Back then, the MVP, again, was really just a creation-only app.

It was a super simple flow.

The app had literally three screens.

We ended up skipping anything server's, like, you know, so completely no user counts,

no databases, nothing.

Might sound funny, but we hosted a simple JSON file on this three that included all the metadata.

You know, so every sound was like a little dictionary, little blob in that JSON list with the name where the sound file was stored,

sometimes a couple of tags and the group it was in.

And then kind of like that JSON file really acted as our API back then.

Originally from Berlin, Germany, Tim Spake started programming for fun during high school.

He had no plans to make a career out of it. In fact, he wanted to become an experimental

physicist. When the startup scene in Berlin started to pick up pace, Tim got interested. His first

couple of gigs were in mobile engineering, which influenced him to continue to pursue startups.

Nowadays, he's a dog fosterer. That is, he rotates dogs through his apartment in Brooklyn,

taking care of their special needs while a good home is found. In 2014, he and his co-founders had been experimenting

with video and music-related apps, tinkering with creation inside of the different mediums, for example,

integrating with the iTunes library, and then of course sharing those creations with friends.
