I'm John Batchelor. To the south of France, to my good friend and colleagues, Simon Constable, writing for the Wall Street General Barons and other distinguished publications, but right now he's a weather vein.

You will recall, when we last spoke with Simon, he was under bombardment by an atmospheric river that continued to replenish itself off of the Atlantic, sweeping over France, hitting

Spain and plowing right into Milan. That gave a good snowfall for the Olympics. But where Simon

lives in the south of France, near the village of Albi, this is in the general area of Toulouse, the large city.

They were suffering rainstorm after rainstorm with swollen rivers, farm fields flooded out,

and it kept up for days. Simon, a very good day to you. I have reason to believe,

looking at my weather map, that all of France is now

blue sky. How's it with you, Simon? Good day to you. Good day to you, John. And you are

absolutely right. The rain has disappeared. Thank goodness, because it was torrential every day,

and it really, really wasn't nice. So today,'s beautiful, the high temperature, 66 Fahrenheit, the low temperature of 47 Fahrenheit,

and they're very blue skies.

And when you look across the fields, they are bright green, which is absolutely lovely.

And the two dogs, Lyra and Juno are loving it and being able to run around the fields without getting their paws muddy, which is good for us and good for them.

There's a very large river, La Tom, which you cross into Albi when you drive there.

As Le Tom was threatening to spill over its banks when we last talked,

how is it now? It's still full with a lot of water, but it's not looking likely that it's going

to overflow and start flooding more houses than have already been flooded. So that's really good.

And we've seen a lot of earth-moving equipment, getting the gullies cleaned up so that water can run down those two other rivers and help us not have any more floods, which would be very good.

There were 11 storms that hit Milan.
