsions

since that time. And what is striking about the demand letters that he sends to them is he has no sense of variation, progress, movement, or anything.

What he's doing is if you could find one person at Harvard who is anti-Semitic, the whole institution turns out to be anti-Semitic.
