I'm John Batchel with Bob Zimmerman. He keeps the website behind the black.

We're going to the sunny side of the

0:22.5

street. This is the Sunspot report, Bob, now and again, I think monthly, brings us up to date about

0:29.3

what we don't know at the sun. Here we go, Bob. We're going to know less after you finish talking.

0:33.8

That's always the routine. The more you know, the less you know. I actually forgot to do my

0:39.3

Sunspot monthly Sunspot X report last month, but that didn't matter because the last two months

0:44.9

the activity was about the same. It was lower than predicted. During this whole solar cycle,

0:50.1

as it ramped up to Maximum is now ramping down. The sunspot activity has never matched the

0:55.5

prediction. During the ramp up, it was always more active and faster than predicted. During the ramp down

1:00.9

now, it's much faster and weaker than predicted consistently. The graph on behind the black will

1:07.0

make that clear to you if you want to go take it out. We don't really understand what's going on here.

1:12.4

We don't really know why the sun has these cycles.

1:14.6

We know it's related to the dynamo and the magnetic field of the sun, but the unfundamentals we do not understand.

1:20.7

And the bottom line here is that the solar cycle has been weak now for two cycles,

1:25.7

and that links to the so-called pause in global warming

1:30.1

that occurred.

1:31.2

It wasn't a pause.

1:31.9

We suddenly didn't have any global warming for 20-plus years, and that links to the solar

1:36.6

cycle.

1:37.3

There is a connection.

1:38.4

They don't quite understand it yet.

1:40.3

Once again, uncertainty of science, John.
